I have a 2005 RSTD. It hasn't been cranked in about a month or two. It has been too wet to ride. Seems that the sun only shines when I'm working. Anyway, today I washed her. When I was finished I cranked her and let her warm up with the choke on for a few minutes. I then pulled her back into the carport and shut her down. Thats when I saw a lot of steam coming from the radiator. Not from the top but through the fins. It only lasted a minute or two then went away. The radiator is not leaking and I sure the cold did not get to it. I've never had this happen before and was wondering if anyone else has had this happen and was there a problem.

Just got a call tonight from the wife. I'm working out of town and my wife called me earlier and told me that a storm sent my bike over on its side. It spent about 1 -2 hours on its side till a friend could get over to the house and stand it back up. HE said the bilke cranked wright up after a quick check of the oil. No coolant as he could tell. When he cranked it up it immediately started leaking. Seems it broke the water pipe yet again. Is there anything that can be done to strenthen the highway/engine guards on a first gen.?? And for all the mechanics out there. Are there anything other than cosmetics I should look for ?? My buddy has his license and rides regular so he took it for a short ride and everything tracked well and seemed to function normally. He's out as many miles on this bike as I have so he knows how it works. Any help or ideas will be greatly apreciated. Thanks in advance. David ps.I was going to send funds to the oops I dropped it club but since the wind did it I sent the $5 to the ope fund instead.

Does the carbs on a 1990 Virago 1100 have accelerator pumps? Reason I was asking is because I went to look at one last night and before the guy cranked it up, he rolled the throttle wide open several times before he tried to crank it. It cranked right up as soon as he hit the starter switch but it seems useless to roll the throttle open if it doesn't have pumps. It seemed to run out well and I bought it for a Christmas present for the wife....haven't gotten it home yet...trying to surprise the wife Christmas day

Has anyone had any problems with their freeze plugs coming out? I have and 05 RSV with 56000 miles on it and got home from work and noticed some coolant on the carport. Chased it down to the source and found the right rear freeze plug leaking. Pushed it back in and added some antifreeze and cranked it up and watched as the plug blew all the way out. Does anyone know the secret to getting them to stay in? Or I just need to get new ones.
