Just wanted to brag on my wife a little bit if you folks don't mind. June 18th was my b-day and we had to skip it as I was stuck at the hospital when my mom fell. June 13 th was moms and we also had to skip it because mom was sick and close to the hospital then. We were supposed to take mom to the beach (Carolina Beach) in North carolina this weekend but alas that has to be skipped also because again mom is hurting from a fall and is in a rehab/nursing home. Well here comes the bragging part. Today was her b-day and what does she do. She decides to take the day off and drive her bike round trip to Carolina Beach and get doughnuts from a place called Britts doughnuts. If you ever find your place at Carolina Beach do your self a favor and eat 2 or a dozen or so. This is an 8 hr minimum round trip and she did it with a friend in one day just to surprise me and my mom. All this again on her b-day. Now I know it was also a lot to do with the ride and being able to be free of all problems for a day , but for me I think shes the best. It made my moms day to be able to eat one of these doughnuts because that was the biggest reason mom wanted to go to the beach. Ok thanks for reading and have a great day. David

i know this was my first year of doing the nc meet and eats and hope that next year will be a lot better. i will be working on looking at the calander and trying my best not to have them on holiday weekends.think i will try to keep about the same destanations as this year.i try having them where more members can make them and maybe have them close enough to draw some from sc,tn and some ga folks, of course all are welcome.thoght about even playing around the thought of having a ride and stay over at a motel and than finishing up with it sat,dont know yet.

We are heading out at 4am for Jacksonville, Fl. We'll probably be there until sometime Monday morning, then head home. Not sure which way we're gonna come home yet. Might get froggy, and come home thru North Carolina and East Tenn. That is, if we don't get choked out from all the smoke in Jax, from all the wildfires.

My truck clutch is going out its going to be about 25 to 27 degrees out in the morning found parcka pants to wear from when I was in the Air Force in the 80's, bright carolina blue mittins from I don't know where and my leather jacket. Lets see what happens.

Well added another light to the back of the trailer, made a toolbox, & cooler holder for the front. And got everything all shiny clean. Were almost packed and we're heading out in the morning. Headed to North carolina for a week and half. Visiting daughter and camp a few days on the outer banks. Don't know how many seen this on internet, but is the worst to best states issueing speeding tickets especially out of state, very close over limit, etc. Some admit they have to help state income and especially eliminate warnings. I know the rules on Politics but this relates to Motorcycles!! The General Assembly of North Carolina has a bill in the works and it looks like it made to the first reading!!! [House Bill 920, Motorcycles-No Passengers Under Age 16] I don't live in North Carolina, but I have been transporting My son (now age 12) for the last 4 years on the back of our 650 V-Star & as of last year the Royal Star Venture to get him to karate class and to school events and anything else. As soon as he could reach the foot pegs he started riding with me. I like to know just what they plan on doing when someone from out state comes into North Carolina with their kid on the back of a motorcycle? Are they going to make them detour all the way around the state and what if my destination is inside the state? I have the Constitutional Right to Travel and what is legal for me to do in my home state go's with me as I go over state lines.

Just drove from Pennsylvania to Conway, South Carolina to help my daughter. She was involved in an accident on 501, near Coastal Carolina University where she attends school. Met with her as she was leaving the hospital with a broken hand, bruising, and light air bag burns. She is very lucky! The car on the other hand is totaled. I will be meeting with the insurance adjuster sometime Monday, hopefully early in the morning. Any forum members in S.C. know a good ,honest, dealer for a used car in the nearby area? Regards Dave

I am thinking about going to Grandfather Mountain this weekend. I heard on the news that there is a gas shortage and alot of places are out of gas. Can anyone in North Carolina tell me if you are having a gas shortage and if not what the price of gas is there. Thanks P.S. This is for 1Rooster. If I decide to ride down I'll try to let you know.

Hey guys, 5 of my buddies on their Harley's and Wings and me on my RSV are going to Raleigh NC tomorrow. Saturday morning we're going to Carolina Beach and hopefully eat some good fish for lunch. South Carolina has joined six other states that let motorcyclists, mo-ped drivers and bicyclists run red lights that don't change within a couple minutes of their stopping. Gov. Mark Sanford signed the bill into law Tuesday. It requires motorcyclists, mo-peds and bicycles to stop for two minutes before entering an intersection if a traffic signal has not turned green. Motorcyclists pushed the legislation because they said automatic signal controls using sensor embedded in roads don't always detect their bikes. The American Motorcyclist Association says Arkansas, Idaho, Minnesota, North Carolina, Tennessee and Wisconsin have similar laws.

Do we have anyone living in or familiar with Charlotte, NC? We have a friend (My best friend's widow) who is planning to relocate to warmer climes and is looking at a development called "Sun City Carolina Lakes" which is just across the border in SC. If anyone knows the area, what are its good points and bad points if any. I know that is a pretty broad question but, have at it anyway. Anything you know about the area will be good information since we know nothing about it. Thanks folks. _________________

We had a great turn out for todays meet I counted 35 that showed up.The weather was surprisingly agreable.We had a high temp of 68 there was a little drizzle.But overall it was real nice.
