The wife and I just got back from 5 days in Colorado Springs - - what a fabulous part of the country. Unfortunately, we were saddened to witness the start of what is now a totally out of control wildfire just west of the city in an area called Waldo Canyon. We just got to the top of Pikes Peak on Saturday morning via the Cog Railway when the fire broke out, and it spread like crazy in just one hour. See the pics to see what I mean. Right after we got down to the bottom, they were closing just about everything in the entire area, including the Garden of the Gods which we really wanted to see. I definitely want to go back someday on the bikes, but when it's a little cooler - - it was 97 to 103 while we were there, and virtually no humidity and 30+ mph winds. the perfect storm for wildfires.

I am confused about all the news of GM and Chrysler closing dealerships! I don't pretend to know anything about the workings of auto dealerships, but how does closing them make the auto makers more profitable? Basic economics tells me that having an outlet for your product is necessary. Seems like VOODOO economics to me.

LA = Louisianna SNOW. I am at work south of Lafayette LA and there was an inch of snow on the steps at 0500 this morining. Folks down here do not know how to act. They are closing I49 and the radio is reporting 18 wheelers in the ditch and cars spining off the road. Schools are closing... What a mess. The sun better come out pretty quick or somebody is gonna get hurt. They would totally shut down the world if they got a real snow that would stick on the roads for a while.

I just thought I would post a friendly reminder to all of our friends in GA, AL, SC, NC, TN, KY, etc., that the Wheels Through Time M&E is coming up fast this Saturday! If you have never been to this great museum, it might very well be your last chance to visit, since they are closing at the end of this month and are strongly considering a move out of the Maggie Valley area, possibly to AZ. Details are in this Forum thread: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=29193 I hope you can find a way to make it, as this will prove to be a rare treat... Terry

I notice a thread, political statement actually, which was , I guess, closed without comment by the moderator. I do believe that closing it was the right thing to do but leaving it this way allows for a political statement!!! It should have been deleted altogether!!! If this isn't done, provocations of all sorts may be posted for viewing without fear of repudiation, where is the fairness in that??!!

Just thought id provide a link for a young group for riders over 30 called Over The Hill. Seems things are a bit slow over there and they are considering closing down the forum. Give them the once over....... http://forums.delphiforums.com/Overhill/start

Lately I've had a little trouble closing the lid on my trunk on my 07 Venture. This morning it was really difficult. Doesn't seem to want to latch. It was dark when I rode to work so I couldn't tell what was going on. I know nothing was between the hook and the latch. I'd appriciate any suggestions. TIA, Eddie:confused24:

We (the better looking half) and I are closing on our new house in Harrington DE tomorrow. Our house hold things won’t be delivered until next Tuesday but at least we will have a permanent address and we can get out of this cracker box we have been in now for almost a month. It will be great to have more then two rooms to move around in. And the dog will be able to go out without a leash and one of us with her. We will also have cable so I will be able to surf the internet a bit faster then a 1st. Gen and an email address. I will have to update me profile so I can receive emails and I look forward to meeting some of you in this area. I should be free and able to go on rides in a week or two. Memorial Day holiday coming up and I will probable be cleaning up the house and yard instead of riding but if anyone is going on a ride let me know by responding to this post and maybe I will be able to talk the wife into letting me out on parole for a day. Can’t wait…

Please don't forget to check out the VentureRider IV - West Coast Rally Poll going on under VR Polls. We're going to be closing that poll here shortly, and want to make sure everyone has had a chance to be heard. Thanks.
