1. Having recently gotten a bike to rehab that has set awhile I got around to really digging in to it today. Removed the tank and gave it a quart of kerosene to rinse it out. The hoses are a bit checked so they where replaced. Makes sense to at least take off the float bowls and assess whether or not to take it down further. The clamps on the intake boots are loose and the carbs are still a bit snug. The manual makes it sound as if you can remove the carbs right off the boots but I'm a big guy with a large set of easy outs to prove my ability to snap stuff off. Can these be pried up or should I take the boots off right at the head? The only reason I ask is a previous hack covered the boots in some kind of epoxy, I'm guessing they where either split or checked. The bolts are covered and if need be I'll chip away to get them off, just not sure if I need to do it.
2. This is our day today. For you Southern folk, the thing NOT covered is a snow blower:cry: The covered one is an '07 Midnight Venture:mad: Hmm, maybe if I attach one to the other... We're lucky, some places to the east of us got over a foot of the stuff.
3. Couldn't have done it without this forum. Used it once and its paid for itself. Anyone in eastern nc that wants to save a few $ Ive got tools a jack and a covered area to work.
4. I just talked to my insurance agent (Allstate) and she told me that the bike wouldn't be covered when we tow a trail. Has anyone else had this issue?
5. Have dry sounding clicking/clunking sound in rear end of my new 2012 Venture. Can hear it when slowing down at stop signs etc. and also when pushing around in lane-way . Took to dealer today to get opinion and he says it is the needle bearing in rear-end so have appointment for next Mon. to get fixed. Also passing lights blew fuse(have them on all the time ) and couldn't find fuse until dealer remembered it was behind fairing so it has to be torn apart to change. Will get them to move to outside so I can change it later. Rear-end will be covered under warranty but not sure about fuse. Asked about it from sales man and heard mechanic say it was just a fuse BUT it was him who wired fuse behind fairing instead of outside where it is assessable--so I think it should be covered but will see on Mon.(if not covered it is about a 2hr job)
6. I noticed yesterday my left lower faring is cracked. How it happened I haven't got a clue. Has this been a known problem? Would it be covered under warranty? If not does anyone have one or can this one be repaired? Thanks, Melvin
7. My right rear speaker just started making weird noises when I drive. It seems when the wind hits it just right it just loses it's crispness (if that's a word). Should that be covered under warranty? The bike will be 5 years old at Christmas. I called the dealer and he said he would check but sorta said it wasn't. He never got back to me to confirm. If it is not covered I'll have to look at replacing it somehow. Thanks
8. A married couple were killed early Sunday morning when they were rearended by a drunk driver at a stop light. Wonder if this will be covered up like the cop in Indianapolis that killed that biker at a stop light while driving drunk. http://www.centralillinoisnewscenter.com/news/local/Married-Couple-Killed-in-Motorcycle-Accident-127096963.html?fb_comment_id=fbc_10150338535876495_19156833_10150339084931495
9. my son and i are trying to come up with a covered bridge ride something between 2 and 3 hundred miles , we are in central ohio, any sugestions thanks Lee
10. I have both bikes insured through Geico, and while sitting here daydreaming.. when I do some of my best work.. .. I got to thinking about whether or not my new trailer was covered under my current policies like they are on an auto policy. So I called Geico. I found that it wasn't...per se'. At least not the value. So to prevent a wrestling match in the future I added the VIN #, and Value to the policies... There wasn't a change in the premium, but now if it's damaged or stolen it's covered. While on the subject, another insurance area that we've talked about in the past, but haven't seen anything lately, is uninsured AND underinsured coverage. Most MC policies have un-insured, but unless you ask for it, they don't have under-insured coverage. Get in an accident where you're not at fault, and the at fault drivers liability is the bare minium, your insurance company doesn't have to shell out a dime. In the state of California minium is 15/30. Hospital bills will wipe that out in a heart beat. So word to the wise. Check your coverage.
11. I dropped my 06 RSV off last week at the stealership because the rear shock was leaking. Even though you all told me that it was covered under warranty, I still expected them to come back and say it wasn't covered for some obscure reason....Well, I got the call today that my shock was in and they have received approval from Yamaha to replace it! So in a few days I'll have the bike back...Just in time for our 2700 mile trip!
12. I have an 06 RSV that is still under warranty for a few months...The rear shock appears to be leaking now. Is this something that is covered under the warranty?
13. Just got my ironbraid.com leather covered chrome plated levers installed today. They turned out great! I have the two toned 2009 Venture and so I had the leather braids done in cream and black...turned out really well. I also cleaned and lubed the clutch and brake while I had them off. Here are a couple of pictures, sorry about the quality, I used my iPhone (didn't want to break out the camera). By the way...what does the adjustment screw on the brake adjust? the brake light?
14. OK, I was riding to work today, and I noticed what looked like an RSTD at the light waiting to cross in front of me. As he went by, it looked like he had a billett cover between his cylinders kinda like the Roadstar has for the air cleaner. I may have been mistaken but since he had a 2 in 1 exhaust on the one side and I thought I saw another from the back that would indicate 4 cylinders. It looked awsome and covered up the dead space taken up by carbs inside. Any ideas or am I looking at a Roadstar. Nothing in the yamaha catalog on it
15. My Friend Murray has you covered...
16. I just bought this 06 RSV a few weeks ago. It had what I thought was a bent side stand on it because they had modified it by welding about a 3 inch block of steel on the bottom of the stand to keep the bike up to a decent angle. Well I picked up another stand from a gentleman here and put it on today. It leaned over WAY too much. So I propped the bike back up and looked and the only think I can think of is the bracket on the frame that the stand attaches to must be bent or the frame is twisted... So since it's still under warranty I took it in and dropped it off. They are going to look at it on Friday and call it in to see if it's covered... So a couple of questions for you guys: 1. Should this be covered? 2. If it's not covered, what are my options to "modify" it so it will work. The modified stand I have works but will drag the ground in a moderate left lean through a turn... Any help would be greatly appreciated!
17. saw a 1st and 2nd gen. on trailer going up I49 in louisiana, they should've had them covered thats for them HD. don't say anything Squidle:mytruck1:y
18. I having a prob. with my highway lights I have check the seal beams which seem to be okay I'm just wondering if this is covered under the Yamaha Warranty I think it could be a wiring Prob ?
19. I love to camp. This past week end was a camping date for me. Found out real quickly I needed a new tent for wind and cool temps. Need some help on picking a tent that has windows and doors that can be covered. Also want a tent with rain fly that goes to the ground. Something of a 4 season type.
20. I just bought 2006 rstd with 30 day warranty.Returned to dealer because of noise coming from forks which really sounds like a broken spring to me.The suspension seems to work fine so service people say that its worn bushings which wouldnt be covered. Has anyone had this noise(almost like cracking sound) when pushing down on forks or hitting some bumps while riding?
21. finaly get to pick up my bike in time for the 4th. the dealer replace needles and seats. says it was due to gas. covered under warrenty tho. got a carb synch and tuneup out of it.
22. What a great time....thank you Don and Eileen...YOU ARE SUCH PERFECT HOSTS.. So many people to talk to and so little time...Taters and I had so many laughs, my side still hurts today....thank you all for making this event so memorable and THANK YOU ALL FOR donating toward Dons gift and Eileen's roses...We covered the cost of both and I handed Don a little extra to take Eileen out for dinner on us ....THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
23. So, since I'm new and don't know any better, could someone tell me the difference between the 1200 and 1300 carb. diaphragms? Are they different in size or length or maybe they prefer chicken to steak. It looks like there is no difference to me, but this is relatively new to me. I've had this bike for 3 to 4 years and I love it, but I can't bring my self to pay the ridiculous price for some yahoo to fix. I'm pretty handy and had to replace the stator my self three months after I got it...twice. I'm sure you guys (and gals) covered this already and I don't wanna be a bother bringing up old news but the season is about to really get under way here in Wisconsin and I wanna be out there a little earlier this year. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
24. Thats what the cops think she was doing. However she said it was a contact lens malfunction. Just glad she didnt get hurt. Not a scratch. Only 17 so I'm glad she didnt get cut up etc. They live two doors down from where I just moved into. Her pop covered the van and more, so I'll get a nice upgrade. But why is it when you have to ride the bike it rains... Got poured on like 3X in the last week, once at night. Bike loves the rain, not me so much.
25. I found this photo, in my old picture albums, of that first, covered motorcycle, with retractable wheels
