new to me 1983 Yamaha venture. Well I put in a new fuse block and all was well until......I found a black wire hanging down by the lower part of engine. Dummy me I just ASSUMED it was a ground then I blew a fuse....ugh well after I finally figured out it was a spliced in power wire for some marker lights I hooked it up the right way. So then I noticed the computer display thing is not working at all, I mean nothing, so what the crap did I do now. I have power to all fuse sides and what not. I unplugged the display and it had some power going to some of the wires with the key on (not sure which ones I shall check). anybody have a clue what I did? Did I fry it somehow. O I don't think headlight is working either but not sure on that part I didn't try to start it just nothing by turning key on only. Ok well that's enough wind for now.

I bought a new to me Honda shadow ace750.. 2000. that will be here this spring. so looks like some good times might be my way. if I was in that Christmas contest I would have to say this year would be one of my many best ones. good family and good friends here who could ask for more?

Any member here who uses a computer to read this site ( and that would be all of us) is using technology that Steve Jobs brought to the world. The loss of one of technology's greatest minds will surely affect us all in ways that we will never know. If you use a computer screen, a keyboard, a mouse, surf the internet, read email, listen to an iPod, have ever seen a Pixar movie (such as Toy Story, Finding Nemo, or Cars) or use a touchscreen smartphone, you can thank Steve. If you have not seen Steve Jobs famous commencement speech at Stanford University in 2005, here it is. It is very much worth watching. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UF8uR6Z6KLc]Steve Jobs' 2005 Stanford Commencement Address - YouTube[/ame] And this article in the LA times is just one of thousands of items written about Steve in the last couple of weeks. http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-steve-jobs-obit-20111006,0,7210103.story Even Bill Gates and President Obama paid tribute to this man. I was surprised that there seemed to be no threads on this forum mentioning his death. Thanks for reading this, and, Thank you, Steve.

When I turned on my laptop a little while ago, a screen came up that said I had been viewing copy righted material or even child porn and the FBI had locked up my computer. The only way I could get it unlocked was to got to a store that sells the green cards and put $100 on it and use the information to load on to their page and within 1 to 48 hours, my computer would be unlocked. The only way I could get around it was to manually shut down my computer with the on/off button and then when I hit the on button, I held the ESC button until it came up in the safe mode. I was able to do a restore to an earlier date and when I restarted it, it seems to be working OK. I checked with Snopes and there are some Sober viruses that sound similar to this. Has anyone heard of this? RandyA

The error codes on the compressor for a 86 , e4,e2, what do they mean? I heard the guys talking about how the rear shock could just be a regular shock and wondered where to look and what to read up on for anyone doing this? I think the computer is the issue with my loss of air.

He is well, but working harder than ever since retiring. He has been doing a bit of fishing (when it's not too hot) and keeping busy trying to catch up on all those little things he didn't have time for while working. He also just purchased a new computer and is the proces of getting it set up and should be back on line soon. Like most of us, he has found out that retirement is a hard job.....

Anytime I try to respond to anything on Craigs List or other things, my computer automatically goes to Windows Live Mail and I have never set it up and don't even know how to get into it. I use Comcast mail and Yahoo. I need to either set it up or change it to go to an account I now use. Any suggestions? If giving suggestions, please make it basic. I am somewhat computer challenged. Thanks, RandyA

I found out something very interesting today. My 2005 Ford Escape died on the side of the road. (Yes I know what FORD stands for!) It seemed like it was being starved for fuel..but I checked and the pump and the filter were just fine. So I had it towed to the dealer. It seems the platinum plugs that are supposed to be good for over 100,000 km (60,000 miles) are NOT! In fact...what happens is as the plug wears, the gap increases. This causes the coils (one for each plug) to work harder which in turn causes radio frequency interference which fries the main computer. So...my dead truck cost me -6 new plugs at $8 each. -6 new coils at almost $100 each:mo money: Plus the new PCM or TCI or whatever they call the main computer a$1,125 (or if could try and find a used one at $750) To change the rear plugs and coils they have to remove part of the intake manifold so lots of labor and a gasket to boot. Total cost of the repair? $2,550.00:mo money: All because of worn out plugs. (my truck only has 90,000 km) The mechanic is the son of a family friend, and he suggested the main computer might not be fried....that I should change coils and plugs and try it. He said the bad parts could cause the computer to show as bad also. I might get lucky...but then again this is ME we are talking about. :mo money:I got it towed home and will try to do it myself.... Did I mention $2500????:crying: So there goes the international, :smile5:Friday the 13th, some safety chrome and a few other things like food and utilities for the next few months.

For the last couple of days, this site has been giving me the error message that A SCRIPT IN INTERNET EXPLORER IS RUNNING TOO SLOW, DO YOU WANT TO STOP RUNNING THAT SCRIPT? (YES or NO). Just before this comes up, my computer freezes for about 10 seconds. This happens every time I open a new page. Is anybody else having this problem? Frank D.

I'm running VISTA Home 64 bit. I have both 32 bit and 64 bit IE version 9 installed The computer did an automatic upgrade of Flash player even though it says it is not compatable with Vista 64 bit. I've tried (several times) to download a different version but it always seems to default to version 11. Any suggestions? I can't view a lot of YouTube stuff because it needs Flash.

I came up on the waiting list today and was able to order one of the Raspberry Pi single board computers. Paid for it via Paypal. Says up to 3 week delivery time. Raspberry Pi is a single board computer the size of a cigarette pack. Runs linux. total cost for the computer was $43 inc postage. requires a usb keyboard & mouse & video (one of several options). And a way to download their version of linux to a 4gb SD memory card. Or you can buy a pre-loaded memory card for another $18. The computer was designed by some university types in the UK for use by school kids learning to program. But at the price, a lot of people who want to try linux and programming are going to buy one. http://www.raspberrypi.org/

I have a 91 venture royale 1300. The computerized monitor, fuel gauge, and clock along with the computer leveling air suspension system is blank and does not work. I am wondering if this is a computer problem? I have traced the wires on the leveling system and they seem to be ok. The only thing that is displayed on that is the PSI sign itself. Nothing else will show. The actual pressure of the front and rear will not display. I can not set the pressure or check the pressure with the automatic adjust on the monitor. It is separate from the cluster on the dash and that is why I am wondering if it is a computer problem? I did buy a instrument cluster on ebay, just in case mine was bad. I did not really think it was, but I got the cluster for 26 bucks and was told everything worked on it. I figured it was a good investment as I have seen them go for 100-800 bucks on ebay. As cheap as I got it for I figured it was worth it as it might come in handy some time. I am leaning towards it being a computer problem tho. Everything to do with a computer read on this bike does not work. Fuel gauge, clock, suspension psi etc. I have not gotten the cluster out yet to trace wires, but have on the leveling system. Everything else works on this bike. All electrical, gauges, lights etc. Anyone have any input on what I need to look for on trouble shooting the computer? Thanks in advance for any input. I intend on tracing the wires on the dash and repairing and fixing any wire or connections as I do, but I am thinking this is a computer problem as it effects other things related to the computer that is not in the cluster. I have this half way tore down tracing wires and it has been a nightmare so far....

My computer keeps kicking on like its running something even when not in use. Sounds like a high speed fan running it may run for 30 sec. to a min. haven't timed it. Everything else seems to be normal.

This is a true story from the WordPerfecthelpline. Needless to say, the help desk employee was fired; however, he/she is currentlysuing the Word Perfect organization for "Termination without Cause." Actual dialogue of a former WordPerfect CustomerSupport employee with a caller: "Ridge Hall computer assistant; may I help you?" "Yes, well, I'm having trouble with WordPerfect." "What sort of trouble?" "Well, I was just typing along, and all of a sudden the words went away." "Went away?" "They disappeared." "Hmm. So what does your screen look like now?" "Nothing." "Nothing?" "It's blank; it won't accept anything when I type." "Are you still in WordPerfect, or did you get out?" "How do I tell?" "Can you see the C: prompt on the screen?" "What's a sea-prompt?" "Never mind. Can you move the cursor around on the screen?" "There isn't any cursor, I told you, it won't accept anything I type." "Does your monitor have a power indicator?" "What's a monitor?" "It's the thing with the screen on it that looks like a TV. Does it have a little light that tells you when it's on?" "I don't know." "Well, then look on the back of the monitor and find where the power cord goes into it. Can you see that?" "Yes, I think so." "Great. Follow the cord to the plug, and tell me if it's plugged into the wall." ".......Yes, it is." "When you were behind the monitor, did you notice that there were two cables plugged into the back of it, not just one?" "No." "Well, there are. I need you to look back there again and find the other cable." ".......Okay, here it is." "Follow it for me, and tell me if it's plugged securely into the back of your computer." "I can't reach." "Uh huh. Well, can you see if it is?" "No." "Even if you maybe put your knee on something and lean way over?" "Oh, it's not because I don't have the right angle - it's because it's dark." "Dark?" "Yes - the office light is off, and the only light I have is coming in from the window." "Well, turn on the office light then." "I can't." "No? Why not?" "Because there's a power outage." "A power... A power outage? Ah, Okay, we've got it licked now. Do you still have the boxes and manuals and packing stuff your computer came in?" "Well, yes, I keep them in the closet." "Good. Go get them, and unplug your system and pack it up just like it was when you got it. Then take it back to the store you bought it from." "Really? Is it that bad?" "Yes, I'm afraid it is." "Well, all right then, I suppose. What do I tell them?" "Tell them you're too stupid to own a computer."

I just got off the phone with a person having an East Indian accent claiming to be from Internet Canada. They claimed that my computer may be passing and receiving Malware and wanted access to my PC to fix this. I obviously declined, and then googled the number. It appears this number 760-705-8888 has also been related to other scams such as wanting your hydro info etc. They were very persistant and they even asked me go into my computer mangement folder so I could see the errors for myself. Fortunatly I am fully aware that this file will from time to time show errors and warnings, but for someone who is not it makes the whole thing sound very legit. At which piont they offer to correct this, you need only to give them access to your PC. Needless to say I declined and strongly suggested they go fly a kite. I also found this interesting link when I googled the number http://tragicswake.com/2011/03/phone-scam-warning-760-705-8888/
