Hi All Some of you my have seen that I have a new toy 1988 1500 Gold wing. The past owner put the NY state inspection sticker on the lower front fender. I really do not like this location. Do any of you have any other spots that may look good? I have been looking at chrome plates that mount like on the crash bars. Thanks Bull463

We just found out that my sister in law died today in a motorcycle crash today. On her way home from work and was hit head on by a cage crossing the center line. She was from Bridgetown Nova Scotia. This is very sad news.

Does anyone know of a larger front crash bar for the 1st Gen? Something that provides better protection and still looks decent. I accidently dropped the VR in the garage and the thing laid absolutely flat. Nothing damaged. Something that would at least allow the VR to lay at an angle and protect the fairing and acessories.

I just ran across this regarding the DUI driver that stuck and killed the four riders last summer from the Omaha and Glennwood, IA area. I knew he pled guilty and got his 50 years for it. Fair enough. But now Iowa has suspended the liquor license of the the store that sold him MORE beer even though the clerk had been warned about the driver being drunk by other motorists that had seen him on the road. He had even been seen hitting a bridge guardrail not far from the store. But they sold him another cold 40 anyway. Ok, suspended.......for three weeks. Three whole weeks. Geesh. Somehow that don't seem like enough to me. MISSOURI VALLEY, Iowa -- Iowa has suspended the liquor license of a convenience store where authorities say a Nebraska man bought beer before a drunken crash that killed four motorcyclists in western Iowa last summer. In a settlement with the Iowa Alcohol Beverages Division, Taylor Oil Company Inc. admits no wrongdoing or guilt. But it doesn't contest the complaint the company sold beer to a person who was intoxicated. The 3-week suspension for the Taylor Quik-Pik store in Missouri Valley begins Thursday and runs until Aug. 18. Andrew Schlichtemeier, of Murray, Neb., was sentenced to 50 years in prison for vehicular homicide. The men killed in the crash were returning from the annual motorcycle rally in Sturgis, S.D. Seeing as I'm caging & trailering to Cody I can bring along some of my products besides what I intend for the raffle. Items would be horn brackets & wiring harnesses, lift adapters- standard & freestanding, crash bar braces, & 1 arm rest set. Prices will be discounted to reflect both savings in shipping and a cash discount for all items. I'll be limited to 4 each of the harnesses and brackets, crash bar braces, adapters, & 1 arm rest set due to what I have available and have room to haul with me. Anyone interested let me know either here of in a pm. We're leaving Tuesday so I have to know by tomorrow evening of any requests. Thanks, Larry

was install the wind deflectors in the crash bars... So far have replaced the right crash bar (almost) and replaced the broken tabs on the right lower fairing. But then I found an intake leak behind the right air filter, and the drain tube not connected to the rear of the right air box. Well there is no dirt or oil in the intake piping now... Maybe I'll have the wind deflectors on by kbran's MD

Report out late this afternoon--- blood alcohol level .19 for police officer. Officer involved in fatal crash tested positive for alcohol Posted: Aug 10, 2010 4:24 PM EDT Updated: Aug 10, 2010 6:04 PM EDT http://wthr.images.worldnow.com/images/12957301_BG1.jpgEnlarge this picture http://wthr.images.worldnow.com/images/12957301_BG2.jpgEnlarge this picture Officer David Bisard Indianapolis - The IMPD officer involved last week's fatal crash tested positive for alcohol, Eyewitness News has learned. Investigators from Indianapolis Metro Police are working with the Marion County prosecutor's office on a possible probable cause affidavit concerning the officer who struck a group of motorcycles last Friday, killing one of them. Officer David Bisard, 36, was on an emergency run with lights and sirens activated when he struck two motorcycles at the intersection of East 56th Street and Brendon Way. Officer Bisard was transported to the Methodist Occupational Health Facility from the accident scene. Bisard submitted to a blood draw to test his blood alcohol content, a standard procedure for any officer involved in an accident. Metro Police Chief Paul Ciesielski confirmed to Eyewitness News that Bisard tested positive for alcohol. Eric Wells, 30, was killed in the crash. Two others, Mary Mills, 47, and Kurt Weekly, 44, remain hospitalized after suffering critical injuries. They were among four Defense Finance and Accounting Service employees who had gone out for lunch on motorcycles when they were struck. Since the crash, Mills has been upgraded from critical to serious condition. Weekly remains in critical condition. Wells was laid to rest Tuesday. Sources close to the investigation say accident investigators are working with personnel from the prosecutor's office on a possible probable cause in the case. Meantime, Metro Police Chief Ciesielski reassigned Bisard to administrative duty during their investigation into the deadly crash. Bisard has been involved in five other on-duty accidents in the past eight years. All were considered minor and did not involve injuries. In June 2002, Bisard struck a fence, and in December 2003, he slid into a fence. In January 2004, a suspect's car struck Bisard's squad car. In September 2005, he struck a concrete retaining wall, and in August 2007, a suspect's car hit Bisard's squad car. This story will be updated. A friend of mine a former Venture Rider Leo Cozzarin went on a road trip. He planned on a three week trip to South Dakota, Yellowstone, Colorado and where ever else he wanted to go. Eight days into his trip, it was cut short by an accident. Thankfully he was in a construction zone and was stopped in traffic. He was there for a while so he got off the bike and was texting his wife, when the accident occured. Glad he is okay. Pictures he sent me are posted below. Brad Three injured in U.S. 191 crash A woman from Switzerland and two others riding in her vehicle were injured July 14 after she apparently fell asleep at the wheel, crashing into a motorcycle rider and a semi-tractor trailer, according to a report from the Utah Highway Patrol. The women, 27, was traveling north on U.S. 191 at mile 146 at about 11 a.m. when the crash occurred in a construction zone where traffic was restricted to one lane of travel at a time, according to the report. The motorcycle and the semi were stopped and waiting to be guided through the construction area when the crash occurred, UHP officials said. The motorcycle rider and semi driver escaped injury. The woman and two other occupants of the Jeep were transported by ambulance to Allen Memorial Hospital. The road was closed to intermittent traffic for about 1.5 hours, according to the report. There are no reflector/lights on the sides of my rear crash bars as I've seen others have. Do any of you know of some for sale or where I may check to find this item? Are these stock lights or is it an after market item? Your help will be appreciated. Owen.

Due to several request to make crash bar braces I've built a limited number of them. Currently there's 6 of them listed in the classifieds but if there's enough demand I'll build more. I built these a bit different than the ones I did in a post 3 years ago. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=6069&highlight=crash+supports Simplier and stronger. Here's a link to my ad -- http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=2692 Please note that you'll also have to purchase a set of clamps for the crash bars. There are two types to choose from. These from are the best -- http://www.kuryakyn.com/index.cfm/go/Home.ProductDetail/catID/18/scID/121/IMID/531 #1002 or from Dennis Kirk -- http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp?skuId=494431&store=&catId=&productId=p494431&leafCatId=&mmyId or a 3piece type -- http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp?skuId=406929&store=&catId=&productId=p406928&leafCatId=&mmyId= or http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp?skuId=406933&store=&catId=&productId=p406932&leafCatId=&mmyId= I have found both types being sold at e-bay with decent prices in the past as well. Larry Note: The first two pics show the braces and clamps on my bike. The ones I have listed are a bit different at the clamp end but will still do the same job.

A 53-year-old Argos man died early Saturday morning after a car crashed into his motorcycle on U.S. 31, , south of 11th Road The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department identified the Argos man as Kenneth Nettrouer. Witnesses told police Christian Chacon, 21, of Granger, was driving a 1987 BMW 325 at a high rate of speed as he passed three vehicles, just before the crash. There was patchy fog in the area at the time of the crash. Police said Chacon drove into the back of Nettrouer’s 2007 Honda Shadow 750 motorcycle, throwing him. The force of the collision caused Chacon’s car to roll over, stopping when righted itself on its wheels. Plymouth EMS responded to the scene. Nettrouer was flown by Samaritan helicopter to Memorial Hospital in South Bend, where he later died, according to a police news release issued early Saturday afternoon. Chacon was arrested on several charges, police said. (will we ever learn to slow down)
