I'm in the market for a Bluetooth headset. I just ordered a zumo 665 and docks for all the scooters and I need a Bluetooth headset to connect all the gadgets. Any suggestions?

OK so I have a Garmin 765t. It has blutooth capabilities. I have recently found pandora, such a cool deal. So my question is instead of using the MP3 player on the GPS can I connect my via bluetooth and use my phone to connect to pandora and it play thru the bikes comm system? I havent had a chance to just go out and try it.

Been thinking about getting a Bluetooth headset/intercom. Semi decided to get the Sena SMH10 because it is well rated as an intercom and seems to have the best sound. Found the Cardo Scala G9 which is new on the market but haven't found a review yet. A bit pricey but sure looks good as it will connect with up to 9 bikes although don't know how good the speakers are. Thought I would bring it to your attention.

Anyone ever have issues hooking up your wii/netflix account to the internet wirelessly. When I 1st did it about a year ago the very 1st movie worked flawlessly. Ever since providing I can even connect w/out disconnecting the router power cord and plugging back in, it will literally lose the connection about every 18 minutes. I have tried everything I can think of and have pretty much given up trying to connect to netflix via the wii. I don't think is the router because I don't have this issue w/ the wireless laptop.

I apologize, I don't know that much about the Bluetooth helmet headsets, but I like the flexibility with Bluetooth to connect to my phone, GPS, etc. Is there an interface to connect a Bluetooth helmet headset into the RSV intercom, stereo and CB? Being able to do away with that annoying headset cord would be awesome.

I was getting ready to buy a SPOT II, and went to their homepage to check the annual subscription. That's when I saw the notice of the upcoming SPOT Connect. The SPOT Connect pairs with your [Android] smart phone to enable you to send SMS and short emails over SPOT's satellite system. On close inspection, it doesn't look that different than the SPOT II functionality. The difference is that the interface comes from your phone. It connects using Bluetooth; not sure how having this paired with my phone will work when my phone is paired to my helmet. It is available only for Android 2.0 or later; unfortunately for you Apple and Blackberry fanboys, they are targeting smart consumers. The SPOT Connect is available at the end of January. Pricing [at REI] seems to be the same as on the SPOT II. Not sure about data plans. Anyone hear any buzz on this? Dave http://findmespot.com/images/spot_connect/connect_prod.png

My Bike, being an 83 Standard, did not have the factory intercom or CB, and I picked up an Autocom Active Duo system last year from a friend who hardly ever used it. The intercom works flawlessly, and as well as connecting the MP3 player and cell phone, with seamless VOX operation for both driver and passenger. The Autocom has an additional Aux 4 connection for bike-to-bike communication, primarily for CB or other radio. The standard VOX operation applies to the CB as well, which is a bit of a pain, as the driver and passenger would be merrily sharing their conversation with everyone within CB range. Acknowledging in hindsight that this may be inconvenient, Autocom offered optional Push to Talk (PTT) cables for a fee. Long story short – as I have used it so far, my system works wonderfully and I am very happy with it, but I would now like to connect a CB for bike-to-bike... primarily so Marcarl can let me know when the next coffee/ice cream stop is coming up. The crux is that Autocom seems to have temporarily suspended business while new ownership takes over and their days of creating custom cables tailored to the specific CB (or other) radio you wish to connect to are over. However, how hard can it be ? I have the pinouts for the Aux 4 connection from the Autocom system, and I have the pinouts from the mic connection from the Uniden 510XL CB that I wish to use. The Uniden uses the mic button to switch the radio from “Receive” to “Transmit”, so I am thinking I need a Double Pole, Double Throw Push button to select between the two (using the COMMON or Screen), with Receive being the Normal position. The VOX on the Autocom should take care of providing the input from my headset to the MIC OUT pin which needs to go to the MIC pin on the CB. The CB has a connection for an external speaker at the rear... a 2.5 mm jack, which I need to connect to the SPEAKER IN on the Autocom. Can I do this ? At first glance, 2 output wires cannot both go to one pin. However, if one is a common or ground, then I only need to determine the hot wire, and connect it to the SPEAKER IN, correct ? Secondly, if the output of the CB through that jack is 7 watts, is there anything I can do to limit that so that the Autocom system does not get overloaded ? Sorry for not providing a wiring diagram but electrical drawings are not my forte... I can usually read them, but creating them is a whole other issue. Any input/advice would be greatly welcomed.

Thinking about getting one for my 05 RSTD, but of course they don't list a mounting bracket for this bike. Does anybody know if any of the other models will connect to the stock windshield quick disconnect mounts? Didn't know if maybe the Roadstar or Vstar brackets might work.

I am in the process of installing Polk speakers. For those of you that have done this mod, how did you connect the speakers to the existing speaker wires? Solder etc.... Thanks, Steve

My wife bought us a `01 RSV with only 2700 miles on it, and we picked it up yesterday, This bike is brand new, the only thing I have noticed, is that at the bottom of the Radiator where the fairings connect to each other, it looks like maybe there is a peice missing, or maybe just missing a bolt, any Ideas?? Is this common on these bikes?? Thanks

Was on a group ride this weekend and someone mentioned about a cheap mod we can do on the Venture to gain a couple hp. He said the Vmax is (or was) already setup like this. I don't remember the entire name but the last word was Ram. Something about tying the left 2 cylinders together and tying the right 2 cylinders together. Might be something as simple as taking a tube and connect to the spots where you connect the carbtune to. He said it works great in warm weather but will take longer for the engine to warm up in colder weather. Anyone heard of this? Not sure if I want to do this or not, but I would be interested in researching it at least.

Sorry to keep coming to you guys..........I ain't electrically inclined. I am in the process of installing passing lights and mount on my 2004 Venture R/S. Does the turn signal wires connect in the fairing? I know I connect them to the lower portion of the mounting but I am trying to disconnect the turn signals and just removing the bolts, etc from the turn signal mount doesn't do the job. Where do you disconnect the wiring? I'll probably be back to ask another question but this will get me started. Thanks.

Hello everyone I'm new to the RSV and have a basic question about the intercom. We currently have the Chatterbox wireless. I would like to connect these headsets to the RSV intercom system. I assume we simply need two cables to connect from the helmet to the intercom jack? Anything else that might cause problems? Thanks! Jerry

As always there are a lot of electrical issues coming up in these forums maney of which are ground related. Most go through a lot of agravation checking there grounds only to find out there is nothing wrong with the ground. True you should always eliminate any possible ground faults as a first step in diagnosing electrical issues. so here is a very useful and simple test to verify your ground condition. what you need a voltmeter a high beam headlight two 3 ft lengths of wire two aligator clips A) connect an alligator clip to one end of each wire B) connect the other end of each wire to a terminal on the high beam headlight 1) connect voltmeter to battery and record the voltage reading eg: 12V 2) connect the alligator clips from the high beam to the batt and record the resulting reading eg: 11.5 V the difference is your voltage drop eg: 0.5 v 3) disconnect the high beam aligator clip and the volt meter test lead from the neg post of the battery only 4) connect the volt meter neg lead to the engine block and read record the voltage reading eg: 12v 5) connect the alligator clip from the high beam to the same point on the engine block and not the voltage eg: 1) 11.2 v voltage drpo is relitivily close to that recorded in step (2) your ground to the engine is good you need not look any further. If for example your voltage upon connecting the high beam dropped to say for eg: 7v than you have a ground issue and need to locate it 6) repeat steps (4 & 5) but connect to the frame of the bike to test if the frame has a proper or faulty ground. this test takes only several minutes to perform and is far more reliable than using an ohmeter because an ohmeter does not load up the circuit which would pass under a light currant load but fail under a heavy load. slight modifications of this test can be used to load test any wire on the bike and will instantly reveal if a wire or circuit is sound or faulty with out having to tear the whole bike down eleminating a lot of unecessary work. By leaving the voltmeter and head light connected to the neg side of the battery and moveing the positive side connections in the same maner the positve side of you electrical system can also be tested you must take more care however when loading up the positve side of the electrical system to be sure you don't accidently load up a sensitive component in the sysem by mistake. In such case i often disconnect both ends of the circuit apply voltage to one end of the wire and connect my voltmeter and then my test load to the other end.

:no-no-no::no-no-no: I tore apart my 99 Venture to paint it. While cleaning it yesterday I realized I had not disconnected the battery before disconecting all of the electrical conectors and the spedometer cluster. How badly did I screw up? I have not gotten the parts back to install on the bike and do not want to connect the cluster until I reassemble the bike. Has anyone ever done this and not had to spend the big bucks to fix it?......Please say it'll be ok, i'm just sick!!! Thanks for any input guys. Big Mike.......Who's wallet may be shrinking BIG TIME!!!

I just went through our office managers PC. Installed all the latest Microsoft updates,AVG antivirus update,Spyware/Malware scan and reg clean, HDD defrag, and upgraded her ram. The machine has been running excellent for a week. I came back this evening and after she opened an email from another employee ZAP. All crap breaks loose. The Firewall is turned off,Windows update disabled,Antivirus disabled, Internet explorer won't run, and we can't connect to the internet. It does boot up normal but that is about it. I tried a system restore to a previous point but it won't allow that either. I think a bad virus has grabed it but I'll run a hdd utility in the morning. ANY Ideas or similar experiences?

help my 1983 venture has a cracked frame
Guest posted a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
does anyone know if my frame where the swing arm and centerstand connect could be welded ? I will greatly appreciate any advise thank you joel morgan -
yeah, I know been beaten to death. I searched several posts and still can't find the answer. If I were to mount it on the brake side of the bike, I can use an L bracket and tie into a pink and brown wire on 2 relay posts If I were to mount it in the fairing (which is how so far I have chosen to do), one relay post still goes to the pink wire, but not sure about the other wire. If there is a brown wire in the fairing, please let me know where. Any other options? A. Pink horn wire goes to RELAY POST 85. B. Brown horn wire goes to Relay Post 86. C. Connect one end of a wire to Relay Post 30 and the other end to the Hot side,+, of the compressor D. Connect end of your 20 amp Fused line to Relay Post 87 and the other end to the Hot Post,+, of your Battery. E. Connect the negative,-, on compressor to ground or neg,-, post on battery Also I have been reading about the feedback issue. Has anyone that has mounted it in the fairing still had the feedback issue? I am considering getting a seperate button and just wiring it seperately from the stock button if that will eliminate any feedback issue. From what I have understood the closer to the battery you install the fuse, the better off you are. Anyone else have this same understanding? Thanks.

I recently bought a Zumo 550 GPS system, and I am trying to connect it to my 07' RSTD. I was hoping someone here might have a suggestion as to where to connect the wires. The owners manual talks about the auxiliary connector under the seat near the battery, but i didn't know if that could be used in this situation. I'm not the greatest with electrical components. Any advice? Thanks -bjmstar82

I have a 1986 Venture Royale with 50k on it . I have replaced all the diaphrams and want to synchronize the carbs. My problem is the #4 cylinder has full vacuum all the time and when I connect the Carbtune the vacuum tries to suck the fluid out. I am new at this and would appreciate any help.
