Found a good size and long crack in my basement cement floor. It's about 1/8 inch wide and 5 feet long. Could be longer when I get to the other side of the wall and replace that carpet also. I plan on using fix-all to fill inthe gap. My questions is, is there something better to fill in the crack or does it even matter. Also I plan on putting DryLok (Home Depot - Masonry WaterProofer) on the cement floor before laying new wood floor and carpet. Is this a good Idea. My wife believes that mold is a health issue that our medical world has not done much research and really is ignoring this issue. There is paint residue from the initial buildng process on the cement floor, but not much. Or will such a waterproofing cause more of a mildue and mold issue. I was thinking that maybe it is better to allow the cement floor to breath. Thanks for your opinion. PS I do not have a water problem in the basement for I'm on a gently sloping piece of property.

Anybody know how much of a drop I need for water to drain properly on a cement porch. Right now I'm looking at 4" over a 12 foot span. Haven't poured yet, just framing it

The cement is poured. 63 bags at 60lbs per bag plus water = 2 tons (4000lbs) of cement poured. Now all of our fence posts are set and are ready for cross bars and dog ears. ... Next weekend. Beer time!!! And time for food! The ribs are on the grill and the smoke is pouring out. BBQ pork ribs are a cookin.

Not sure if this has happened before to anyone else but I thought I let you know what happened and how I managed to fix it. I noticed in my trunk lid that one of the metal clasps that goes into the lock/latch was flopping around. Looking closer, I saw the ABS plastic the metal is attached to was broke off and just hanging by a thread of plastic. Went to the dealer to see if it was covered by the warranty and he said he would call it in and see and order one for me IF it was, $318 for just the lid. Well, a google search for repairing ABS said to go to Lowe's or Home Depot to get some ABS cement made by Oteay(sp). It is similar to the PVC cement but formulated for ABS and it even comes in black..... Only took 30 seconds for it to bond and I left go of it.... seems to be as strong as the other one after 15 minutes...... Guess I'll see tomorrow when I close the lid for the first time after the repair. Cliff

Greetings, I'm new to the site but a long time rider. While in Indiana I acquired a well worn 84 Gen 1 VR. Early in it's life it was obviously owned by a very consciences owner as it has some of the updates already done (i.e. zerk fittings in the rear linkage, etc). It had obviously fallen on both sides several times over it's live and had multiple cracks in the plastic. I had read several years ago of people using ABS cement to repair the cracks so I figured I'd give it try. To my surprise it works REALLY well! Just spread the crack, dab a little of the cement in the crack and hold the crack together till it dries. You an also use this stuff to create new mounting tabs if they get broken. If any one is interested I'll post pictures later. Hope this helps someone... Bill

When I got the 90 Venture there were a couple of holes in the seat. I used black vinyl and vinyl cement to repair the holes. The vinyl and cement are actually tarp repair items. Most places that repair tarps for big rigs should have it. The adhesive works like contact cement. You clean both pieces with alcohol, then put the adhesive on both parts and let tack over. Once it tacks over just put in place and push together and it is done. If you have a seperated tear you can stitch it together to hold and glue a patch over that. I have included a couple of pictures. If anyone can't find the materials locally they can pm me as we use this stuff at work.
