Has anyone made an adjustable windshield similar to the Baggershield? Would it be difficult. It looks to me as if an old shield could be cut, drilled and sanded and then affixed to an existing shield with wing nuts and bushings. But then again, it might not be worth the trouble. Iowa Guy

Has anyone here removed the rubber dampeners from their rear RSV wheel? Im not talking about the fingers but the actual rubber bushings that sit in the wheel. Just got my chrome wheels back and the rubber was destroyed. Any ideas??

Are there any preferences on brands or where they come from? I was thinking of ordering seals from All Balls Racing. They appear to be superior seals. I think fork bushings are going to have to come from Yamaha. I have not found an aftermarket for them yet. Any input will be appreciated.

I'm trying to plan my upcoming winter downtime fork rebuild and though I've searched the forum, I'm not finding the info I'm looking for. The plan is to replace the seals/bushings, and go with new springs and maybe the Racetech Emulators. I see where some guys have gone with Progressive springs and others with Sonic springs. Has anyone used the Racetech springs? I know that the stock spring rate is 0.9, and that some people are using 1.20 springs from Sonic. Racetech seems to recommend their 1.0 springs. I haven't looked to see what rate the Progressive springs are yet. I like the soft ride of the stock spring but would like to stiffen the front end up just a hair for better high speed cornering, so I'm hesitant to go to the 1.20 from Sonic. I like to run 0 psi of air in the front. There looks to be a split on opinion of the Racetech Emulators. Some are saying they are great and some think that they aren't necessary. At $170 for the kit, are they really worth the money? Next, fork bushings. OEM stuff can be had for less then $20 for all of the bushings from Partshark.com. Racetech has their super slippery ultra fancy bushings that they say are must have for hi performance forks, but they want 4 times as much as the Stock bushings. Is anyone using these bushings? Last is fork oil. I feel that the factory 5 weight is too thin. I've had good results in the past with synthetic 10 weight. What is everybody running, with Emulators and without? Thanks gang

I just bought 2006 rstd with 30 day warranty.Returned to dealer because of noise coming from forks which really sounds like a broken spring to me.The suspension seems to work fine so service people say that its worn bushings which wouldnt be covered. Has anyone had this noise(almost like cracking sound) when pushing down on forks or hitting some bumps while riding?

How long should fork seals last? I thought I had them licked on my blue bike from back early in the '08 season, or perhaps it was '07. On the way home from work this evening though, I noticed that my port side fork is leaking again big time. I also changed the bushings when I last did the seals and I only used genuine Yama parts. They have both been clean as a whistle ever since, up to today. Would gators help, or do they just mask the problems? Brian H.

I read on here about greasing the four bolts in the rear shock swing arm bushings. If I pull these bolts out one at a time and grease, does everything stay in alignment for reassembling? This would be doing it while on side stand.

Hey everybody, I just removed my rear wheel to lube/inspect my new-to-me 86 Venture. I found the bushings on the suspension links completely dry and corroded. I also found the plastic inter- bushings worn out. Has anyone used anything other than the teflon bushings to re-bush the links? I can still order the teflon ones from Bike Bandit but they are $24 each {6 required}... Thanks for any help! ps I am sure these have never been lubed..... things we should check on old bikes...

Hi All. New guy from BC here but have been riding my '84 VR for 15 years and enjoy reading the posts here. Somewhere I saw one about replacing the shift linkage bushings with a generic hardware type since they don't appear to be available from Yamaha. Now that I'm replacing my stator I'd like to snug things up in the shifter as well. Anybody remember where I may have seen this or be aware of a serviceable replacement? Thanks!!

I have replaced the seals in the front forks for the last three years on my 1987 Venture standard, I went out this morning and found that the left seal had leaked again. I took it up to the mechcanic that did the work on it last year and he can't figure it out either. He said the bushings were good last year when he replaced the seals. He said he used the seals Yamaha reccomended( K&S I beleive). I am stumped any one have this type of problems , I sure could use some help.

Recently found out my fork tubes are slightly bent, from last years deer impact. So I am ordering a set of Franks Forks, as replacements $245 pair Vs $198 each from yamaha (best price found). I am changing out all the fork bushings too. Yamaha doesn't list the upper tube bushing separately from the fork tube itself & after some searching I found racetech.com does have the bushings listed.
