I have owned 3 different Yamaha Motorcycles the last 15 years. Since 2007 I have been riding a 2006 RSV. I love the bike and have put 34,000 miles on the bike. I had been taking my motorcycle to the same dealer in Columbus for 14 years. I had always received more than adequate service even though the prices were a little high. Last summer the service department went through a change and the quality went straight downhill. My bike was in the shop 4 straight weeks last summer because they cracked a tab on my fairing, forgot to order a few parts, and for the most part were about as rude to me as anyone has ever been. I had been in contact with Yamaha customer relations and they recommended I take my bike to the Iron Pony for regular maintenance. I dropped my bike off there last week to have the steering head bearing looked at, valve adjustment, carb sync, oil change, and overall inspection. This has been by far the best service experience I have had to date! Their prices are ½ of what I was paying, they are professional, polite, and very knowledgeable. Chris, the assistant service manager, was able to replace my steering head bearing under factory warranty. I was very appreciative of this as my warranty expires in 4 weeks. I strongly recommend this service department and look forward to them keeping my bike running well and safe!

Columbus, GA in January I'm trailering my 2004 white Venture to Columbus, GA in January. I'll need it serviced. Can anyone recommend a shop? I read some threads on roads to ride and ask for all the ideas you got of places to see and ride. Just a heads up for anyone riding around Columbus, Ohio at anytime. Yamaha of Columbus is now located in the same building as Iron Pony Motorsports in the north end of town. They are just north of 161 on Westerville Road just about 15 or 20 minutes from where I live. I stopped by Sunday while I was out riding and Iron Pony is adding new stuff all the time and the East end of the building is now the Yamaha dealer and their shop. Yamaha of Columbus has had several locations in the past few years. My hope is that under new ownership, they will stay put for awhile. As usual I have no connections whatsoever with either of these places. I just like to pass on info when i think my Venturerider family would like it. www.ironpony.com www.yamahaofcolumbus.com

Planning a road trip from OKC to see my folks in Florida, fathers in a nursing home now, going to help mother. Mom wants me to cleanout the garage and take everything with me so I'll be driving the truck. Mapquest wants to route me a way I'm unfamilar with. Can someone tell me how the road is on Rt.280 between Birmingham, Al. & Columbus, Ga.? Then from Columbus, Ga. - Albany - Tifton? What is the speed limits on these roads? Do you have to slow down thru ever town? If I were riding a bike it would be my highway of choice but time is short.
