Got a busted 87 that I am gonna turn into a chopper. What will it take to have the bike run well with no airbox at all? The mods to the frame are not going to allow for the airbox to be used.

Back on Aug 31st, someone ran into me from a glancing head on collision while I was sitting at a traffic light waiting on it to turn green. The other party was clearly at fault and they were cited for wreckless driving. I am letting my insurance company fix/total my bike and they will go after the other party's insurance to get their maney back. It tore up my 08 Venture pretty badly: entire front end,,,fairing busted, forks bent, handle bars, rear view mirror, wind screen busted, passing lights and blinkers busted. And everything down the right side of the bike....floorboards, fairing around the radiator, front and rear crash bar, saddle bag and the right side of the trunk suffered road rash. After talking to the Geico adjuster, he said the repair bill has to be around 90% of the value of the bike. I don't want the bike back and I want it totaled but 90% seems crazy. The repair shop hasn't finished the quote but I think 90% seems high. If they won't total it, how can I fight back?

Hmm I can JUST hear the puns now.. Bummer, whilst installing my seat, one of the bolts (studs) snapped off.. Impressive since I wasn't applying any torque to the wrench at all but it's busted so now the seat is attached to the bike via one single bolt / stud.. Is there a quick fix to this or what is involved in getting this repaired? Cheers

Anybody remove the inner fairing on a G2? I opened the fairing to add an air horn and found the windshield mount bar tabs were busted off the inner fairing. Also the two inner tabs (center bolts on windshield) on the outer part of the fairing were busted off and the male lug on the right side lower cowling was busted off. Wilderbeast is still under waranty (04) and I can't believe it but Yamaha is going to warant the parts. Dealer wants to charge me to hook up my air horn and passing lights (already installed), so I thought I would do the job myself. Any thoughts? Thanks, Ponch

To work on the 99. Today was a nice day temps in the low 80's with a mist rain. It made for a nice evening to work on the 99. We got the right saddle bag open and latch freed up. A little duct tape ( An old muffinman trick) patched the busted hole in the saddlebag. Split the fairing and got the driving lights repaired and fixed the audio system. WOO HOO we have tunes cb,radio, intercom and everything. The fairing has major scratches with the right side screw supports busted. A little plastic wire tie work should hold it. All thats left to do is adj the headlight beam. It's pointing at the moon. Change oil & filter, check the scoot for loose bolts, move the xm radio and gps from the 89. If all goes well we might bring this thing to vogel.
