My oldest son, Jared and his wife Crystal got married this weekend. They had an outdoor ceremony at the lake. It's been a wonderful, but busy weekend. Here are a few pics...

I know that we have many active and retired military personnel on this site and I thought that this might be a piece of history that may intereset you. Ian http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=vcnH_kF1zXc&feature=player_embedded This is the official film made of the surrender ceremony of the Japanese to McArthur in Tokyo Bay Sept 1945, with the actual voice of the General. Apparently this has never been shown to the general public before.

This is truly a video which should be retained for posterity so that our children, grandchildren, and Great grandchildren can be witness to and appreciate one of the most solemn and meaningful ceremonial gatherings in the annals of world history (the Civil War surrender ceremony notwithstanding) especially in the event that true history ceases to be taught in our schools. This is an actual film made of the surrender ceremony of the Japanese to MacArthur in Tokyo Bay in September 1945. Actual voice of the General. Never been shown to the general public before. We always saw the "stills" but never the film itself. The quality of the film is outstanding. http://enka2.netorage.com:9711/harddisk/user/lyk36/mumess/376-macarthurjap.htm http://enka2.netorage.com:9711/harddisk/user/lyk36/mumess/376-macarthurjap.htm

After getting back to the LaQuinta Inn in Shreveport, Pick and Redbeard went for a swim. On the way back into the hotel, we noticed the gazebo decorated for a wedding. Well, after Pick had proposed to Redbeard earlier at Wild Hair's shindig, it seemed only natural to go ahead and have a ceremony there! Sleeperhawk officiated the ceremony with Pick's Bible. I was the only witness to this tearful ceremony between two friends. The wedding brought tears to my eyes! The couple are now residing in the great state of Georgia! Armagedon!

:bawling:During a heartwrenching and suspenseful ceremony conducted in the tranquil setting at the KOA campground Saturday morning, Sledgehammer officially became crowned "Bad Biker Dude" by Riderduke with a Hot Red Pepper Doo Rag!!! Sledgehammer was speechless throughout the entire ceremony attended by the Venture Rally Family. After the ceremony, a tribute ride was led by Sleeperhawk followed by several members of the Venture Rider Family to Cherokee, North Carolina. (That's Tim up front - everyone else is going the wrong way!) The group had to indoctrinate Sledeghammer with the meaning of the Blueridge Parkway Sign by means of riding through heavy slow tourist traffic on the Parkway. The ride was highlighted with a downtown parade through Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The group was to pull over according to the City of Gatlinburg Police Department due to the overwhelming response to the parade of the Venture bikers downtown. Sledgehammer was overcome with emotion and had to be consoled. But as you can see by the final picture, Sledgehammer has emerged into his new role effortlessly! Congratulations, Sledgehammer! Your loving family friends!

So - Tom was teasing everyone a while back about a secret. Maggie (MochaLady) and I are going to pick up our wedding rings this morning! We are getting married next Saturday. My daughter Julia is going to be the best woman. Maggie's friend is going to be the man of honor. Figured to start of non-conventional A small ceremony and no reception as of yet. We are going to save that for later in the summer. Right now we are very busy with work, her new job, and daughter turned 18 and graduated. We are having the ceremony at Fort Sam in the Dodd Field Chapel. Kinda funny as she is working 3rd shift on Friday and then has to come home and get ready for a 10 Am. wedding. I guess next comes the dog, cat, and the rocking chairs! We are even looking to buy a place with a bit of land down near Big Shell in Floresville. How dog-gone domestic is that. Just no more kids and no minivan. JB
