Finally finished getting everything together after doing a variety of maintenance jobs on Red. Backed it out of the Mancave and it wouldn't go forward. Felt like I had an emergency brake on. Knew this wasn't right, so I had my boys push me back into the cave and did a little troubleshooting. Quickly realized that the drive shaft was not properly engaged with the U-Joint. It was laying next to the U-joint rather than in it. Quickly took all the rear end stuff off so I could unmount and remount the pumpkin. This time I got it in there properly. Put it back together, pushed it out of the cave, threw on the helmet (new Aria - maiden voyage for that too), and took off. First stop was the neighborhood gas station to fill up with fresh gas. Next was to hit the highway and let Red stretch its legs. And stretch it did. WOW! She now has more performance than I have ever felt. One of the carb boots was not seated properly when I took it apart. I assume it had been like that since I bought it with 9000 mile on her. There are now 75000 miles. It felt different decelerating also. No popping, banging, or smell of gas. Looking forward to seeing how my gas mileage has changed. It really was wonderful getting some wind in my face - if only for about 15 miles. RR

The better 1/2 and I decided to take our summer ride in the Black Hills this year during last week in June. We wanted to spend a few days in the Hills, riding around and checking out the countryside. Any info on "must-see" places, (besides the big heads, of course), roads to ride, spots for the best scenic vistas, quiet motels (or motels to avoid), tourist traps to avoid, etc. etc. would be appreciated. We were looking at going to Wind Cave and Jewel Cave - are they worth seeing? On the way back to WI, we are thinking of going thru ND - is there anything in ND...................anywhere................worth seeing? :-) Thanks

The Dragon Cave is becoming a regular stopover for VR members. Ken Derret aka 1-Up is on his way to Indianapolis to his cousins house, who just so happens to be married to my cousin, (small world isnt it), and stopped here for a visit and an overnite stop. His new trike is awesome and Ken really loves it. We sat and talked for a while, but alas I had to retire and leave Charlene and him talking in the livingroom. Its great having members stop by and visit and the door is always open and if there is an empty bed, which there always is, any VR member is welcome to spend the nite or two. Wont see Ken before he leaves as I have to be to work at 0600, but it was great seeing him and being able to visit.
