http://news.consumerreports.org/cars/2012/04/brake-failure-spurs-recall-of-3000-can-am-spyder-bikes.html Consumer Reports Apr 16, 2012 11:30 AM Bombardier Recreational Products has recalled certain 2010 Can-Am Spyder models due to the potential for a complete brake failure. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 3,259 Can-Am Spyder RT roadsters from model year 2010 are recalled because a pin securing the brake pedal connecting rod could come loose and fall off without warning. BRP will notify owners this week and dealers will replace the brake pedal connecting rod free of charge. Owners may contact BRP at 1-888-638-5397 When we sampled the Can-Am Spyder, we found it bulky and reluctant to corner. Several of our riders felt they much prefer bikes with two wheels. However, the Can-Am Spyder does have antilock brakes, which is an important safety feature. See which other motorcycles and scooters have this life-saving technology.

:173:Anyone see the new trailer for the can-am spyder??? awesome looking piece, tons of volume, cool design and nice suspension, but $3,999 sounds a little hi. if they drop the price about $800 i'll be the first in line. the silver even matches the 2005 liquid silver.

At the GiantSideRally in Lubbock, I took a demo ride on the Can-Am Spyder. For the Darksiders: These have a car tire on the back...does that count???? I rode one of these Can-Am Spyders yesterday...yes thats me in the blue shirt..we were on an escorted demo ride around the lake perimeter...lasted about 15 minutes. You had a choice of riding a standard 5 speed or a 5 speed automatic. I rode the auto. You push a left thumb button to upshift, and downshifts are fully automatic..they do also have a reverse. It was sure different!! My overall impression is that for a motorcycle rider, its not all that!....but...for someone who cant (or wont) ride a 2 wheel bike, this might be kinda fun. They are quick, and they sure do turn heads! http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/tx2sturgis/can-am/IMG_2680.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/tx2sturgis/can-am/IMG_2681.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/tx2sturgis/can-am/IMG_2682.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/tx2sturgis/can-am/IMG_2685.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h113/tx2sturgis/can-am/IMG_2686.jpg

Last weekend here in Columbus, OH, one of the local bike dealers had 2 of these Can-Am Spyders available for you to test ride. I case your not sure what these things are, they are 3-wheeled "bikes" with two in the front and one in the rear. Powered by a 990 cc Rotax engine, 6-speed, power steering. We were allowed to ride them for around 20 minutes and got up to around 80 mph. They cost around 15K and let me tell you, after riding that thing, I couldn't wipe the smile of my face and if I had 15K at that moment I would have bought one. It took me back to being young and one of those first times riding a motorcycle. I think I'll wait for some other companies to start building them and get the price down, but I will buy one. If your dealer has Can-Am around to test drive these things, DO IT! spyder.brp.com
