One of my girlfriends is wanting her 1st bike....she's never taken a safety course, she says she will but I am not sure she will. She's got in her head she wants a crotch rocket, something about a 650 or larger. She's headstrong about things and when her mind's set she'll do it even if it's going to hurt her. I'm trying to convince her to get a Vstar 650 or the like as a 1st bike, what am I to do? Her Dad rides as well but he has a crotch rocket and has many yrs of experience with riding. HELP!

Ok...so what is the purpose of a crotch rocket on the streets and highways? I've been passed once again in my lane on the highway by some crotch rockets, while I was doing 105km's in a 90 zone. What's with that? Are they sold at the dealerships to specifically race on he road? Are they for the dreamer that pretends he is part of the AMA? Is it so he can attract attention for everyone to see him speed? Is it the ultimate adrenaline rush, fun and need for speed? I suppose everyone has a reason and I'm glad that we have the freedom to buy these things, but what is the purpose? Endangering someone's life is not a rush. I would like to live a long life without someone's help to end it sooner. End of rant!

Get a Crotch rocket or anything the resembles a crotch rocket you'll have one of these follow you allthe way and even park in front of me at a rest area

it has been about 20 years since i had my crotch rocket & a month ago we got a 2004 RSV. i can't believe how rusty i am at riding & how much different the RSV is over a crotch rocket. anyway, i have been getting pretty good at getting around on the RSV without bouts of Oh crap being uttered through my helmet. i would like to get opinions on the Ride like a pro video before i decide to spend next year's venture dues on a DVD. i am sorry, but i did not want to look through 500 or so pages to see if this has been discussed. if so, does someone know where the thread is & it cruise over there. other wise, comments are welcome. My "throw away son,", just got back from Iraq, a couple of days ago. i called him to tell him about his "other mom", and he came riding in this evening, on a yamaha r6! quick, tell me something about this crotch rocket, so i don't feel like an "ignorant " old man!please.:confused24: just jt p.s. if anyone else knows something , that i need to know, please jump in here.

Just couldn't help myself today. Riding home after a twelve hour day, I came up on a pickup following a crotch rocket. Rider had a neat flamed shirt and fancy helmet and looked good, if you can look good going 55mph on a crotch rocket. He had a puzzled looked on his face as I cruised past him. Guess he didn't think the old guy on the old 1st gen had it in him. When I hit 95 he just kinda slid into the background. About two miles further I saw this speck coming up and low and behold, it was our little speed demon. He was probably running about 110 when he passed me. Evidently he didn't like high speed running cause I caught him in a couple of more miles. This time he laid down on the tank and really opened it up. Still had to wait on him to turn off the highway when we got to town. For just a split second I dreamed of a V-Max. I'm sorry, what was I thinking. I ride a 1st gen. I don't know what he would have done with one of you speedier guys, (you know who you are). Just made my day. Anybody else done that lately?:cool10:

well as much as i hate to say something bad about crotch rockets. 2 and maybe 3 kids learned a good lesson today. they passed me like i was standing still on i-270, heavy traffic,weaving in and out. about 15 minutes later i saw red lights along side the road and 2 of them were on their knees next to their bikes in hand cuffs. came back by a little later and they were loading the bikes on a car hauler. guess their riding days are over. they will probably nail the one that got away later. i imagine they broke a whole bunch of laws before i saw them ,and the cops were waiting for them. can't really go off on them, i did a little stupid stuff like that when i was young. i just did'nt have as fast a bike. i learned the hard way to.

and beating some sense into him??? yesterday , at noon, i was coming home for lunch. driving 55, the posted speed limit. on my left side, a young man in an old ford explorer, blew by me, followed by a young man on a BIG crotch rocket! the explorer pulled over into my lane, and the idiot on the bike jerked it up on one wheel, at about 65-70 miles an hour and rode it that way, for a 1/2 mile or better,accelerating all the time! i thought to myself! what an idiot! on the way into town, about 2 hours later, i saw the SAME blue and white crotch rocket, in pieces, in the back of a pick-up truck, going back into town! the bike had no seat, no handlebars, no windshield no exhaust pipes.pretty well torn up. i don't know about the rider, but i have to assume he ain't in the best of health, today! please be safe, when you ride, and please , if you get a chance, PREACH safety to these young broncs! just jt

At what age do ya let your kids out on a motorcycle??? And what do you inform them of? I don't want mine on any until they take a safety course. And then no CROTCH ROCKETS, this is what happened to a fellow student and band member of my youngest son. http://www.kwes.com/global/story.asp?s=7186157 By all means, if ya want your kids to ride, teach them not to be foolish for one thing, this was all the riders fault, now the driver of the car has to live with his or her friend being killed buy them, even though it was not their fault. I don't think teens should ride unless they go through a course, get validated and be known to be safe, I really don't think they need to ride crotch rockets. All the time the rockets pull up next to me, take off before the light goes green doing a wheelies for several blocks. Sorry, just another useless death..
