I have some of the major components coming for a 2003 RSV. Frame, rear suspension, front end, handle bars & controls, foot controls, tank, fenders, seat etc. I am going to use these parts as basis for a hybrid 1st Gen/2nd Gen/VMax. Never having seen a disassembled RSV, it would be helpful if someone could get me as many pictures as available of an RSV in various stages of dis-assembly. This would greatly help on my winter (probably several) project. Gary

The Flying Hovercraft. This is the hovercraft that glides over land and water yet also soars in the air up to 70 mph with the aid of integrated wings. A 130-hp twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled gasoline engine -- turbocharged and fuel-injected -- drives its 60" wood/carbon composite thrust propeller while a 1,100-rpm 34" lift fan inflates its durable vinyl-coated nylon skirt for hovering above the ground. Operating in fresh- or saltwater and up to 30% inclines over sand, mud, grass, swamp, desert, ice, and snow, its wings and horizontal elevator enable pilots to simply hop over water- or land-based obstacles up to 20'-high unsurmountable to a typical hovercraft. A joystick controls three vertical rudders and the elevator, a twist friction-lock throttle controls forward speed, and a variable drive system controls the lift fan for hovering. Braking is provided by lowering the lift fan's rpms; comes to rest on Kevlar composite landing skids. Its low center of gravity and composite fiberglass/PVC hull enable it to operate in winds up to 25 mph and waves up to 6' when in flight. Two nine-gallon gasoline tanks provide a 160-mile range. Supports pilot/passenger payloads up to 600 lbs. for flight. Requires registration as a boat. Special conditions and guarantee limitations apply. Please call 1-800-227-3528 for details. 19' L x 7'8" W x 6'6". (1,100 lbs.) http://www.hammacher.com/Product/Default.aspx?sku=11933 Price: $190,000

After reading many articles on the Go Pro Hero and Drift HD 170 cameras, has anyone used the Drift HD 170 and if so, I would like to know the Pros and Cons in your opinion. I read the posts here on VR about the Go Pro but think I like the aerodynamics, viewing screen, controls and remote on the Drift maybe a little better...but not sure......sooo help me decide .... THANKS ... Freddie

I was riding with a few V rods today and loved the way they were able to lean more While I was scraping pegs. I had Forward controls on my 04 shadow and I just loved them. The only problem was not being able to stand and shift positions. Today I am thinking I could deal with that. I rode 3 hours without having to shift my rear once. I think The seat is breaking in my ass. SO what do you guys think about forward controls.

I Know I have seen custom harleys and choppers with all the controls and hoses hidden inside the bars . Does anyone know how that works or how involved that is. is it possible. Even if its only throttle and electrical and leave the hoses alone.I want to see more of the bar and less clutter.

Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum and I'm not sure if this has been discussed before. I did have a good look through the threads but couldn't find anything that could help. So I'm hoping that someone here can help me. I have a Royal Star that I have stripped down to be repainted and some some TLC wotk on as well. Bike 1997 Royal Starr XVZ1300 I have done the following work; Hand Polished Controls New Clutch Cylinder New Foot Controls Resprayed New Battery Filters etc Many other little bits now worth mentioning. I put it back together last week and tried to crank it over and the starter motor spins but there is no spark at the spark plugs. As the starter motor spins and the coils and leads were fine prior to the work I did (it was starting and going fine), I think that the digital igniter might be blown. Does this happen? When I hooked it all up and tried to crank it the first few times I did hear a pop from under neath the seat sounding like a fuse blowing. But all the fuses were fine. If it is the igniter is it better to get a performance after-market one such as the Dynatek 3000 one? Thanks for you help in advance.

I may be the only one, but when looking at the radio controls, and how they are mounted they look out of place. Also I dont like having to move my hand to adjust the volume. I realise they are mounted so that they sit "flat" or "level" when the bike is upright but looking at other things like master cylinders being on a slope just makes the control look ot of place. So I am modifying my ounting bracket. Ill post pictures tomorrow. Looks like this now http://im1.shutterfly.com/media/47a1dc06b3127ccefc223ca38bbf00000030O08AZtmjJo0aOAe3nws/cC/f%3D0/ps%3D50/r%3D0/rx%3D550/ry%3D400/ Bracket before modification http://im1.shutterfly.com/media/47a1dc06b3127ccefc236e5cab2500000030O08AZtmjJo0aOAe3nws/cC/f%3D0/ps%3D50/r%3D0/rx%3D550/ry%3D400/ Modified http://im1.shutterfly.com/media/47a1dc06b3127ccefc23c51c6a9800000030O08AZtmjJo0aOAe3nws/cC/f%3D0/ps%3D50/r%3D0/rx%3D550/ry%3D400/ Remounted it and closed the "gap" I ground out untill it was in perfect line with the master cylinder angle http://im1.shutterfly.com/media/47a1dc06b3127ccefc230eeaaba300000030O08AZtmjJo0aOAe3nws/cC/f%3D0/ps%3D50/r%3D0/rx%3D550/ry%3D400/ Welded and ground down http://im1.shutterfly.com/media/47a1dc06b3127ccefc23cb96eb2500000030O08AZtmjJo0aOAe3nws/cC/f%3D0/ps%3D50/r%3D0/rx%3D550/ry%3D400/ Now I used a small amount of JB Weld to put a skim coat on it to cover grind marks. It is drying now. By tomorrow I will have it sanded, primed, and painted. Ill post finished pics tomorrow. The fit is awesome now. Cannot wait to get this little mod done so my thumb will reach controls and it looks more in place.

It's taking me a little bit of effort to get used to the heel-toe shifter. Plus, my current riding boots are worn out and it is time tor eplace. I am thinking about getting a set of cowboy boots, but I am wondering how well the work with the controls. My size 12 foot barely fits between the two shifter pegs as it is. Anyone else ride with forward controls and cowboy boots?

Anyone have this unit? Not thinking about buying it. I was at a friend's house last night and he installed this unit in his Venture. It is made for hotrods, classic cars and such so it is not waterproof. He did get caught in a downpour once but he said the unit itself didn't get wet. He said moisture still got in it and after a couple days it cleared up. He was scared there for a bit that he might be losing the radio after he just bought it due to this. He took out the cassette player, but the amplifier in its' place. He said it was the same size and put the face plate where the cassette door used to be. He likes the controls much better. They way he did it, he did remove the Venture Controls on the handlebar. The only thing he lost is CB, but he doesn't use it anyway. http://www.dreamershotrods.com/customautosoundsecretaudiossthiddenradio.aspx

ok, i have floor boards and highway boards.....just bought the 86 royal, (first full dresser) former cruiser styles....wanted to test the waters on an older bike first....found a very well kept up and beautiful one.................with the heal toe shifter, brake and boards, i find myself not being able to brake as fast as i like because of my own coordination......boards sit up high and lifting my toes to the brake is not a natural feel to me at all. they look great and r great under ur feet, just thinking of my comfort and safety. anyone else feel this way? anyway to put forward controls on or lower the boards and controls? if not.....what do i need to put stock pegs and controls back on? does anyone have some and want to throw in some cash for these boards? any info anyone has would be a huge help......

It just might be thinking (scary thought aye?) but has anyone come up with an alternative to the controls that the 1st gen has? Let me go deeper. Spending time on momma's CB750, the controls can get fairly aged just like some of ours. So, those forum members started using some newer XJ/XS Yammi controls that they were able to wire up, function and look great. Every once in a while I cruise ebay a bit. Today I noticed some chrome second gen controls with what looks to have what we have minus the choke. They do look nice. All the 1st gen controls on ebay are complete crud. So, back to my question, will this work? I am no electrician at all and wiring diagrams make my stomach queasy. Are the bar sizes the same?

Was wondering if anyone has had experience on this issue? Seems like the touch screen wont work too well with riding gloves on. Was also wondering if the wheel controls on the nano and/or classic are big enough to use with gloves on? I searched the threads and it looks like the ipods are working for people, but wasn't sure on the controls. Would appreciate any help/thoughts. Thanks. Bob

hey guys, I'm having a problem of something running the batt. down over a period of 2-3 days if I don't start the bike or put in on a batt. maintainer. I have run it down to one of the blade type fuses in the fuse box that is located to the right front of the batt. location. It is a 15 amp fuse, but I can't find any info as to what circuit that fuse controls. It never blows the fuse, just runs the batt. down. If anyone knows what circuit that fuse controls, I could sure use the info. Thanks in advance. Don H .

Been wondering for a while whether feet forward or feet under would be more comfortable for touring. I've seen quite a number of comments that Gen 2 are more comfortable than Gen 1. In what way are they more comfortable? There are a lot of people who have gone from Cruiser style forward controls to Sport Touring bikes with controls under or even further back than Gen 1 and find them better. Seems to me sitting with your weight more on your thighs would be more comfortable than with it on your tailbone. This is a serious question and not intended to stir up any controversy. Of course, a little controversy is always a bonus.

This isnt trying to spark ANOTHER debate. you all know i am new to this and i finally got bored enough to search for pictures of a First Gen. I saw a picture of someone sitting on their seat and took a picture of the controls. I swear the first thing that popped in my mind was "ground control to major tom"
