  1. Had chaps made by them, to protect my bad legs from the heat of the day. Only got mesh on the backs. Now I have the Harley I'm feeling bike heat bad on the back of my right thigh...due to it being stiff, and the angle straight down. Contacted Lorna to purchase some heat shield fabric....won't let me pay! She is going to hem it for me AND mail it to utadventure's address -- at her cost :clap2::clap2: Nice folks:sign yeah that:
  2. I just received a pair of fleeced lined Cordura Nylon chaps from www.coloradochaps.com and I am impressed. The chaps are custom made from your measurements, thigh and inseam. Instead of a typical belt they have a velcro strap that loops over your existing belt. I guess they assume you'll be wearing one. While it is not frigid here right now I did take a short ride with them on and they are very "toasty". They are easy to put on. Just put your foot and leg through the top and pull the zipper to your ankle. I've never cared for leather chaps and they always seemed too hard to get on. And with my short legs I could never find leather that fit right. I thought I would take a chance on these and I'm glad I did. Lori at coloradochaps.com is very good to work with. If you're cold, give them a try. Dennis
  3. My 16 YOA son, Dan, passed his MSF Course this past weekend. He scored 96% on the written and only had one minor mistake on the driving course. He has been driving around town on the little Honda we found. This is going to be great, another rider to DQ! I had a stragne occurance a couple of weeks ago. I rode to the bank to make a deposit for work and a fellow followed me into the parking lot. He approached me and said the he used to ride a Goldwing until he wrecked a couple of years ago. He said that he had some riding gear he would like to sell. Doreen and I went to his house and discovered that he and his wife had two leather jackets, a women's textile jacket (with back, elbow, and shoulder removable padding), womens nylon wind chaps and a pair of men's leather chaps. The bigger leather jacket was too small for me and too large for either Doreen or Dan. The smaller leather jacket fits Dan great. We purchased the the nylon chaps, textile jacket, leather chaps (for me) and the coat for Dan. They were happy to get them to someone who will use them and we were happy to get all this for just $200.00! I know the textile jacket is that much alone when new. Sometimes it is nice that things work out. Usually, for me, I step in the cow pie, this time I was able to step over it. Dave
  4. I listed an Eclipse Vest and Chaps in the riding apparel section. The chaps have never been used and one controller is included. These item's are from a friend that has quit cold weather riding.
  5. Hope I can get some advice/recommendations on getting high quality chaps for this upcoming season. Prefer leather over kevlar or textile from a safety standpoint. Suggestions? Thanks
  6. Just wanted to let everyone know about a really good set of chaps, well at least I think so. Over the Christmas Holidays I ordered a set of chaps from http://www.coloradochaps.com/motorcycle_chaps.html I ordered the Heavy Duty 1000 denier cordura nylon with fleece lining and the knee/shin pads. I was waiting for a cold day to test them and get a good idea of what they feel like. First and foremost I really like these chaps. It was 33 when I left my house and 30 when I got to work and today was the first day I rode with the knee pads in. I can say that it was the first day of riding in weather below 40 that my knees didn't hurt, in fact when I took them off my knees and shins were actually very warm to the touch. Another plus for me was that they loop over your belt so you don't have another belt around your waist digging into your back. They ride higher on your legs covering more of your upper thigh and they don't weigh you down. They are very light about 1/4 the weight of comparable leather chaps. Last year I didn't wear chaps below 45 degrees, I wore a snowmobile suite to keep warm, today the chaps kept me warm. BTW it's a 50 mile ride to work so there was plenty of time to get cold. I highly recommend these chaps even though they are a bit pricey. I intend to get a pair of the light weight ones for summer. Gonna pack my old heavy leather chaps away for good. Oh yeah they are custom made for you, just send them your thigh size and inseam and they will get them out to you. They had mine in the mail in 3 days.

    Chaps

I was looking for a pair of Chaps, but these do not have a belt. They have a loop that goes around your belt and may be called Leggings. Saw them for 200 bucks today and was thinking I could get them a little cheaper. Any suggestions where to find a pair ? Thanks Brad
  8. Hey folks, I'm the Safety Manager here where I work. We are a foundry, and I buy Kevlar coats and chaps for the guys to prevent burns. The supplier sent us some chaps that were too long so I had to cut a foot off of them to make them fit. I was thinking that this material would work great for someone to make a pair of draggin' jeans if they were skilled with a sewing machine. The material is Carbon/Kevlar and is 12"x26". Should be enough to cover the seat and knees of a pair of jeans. If you want it, I'll be happy to send it to you free of charge. Figured it beats throwing it away. 9. Took some early Christmas $ and got some Leather overpants off ebay. Got to try them out today and really like them. They are made just like jeans with pockets. They have zippers all the way to the hip like chaps and the snaps at the bottom. They are lined with the nylon mesh. They were warm and provided more warmth in particular areas:whistling:better than chaps. Figure this summer I can wear shorts under them too. If anybody is interested in the ebay seller send me a PM. Jay

  11. Stopped by the dealership and saw something that impressed me enough to pass on the info here. Heated vest, chaps and gloves. I tried them on and they will get the job done. Vest and chaps are water proof and some sort of nylon type material. Gloves are leather with fur inside and very comfortable. All three items have individual controls and can be used as a single item or interconnected to each other so that only one plug need to be attached to the battery. Very cool. Prices: Gloves, $139.00, Vest $129.00 and chaps were $149.00. For the women in the crowd who are always cold, put them in a Joe Rocket for First Gear outfit along with these heated goodies and they will be having a heat stroke in the dead of winter.
