Tomorrow morning Eileen and I are off for a week in tropical Wisconsin. Going to the company resort for a week. HOPING to do some snowmobiling but I'm not sure the snow is going to show up. We'll see. Anyway, we will be spending a week at the company resort near Hayward, WI on Round Lake. I will have internet service but won't be on as much as I usually am. Hopefully any issues that come up will wait until I return next weekend.

The tow company just left with my bike, actually it now belongs to an auction company. i am now officially without a bike . But an was looking over us on 12-13-14 when we totaled it. I can't express how much i've enjoyed and learned from this site over the past 6+ years. i'm torn whether to quit the site or continue to participate. the reason i entertain quitting is that it will be a constant reminder that my riding days are done and quite honestly feel somewhat envious of you all that still ride . i guess i'll just wait and see how it goes. i'm adding several photos of the bike as it was leaving. by looking at the pics the bike doesn't look totaled but the repair price was in excess of $12.5K. Ride safe ya'll.

I just wanted to let everyone know how pleased and professional this company is. One of the most pleasurable company to deal with. I have been working with Jim to get better braking power on my dad's 07 trike. He sent us new brake shoes and the larger rotors right before Christmas. During the time I was at dad's we worked on the bike. The brake pads didn't fit the calipers so we just didn't use them because the ones on there were still good. Went to put the wheels on and they didn't fit, wheel hit the caliper. So I called and got Jim's voice mail saying he was out until after the holidays, expected really. I called today and left a message for him to call me back. He did promptly and now he is going to send new calipers with all the fittings to get all the new stuff on. I am really happy this company stands behind their kits and helps owners of older models upgrade to their newer equipment. If or when I get a trike it will be a Hannigan for sure.

Seems like everytime I grab one of those tasty little morsels I always get the one with the nasty tasting stuff in the middle. Well this week I got one with the creamy caramel centers. After 5 months of unemployment, during which time I attended and passed a CDL course on Tuesday, not ten minutes before I was to jump into the truck to take my road test i recieved a phone call from another company( not trucking related) that I applied to to come in on thursday for my second interview. Had my first interview the week before, didn't think it went well. So I go back to the trucking company where the school is that I attended and am told to fill out a application with them. Next day I get a call back from them saying I can start as a trainee sometime in the next couple of weeks...What to do, what to do? Well, I went to the interview with the other company ( big box retail company) this morning. The HR manager hands me a slip of paper with a hourly pay rate and ask me if this amount is ok with me. After picking myself up off the floor and pushing my mouth shut , I said I guess it will do. It was way more then I ever expected to be offered. Again, what to do,what to do? So I told her that I just got my CDL And she says, that's great we can use you as a back up delivery driver and a dept. manager.... Now I ask you, what do you think I did?......I start next week with the big box company.

Looks like there is a company on the west edge that is taking advantage of the firearms craze. They are taking orders, taking the money, and not shipping anything!! Looks like I am getting taken for $133.00. Internet search shows other folks recently complaining. I will give them the 10 days they show on their website for shipping any out of stock items. Then I guess off to the credit card company. Lets hope they are just backlogged. Because it looks like they have sold firearms to a few people and not delivered!! Please be careful folks, I made a couple checks before ordering but did not go deep enough. They had magazines advertised for a couple of my pistols at a good price. Supposedly they have a brick and mortar store here: Personal Choice Outfitters International 25560 W US Highway 85 Buckeye, AZ 85326-5282 Local:(623) 386-7261 JB

Ordered a couple Battery Tender Jr from Jafrum.com, on sale today for $17.99. $8.95 shipping on orders under $100. Did a little Christmas shopping get the free shipping. Read good reviews here about the company, some mixed reviews on other sites, will see if I get what I ordered.

Well as some may remember, Wife, youngest daughter, and I moved to N.C. almost 3 months ago now. Well after the dust settled, we started looking hard for work. I scored first by picking up a job running a earth mover (scraper) for a place just North of us, 52 miles one way. I workeded for 2 weeks with 3 other guys, who all found this job on craigslist. The boss made lots of great promises and told us all how great his company was, and how well we were all doing, But at the end of 2 weeks he couldnt pay us. We then discovered that it was only a 4 week job and he did this to a crew before us. We were all done. We all felt pretty dumb for falling for his BS. We all had to make a dozen calls to people and eventually got our pay 6/7 weeks later and of course we were shorted with only about 50% of what was promised. I swore then that Id never take or even look at craigslist for another job and went back to other methods. After about a week and half of not working, I started to get real nervous again, and a fella called me about a mechanic's job. I have all the tools and used to do this also. He said the guys that worked there made between 55 and 60k a year. I was pretty excited. I loaded up my tools and went to work. I worked there for 3 weeks and discovered he, also wasnt on the up and up. We was on call for 24/7 and wasnt making much. Calculated up my hours verses pay and it came to about 6 dollars an hour. I busted my tail for them too- wanting to show how dedicated and a hard worker I was. During the time I was there I asked him how he got my info- said that I had answered his ad on craigslist, ( i put in so many apps that I was no longer sure). Did I mention Dont ever even look on Craigslist for a job?? Well during my last week there and while I was waiting for my first check (paid every 2 weeks so had to wait almost 3 to get one) I got a call from UPS. I talked to a very nice man named Junior, he was interested in me for a machanic spot that had just opened up. After 2 weeks of interviews and tests, I found out that I was chosen out of the other 7 or 8 apps. I am very excited to say that I start Monday! I will be doing what I like, for a company that has been around for 105 years. I get benifets, and can join the union after 45 days. Meanwhile wife has found a job, working in a office for the second largest construction company in the state, they love her and it looks great. Daughter also found a job with a computer tech company that works with airports around the east coast. her job really looks good also. So after a long scary past year and a half since wife and I both lost our jobs in Michigan, things are looking good and we're very excited about the future again!!

Well, Erv and I are adjusting to the place sans Rocket and Grump. Having those guys here was an absolute delight! Good company, late nights and a "home-brew beer tasting event" which occured the night after a tequila and whiskey tasting event. We had plenty of food, plenty of chatting, and good company. So glad to have these guys hang out and just commune. Even with all the libations, things stayed low-key, friendly, and created warm memories. Paul even found one of Black Owl's roosts! (note the arrows in the eyes) Thank you both, Paul and Rod, for enriching our lives. we had some storms over the past few days. some heavy wind and rain. there was no trees down where i live. but lots of rain. well today i went out and washed my black pontiac grandprix and waxed it till it looked great. i then cme home and parked it.of course under a over hanging tree. i was going to go out and get some fast food when i saw somethig on the car. yep it was 2 tree branches about 4 feet in leant on the roof and the hood of the car. also the rear quater panel on drivers side was scratched. i called nation wide and i be damn there was a ajuster in the area and he would stop by. seems like im not the only one. he looked over my car and said hey the rear quarter panel has som rust bubbles by the fuel door. and there are some on the roof? and said the insurance company wont cover them? hey there are deep scratches and i left the branches on the car. he said sorry but he,s sure all they will cover is the hood. im so pissed i been with this company for almost 10 years never filed a claim on any of my cars in 25 years. and i got a $500 deductable. damn what luck huh? think i will shop around for another company. this company said they drop a $100 for every year you dont file a claim i say bull poop.. i can get the whole car repainted for $1500. not sure id a 2005 pontiac with 65000 miles on it is worth the paint job but she runs like a top. ok im done with my rant now

Bought a new2me trailer off Craigslist this morning to replace the stolden Motorvation. A black 2003 American Legend Sport. It had been towed behind a Road King and it's grungy as all get out around the front end. So it's going to take a while before I can peal off the soot. Me thinks the Harley had a problem.... One thing interesting is the ice chest is identical to the one I had on the Motorvation. There must be a company out there making these things for MC Trailer Manufacturers...?? It also came with the complete ball and receiver off the RK. Also grungy as h3ll, but cleanable. It's one of the vertical type that fits up inside the fender with a 'L' shaped stinger. I'll probably sell it to recoup some of my outlay... Anyway it's a happy day in Mudville.......

I suppose it was just a matter of time, but I have been laid off. My company, despite having almost 50,000 employees across the world, cannot keep me busy. I'm not surprised, because despite looking for two months, I can't find a company hiring for my core job (airport planner). My last day is next week some time. I get benefits through the end of the month. I would like prayers for a successful job search. Clearly, this is more than I can do alone. But mostly, I would like prayers for my wife, Jamie. She worries much, and I know this will tear her up. She is blameless in this, has faith in me, and is my support. She deserves the calming presence that prayers can provide. Keep her in your thoughts, please. As I write this, my mind goes back yet again to the accident we recently had. She doesn't remember it--she has amnesia--but I cannot forget listening to her screams of fear and pain. I feel so much guilt for that, and now, this. I guess I need some prayers for peace of mind and perspective. Thank you, Dave

I totaled out my RSV a couple of weeks ago. The insurance company is paying 100% on accessories. They want to know the brand name of my aftermarket windshield, but it was already on the bike when I bought it used. Can anyone tell me, from my profile pic, what company might have made it? It has an unusual green tint. I can email additional pics, if there are any windshield experts that could help. Thanks. 5 broken ribs and a fractured pelvis. But, I'm up and about. Just a little tender. Probably go back to work after next week. My wife won't let me have another bike, so I'm planning a wake. Reasoning is...a motorcyclist without a bike is just a zombie life. Pretty much over, until they put me in a hole. My wake will be much nicer, with me in attendance to welcome condolences. Also...Did the light bar come stock on this bike, or was that an accessory?

I know there are some truck drivers in our group and maybe some people that have been in my situation. Incident: Traveling south on I-77 in SC. Truck blow a tire on his truck not trailer. The tire was moving and I couldn't avoid from hitting it without hit other cars. Truck pulled over. SCHP showed up and did an incident report, but reported that I struck the tire in roadway so it sounds like it was just sitting there. Got back home called my insurance company they filed against the trucks insurance company. I got the adjusters contact info and contacted him. His response (truck drivers Ins Adjuster): We got the truck drivers records stating the tires was fairly new with only 2000 miles on it and his records that he checks his tires regularly. So we believe it was a faulty tire and it is not our liability. We will trace down the truck company that did the onside repair and see if they have the tire and you (me) can file a claim against Goodyear. My response: It is not my responsibility to file against goodyear that would be yours (truck ins) if you believe the tire is faulty. That they should pay for my claim and repair my motorcycle. Then they file against Goodyear to get their money back. What is everyone's thoughts and or experience with this?

Does getting a bunch of recorded messages bug you when you call a company for info? I stumbled across the website yesterday and ive tried a couple of the numbers and ideas and it seems to be right. The idea is that they have found some number combinations that a person can enter that will bypass all the machines when you call a company and compiled it into a list. Evidently most companies have these backdoors so the staff can dial in a hurry and bypass the stuff the rest of us have to go through to get to talk to a real person. Try this, http://www.get2human.com/ Brian

I turn 65 next month, and my current medical insurance policy terminates when I become medicare eligible on the first day of December (the month of my birthday). What a complicated lawyer and accountant sucking system this is. With the govt paying a significant part of my hospitalization and subsidizing out patient type care, my personal insurance costs are more than tripling from November to December. And there are plans, and parts, and copays, and deductibles and exceptions out the wazoo. I've spent a couple weeks trying to make sense of it all and have decided a lot of it will never make sense. Prices from one insurance company to the next vary a lot of $$$ I've had medical with the same HMO for 35 years, but my zipcode isn't in the table they gave to social security as being in their coverage area, never mind that they have a doctors office and major hospital only 20 minutes from my house. So after going round and round with them, the HMO will file an exception (of some kind) on my behalf so I can stay with them. I have to move into their Medicare Advantage HMO Plan at age 65 I did come real close to jumping ship and getting a medicare plan F supplement policy from an insurance company, it would be slightly more costly, but a bit more flexible than my HMO. But after 35 years with the same plan, I'd prefer to stay pat. And my HMO has their own pharmacy, so I wouldn't need a Medicare Plan D for pharmacy insurance. Dental insurance at age 65 goes up 50% even staying with the same company (nothing to do with medicare). My advice to those age 64, is start to read everything you can about the system instead of waiting until the last month like I did. and. try not to take this thread too political.

if you know some one with this year and make please tell them dont want anyone getting hurt no matter what they ride. DETROIT (AP) - Harley-Davidson Inc. is recalling about 308,000 motorcycles to fix a switch problem that can cause failure of the brake lights and possibly even the rear brakes themselves. The company said in documents filed last week with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that brake light switches can be exposed to too much heat from the exhaust system. The heat can cause the brake lights to fail, and the problem also can cause fluid leaks and the loss of rear brakes, the documents said. The problem affects Touring, CVO Touring and Trike motorcycles from the 2009 through 2012 model years. They were built between June 6, 2008 and Sept. 16, 2011. Harley says it will notify owners of the recall. Dealers will install a rear brake light switch kit free of charge. The recall affects about 251,000 motorcycles in the U.S. alone, with the balance in other countries. Harley said it noticed the problem in June of 2010 when it got a report of a Trike model motorcycle that lost its rear brakes due to the problem. The company began investigating, and in July of 2010, it sent investigators to a dealership in Louisiana to inspect another bike that was involved in a crash. Harley has not determined yet if the problem caused the Louisiana crash, which injured one person, company spokeswoman Maripat Blankenheim said Monday. She did not know how seriously the person was hurt, but said Harley is not aware of any other crashes or injuries. Harley said in the documents that there have been no more reports of the problem occurring since July of 2010. The company also said in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that it expects the recall to cost $10 million to $12 million, which will be charged as an expense in the fourth quarter. Shares of Harley-Davidson rose $1.22, or 3.2 percent, to $38.82 in afternoon trading Monday. Copyright 2011 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
