  1. for gas to get back and forth to work ? I consider myself VERY lucky in that I'm retired but it still costs a couple hundred bucks a month for our 2 vehicles. ( 1 car, 1 truck )
  2. Anyone done this? Wondering what it costs. Thanks RSTDdog
  3. Leaving this glacier on Saturday 1-22-11 for Playa Del Carmen Mexico, an thinking about renting a motorcycle for a day, looks like all that is aviailable is the H-----s @ about 200.00 bucks for 24 hours, I am wandering if anyone here as ever rented a motorcycle in Mexico, what insurance costs might be an/or other info that may help full. 2 1/2 months already since the roads have been iced over I am ready for a ride Thanks in advance John
  4. Know this has been here but was just looking again. Someone from Griffin Georgia has a ton of 1st Gen parts listed. Look OK but he didn't get a nibble. Check his shipping costs. About twice what the parts are worth on top end. I would have bid on a couple of those. But I'm probally wrong. I'll just go back to my corner.
  5. I want to do my first valve adjustment this winter. However, I cannot find the special tool (YM-33961). Does anyone have one I could buy or borrow? I'd be happy to pay the shipping costs. Thanks,
  6. Got this e-mail today. My question is what was the price before. $90 for lifetime updates sounds pretty cheap to me, but want to compare to what it was before. Wouldn't sound like such a great deal is say it was $100 before. Now if it was like $250 that's a good savings. We've lowered the price for map updates. Now it costs less to keep your maps updated. This is great news, because streets, highways, and points of interest are constantly changing. So now when you take advantage of our quarterly map updates it costs less to make sure you have access to the most current map data. It’s very easy to do, and you have two great update options from which to choose nüMaps Lifetime™ This one-time purchase, now as low as $89.99, lets you download the most up-to-date map information available...for the lifetime of your Garmin device. No monthly fees, no maintenance costs. You can update every time a quarterly map update is released and not pay again.
  7. I'm going camping with the travel trailer. Going to Arrow Point campground in Loudenville Ohio. We are going to be on site 24, a river front, it's kinda neat watching the canoes floating by. They start about 10 o'clock and by 2 or 3 in the afternoon, half if not more have had way too many bud lights or whatever. The good thing is that most of the river is shallow enough that if they just stand up they'll be fine, however, they still have a lot of trouble getting back in a canoe. It costs $30 a night to camp but the canoe entertainment is well worth it. If anybody is going to be in the area, stop by, I always have a Michelob Ultra for friends. Have a GREAT week end everybody !! I'll try to get some pics for Monday

    Insurance cost

I was hoping someone can answer this question. Why is the insurance so high on my 07 RSTD. Its about $700 a year for full coverage with progressive. I was playing around on their site and a Vulcan 1600 nomad is $200 a year less and even an Ultra classic that costs 10 grand more is $25 a year less. I knew it was higher going in but I was just curious why. Are the replacement parts expensive or do they total easily?
  9. Mini Tank Cover,A soft leather cover that attaches at the base of the gas tank Here its costs $76 out the door Any wher cheaper in the States You'd know
  10. Greetings all A Riding buddy and I are headed for points South from Halifax Canada, down to Key West and meander inland and north for a few weeks in mid May / June. Up til 2000, as a cager, I had used Military Transient Accommodation extensively throughout the US and Europe as a way to keep traveling costs down. Facilities were always clean and very adequate. Does anyone know if Post 9/11, if the bases still allow the uses of facilities such as these, by retired Service Members?
  11. Stood the bike up today and the left grip cracked in my hand. Called Kuryakyn customer service. All they did was to offer to sell me a replacement grip along with shipping costs. I have never seen one of these grips crack. Im just curious if anyone here ever had that happed to them.
  12. Hi guys, just joined your club. I live in the UK and have a '83 Venture std. It was imported from the states nearly 20 years ago. I've only had the bike a couple of months and its been great, love the old girl. No problems with 2nd gear yet (33000 on odo) but she's a slooooowww starter. Never let me down yet though. Question is would a new starter off a later model cure problem, pinwall cycles seem to have a few. I need to be sure as it costs more for shipping and import duties than for part. Other issue is speedo glass has hole in currently taped up, and speedo itself sometimes doesn't work for 3-4 miles then suddenly springs to life. Is this an easy fix? There's one on ebay off a '93 would this fit? Any advice gratefully received. If I get these 2 glitches sorted all I need to do is give her a coat of paint and she'll be good as new.
  13. Just learned about this DriSlide Bike-Aid lubrication product. Looks like the perfect solution for lubricating linkages and cables but it costs about $12 on Amazon and costs $17 to ship to Canada, typical. Anyone in the Great White North familiar with it?
  14. Well folks as much as I hate to do it I'm going to have to raise prices on the lift adapters. Between being squeased 3 ways on costs I really don't have much choice. Cost of steel, shipping, and shipping materials have been going up crazy this last 6 months or more. This being said, new prices will go into effect Aug 17, 09. Any orders prior to this date will be $10 less or at the current costs as they have been. Freestanding adapters will be $145 and Standard lift adapters will be $95. As before these prices include shipping anywhere in the USA. Canadian orders will have added costs . PM or e-mail me for quotes on shipping to Canada. Thanks to all previous customers, Larry
  15. Has anyone here tried this yet? Sounds pretty neat. I wonder how much it costs. . . . Found it for $456 for a pair, maybe? Find a buddy to go in half? Wow!
  16. If I could afford it I would buy it in a heartbeat......you gotta see it to believe it............costs about $150,000.00.......but wait till you see what it does............. Terrafugia
  17. A few months ago a barrel of oil was about $150+ with predictions of over $200, we are now less than $34. On gasbuddy.com, gas is as low as $1.20 in some places. This would be a great thing if we did not have the economy spiraling down in every direction. I am of the opinion that a lot of what we are seeing is directly related to energy costs going up and taking everything else with it. I feel that many families ended up using all their extra income to pay for fuel costs and in turn simply quit buying anything they did not HAVE to buy. Now, with people tightening up, many others have lost their jobs. Greed seems to be controlling the financial industry and sometimes it bites you in the butt, as in giving your money to Madoff, yeah, he "made off" with a lot of peoples money. There are several people that now are saying that all along Madoff was crooked and the Securities and Exchange Commission would not listen. There may be some heads rolling there. I would be interested in what others have to say, but let us not make this a political discussion. RandyA
  18. What are you all using for wiring connections for towing? McHitch has a two piece circuit but it costs around $100. There has to be a better way. Any suggestions???

  20. I'm touching on an area where I know nothing. Well not nothing... I know when I hit the brakes, the front dives pretty good. I've heard and read a little about progressive springs. I've also read that the best thing to do is get springs tuned to you and your bike. For me, that second option would be (hopefully) a moving target. Those that have met me know that I am rather large. The good news is I'm a little less large today than I was last month. I hope to continue that trend for the next 2 or 3 years. Anyway, I don't want to keep replacing springs tuned to the new me. Therefore I'm thinking progressives. Educate me please. What can I expect from them? Can I do these myself? I didn't see a tech article... Can you point to one so I can see whats involved? Lacking that, a brief walk through. Costs? Worth the costs? I'll keep searching and reading other threads, but any and all info helps.
