  1. Don't know how I'd feel towing something like this. Was thinking about turning it into a motorcycle trailer, but don't know if it'd be safe. bjmrt-3269559198@sale.craigslist.org http://images.craigslist.org/5N85L15M83M93Fe3Jec9df2847bb5042e1d3b.jpg
  2. Well as some may remember, Wife, youngest daughter, and I moved to N.C. almost 3 months ago now. Well after the dust settled, we started looking hard for work. I scored first by picking up a job running a earth mover (scraper) for a place just North of us, 52 miles one way. I workeded for 2 weeks with 3 other guys, who all found this job on craigslist. The boss made lots of great promises and told us all how great his company was, and how well we were all doing, But at the end of 2 weeks he couldnt pay us. We then discovered that it was only a 4 week job and he did this to a crew before us. We were all done. We all felt pretty dumb for falling for his BS. We all had to make a dozen calls to people and eventually got our pay 6/7 weeks later and of course we were shorted with only about 50% of what was promised. I swore then that Id never take or even look at craigslist for another job and went back to other methods. After about a week and half of not working, I started to get real nervous again, and a fella called me about a mechanic's job. I have all the tools and used to do this also. He said the guys that worked there made between 55 and 60k a year. I was pretty excited. I loaded up my tools and went to work. I worked there for 3 weeks and discovered he, also wasnt on the up and up. We was on call for 24/7 and wasnt making much. Calculated up my hours verses pay and it came to about 6 dollars an hour. I busted my tail for them too- wanting to show how dedicated and a hard worker I was. During the time I was there I asked him how he got my info- said that I had answered his ad on craigslist, ( i put in so many apps that I was no longer sure). Did I mention Dont ever even look on Craigslist for a job?? Well during my last week there and while I was waiting for my first check (paid every 2 weeks so had to wait almost 3 to get one) I got a call from UPS. I talked to a very nice man named Junior, he was interested in me for a machanic spot that had just opened up. After 2 weeks of interviews and tests, I found out that I was chosen out of the other 7 or 8 apps. I am very excited to say that I start Monday! I will be doing what I like, for a company that has been around for 105 years. I get benifets, and can join the union after 45 days. Meanwhile wife has found a job, working in a office for the second largest construction company in the state, they love her and it looks great. Daughter also found a job with a computer tech company that works with airports around the east coast. her job really looks good also. So after a long scary past year and a half since wife and I both lost our jobs in Michigan, things are looking good and we're very excited about the future again!!

  4. I've been trying to get on Craigslist for a while today and I'm having no luck. Can't get on from my bookmark, a direct address, or any kind of link from this site or others. All my other bookmarks and addresses are working but anything to do with Craigslist is just a message that it is not available due to not being on Internet, website problems, etc, etc. Weird. Is it just me or anybody else having problems? Mike
  5. Does anyone know how to search for something statewide instead of city by city?
  6. There's a part out listed on Craigslist in Loveland for an 86. http://fortcollins.craigslist.org/mcy/2256043287.html Don't know what all he has but I could converse with the gentleman and take a look see if there's anything anyone needs.
  7. I don't like using Craigslist due to their reputation but I also realize it can come in handy at times. I have never looked to buy anything from it though. A few months ago I placed a used car on there for sale along with some pics. Nothing unusual about it. Within a couple days Craigslist flagged and removed it. Their notice to me admits that sometimes posts are removed by mistake. Well, yesterday I put a Poulan chain saw on the free section saying the first to e-mail me can have it if they pick it up. I must have received 20 e-mails within 30 minutes. I was able to arrange someone to pick it up so no problem. I even went back and edited the original post saying the saw had been claimed. I didn't delete it just yet so those waiting to hear from me could see it was claimed. I then received the same flagged/remove notice from CL. Any idea what is happening?
  8. Yes I do know I left myself wide open with that statement I'm getting to the point where I want to start looking at putting some time in on the '99. What I need from you folks here is this, I want to locate a smashed 2nd Gen, I dont care about the plastic. It obviously cant look like a pretzel, but I need the hardware off the bike and perhaps some of the sub assembly framework. I will go crazy trying to nickle and dime find all this stuff so I'd like to purchase a complete wrecked bike. I will be watching Crashed Toys and other such sites, but if you could pass on info if you see a wrecked RSV in your local Craigslist or any other listings I would really appreciate it.
  9. OK folks. I have no answers, only questions. Once upon a time in the early days of this forum, I had a "Classifieds" topic area right here in the forum. That worked fine for the most part except that when somebody sold an item, they never posted that it was sold and it became full of items that had been there for months and/or years and nobody knew if it was still for sale or not. Even if it WAS marked sold, it still required me or one of the moderators to constantly go through the ads and delete the threads for the sold items. I determined that a better solution would be the classifieds software which I then purchased and installed. The advantage of the classifieds software is that items are automatically deleted after a pre-determined time unless the seller renews the ad. It really is the best way to do it except for one problem..... People who post their items in the classifies most often feel the need to then come to the forum and post that they have listed their items in the classifieds. That completely defeats the purpose because we are right back where we started, we have thousands of posts of items that we don't know are still available or whatever. Those post end up being here for years and do nothing but take up space, slow down search functions, etc. I've been trying to clean things up a bit but it's a slow process. This morning I did a keyword search for the word "Craigslist" and found over 600 threads of things like "seen on Craigslist"....since ads on Craigslist only run for about 30 days, almost all of those threads are useless now. I've deleted hundreds of threads this morning but still have a long way to go. I haven't even started on the "added to the classifieds" or "for sale" type threads yet. There are hundreds of those also. So what is the solution? A forum area dedicated to "seen on Craigslist" type ads? At least they would all be in one place and I wouldn't have to search the entire forum for them. I could just delete any in that folder that are over 30 days old. Same for "listed in the classifieds" type posts. They could be posted there also and deleted routinely. I'm looking for your suggestions. Unfortunately, there is no function available to automatically delete these forum posts after a certain amount of time. It has to be done manually, that is why they are best kept in the classified section but that does no good at all when a member feels that he has to post it here also. It would be easier if I just did a search, say for "Craigslist" and then just delete them all in one click but not all are items for sale. Some are discussions on how to search Craigslist and various other discussions. I now have to search and then click on and read most every post to determine if it needs to be deleted or not. It takes several hours to do.
  10. Just got a great deal through Kijiji, 2 dozen Titleist & 2 dozen Top-Flite XL3000 golf balls for $25. All brand new still in the plastic wrapping. But, about 2 years ago now, we scored a SOLID cherry bedroom suite (queen sleigh bed, two night stands, long 9 drawer dresser and mens armoir) the ad had been up for a while for $1500, then $1300 and when it came up for $1100 we went to see it. Talked her down to $850 and she showed me the receipts for $5000 one year previous. Her daughter had bought it and then moved for work so mum was selling it for her and it wasn't moving, until dunvilsteev showed up!! THAT was my best deal! And how about y'all? Whats the best scoop you've every got through Kijiji or Craigslist? Love to read about others deals ....
  11. I must admit - I'm addicted to Craigslist!! I check it several times a day and have found some pretty good deals. If you find a really good deal - you need to act fast! Last week I almost got a 2001 BMW Touring bike from a local for $4500 but I was the 3rd person who called and the first guy took it, of course. My best deal was my 2000 MM Venture with 13,000 miles for 6,000. My best deal ever in the local classifieds was an 86 Goldwing Aspencade for $400 and I rewired the stator and sold it for $3,000.
  12. I am contemplating parting with my 2004 RSV. I see there are two equally beautiful '04's listed in the classifieds and I'm not sure if I want to post it there yet. I've trolled a bit on Craigslist and had a few nibbles. Figured I'd check in here to see if there is any interest. Shoot me a PM if you are in the market and/or want more details.
  13. Just happened upon this. I'm off to Pittsburgh this week and was looking at Craigslist to see if there was anything interesting to look at while I am there. Ran across this ad. http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/mcy/584470896.html
