On my way to work thursday morning I had the bad luck of encountering a wayward raccoon. I saw him running straight down the center of the road so I slowed down and proceeded to go nice and wide around him. I got right next to him and he zigged right behind my front wheel and just barely hit underneath on the left hand side of the bike. So I stopped and got out the flashlight to see if anything was damaged. Turns out that little hit shattered both of my lower cowlings. Called the insurance and they were more concerned with me not getting hurt than any damage to my bike. Kind of nice dealing with someone like that for a change. Anyway, called around to check on parts and what a suprise that was. $817 for the pair of green lower cowlings and they have to be shipped from japan.

Trying to remove the front cowlings on my 2007 RSV. I want to check air cleaners and get access to the hidden horn. The button head bolts are removed, cowlings flop around, but I can't get them loose from that dastardly (spelling is correct) little fastener thingy in the middle underneath where the two cowlings meet. Makes me want to scream. Help please?!??!! Mel:Venture:

I'm starting the slow process of reassembly (still waiting to finish paint before installing outer cowlings). The inner cowlings are attached and am slowing going through electrical (radio works, CB has issues)... Anyways, I'm curious about a little green connector on the left forward/upper side of the bike. It has two wires with the connectors that are 90 degrees from each other to form a "T" within the connector. What does this connector connect to? Thanks, WHCC

I only put about 20 miles on my 01 RSV since I got it 2 weeks ago. All write-ups talked about the "bubble of air" protection but never mentioned the stream of air which hits my knees that comes between the upper & lower cowlings. It does have the clear deflectors on the bottom of upper cowling and the wings on the forks. Anyone find after-market deflectors or something that stops or diverts this airflow

Just picked up my cowlings from the body shop. They did a great job. Take a look a the bottom of the cowling, the new part is black over rock guard. The rest of the pics are my new ride and I'm going out now and put some miles on her. Yamaha is getting cheap there's no Run/Stop decal for the kill switch.

I picked up my new 07 a few days ago. While I was doing a walk around on her I noticed a deep scratch in the middle of the lower cowlings. It went straight across both half's and was not there when I was looking at it on the showroom floor. Told the owner about it and man was he upset, his people (kids) did it when they put the bike on the stand to service it before pickup. Of course they didn't say anything to him when they did it, only admitted to it when he asked about it. So the cowlings are at the body shop being repainted. The owner said that I could do anything I wanted to them and he would foot the bill so I'm having the body shop spray rock guard on the bottom and then paint it black. The cowlings were all blue. I will post a picture when I get them back, which I hope is today because I want to go for a ride this weekend. I have all the acc. mounted that I have, I'm waiting for the truck rack, bag rails, stubel horn and grips to come in.
