Co-worker had his harley parked in the company lot and the way the sun was reflecting off the mirror it burned the passenger backrest. Looks like a cigarette was laid on it and burned down to the butt. I know, should have gotten a pic but I didn't have phone on me at the time. First time I ever heard of this.

OK folks, I got a call from Dean a few days ago, username dksmith196958. His shop burned down a few weeks ago and his bike was heavily damaged. The insurance company wants to total it but doesn't want to pay him what he thinks it is worth. Basically the only damage is to all the plastic so he is looking for any parts that our members might have available. The bike is titled as an '85 but from his description, slant bags and the small trunk, I think it is probably an '84. So, if you have any parts available, please post here and I'll get the information to him. He has no phone or internet service right now as the wiring going into his home was burned and is not up and running yet. Just let me know either here or via PM what you have and the prices that you are asking for them. He also mentioned that he would consider buying a complete bike if that is what it takes.

The light bar on the trunk has a burned out turn signal and only one tail/running light that works. Last night I removed the three screws inside the trunk but the bar did not budge. If I recall correctly this light bar does require heating to release the glue to separate the lens from the base but before I break something, should the light bar come off the trunk easily with the screws removed or is it necessary to pop the lens off first?

I've got a couple of driving pet peeves----I'd like any LEOs reading to tell me exactly how the law about burned out headlight, tailight and brake light reads. You see a lot of cars driving around with burned out brake lights. Usually it's only one, but the other day I was behind a car that had both side brake lights out and one of the lamps in the center brake light also out. Only 1 bulb in the center light was on. How come they never get pulled over?? Heck, a loooooooong time ago when I was a young driver, I got stopped for a burned out license plate light. What happened??

The voltage on a 85VR dropped into the yellow 8volt area & drained the battery, replaced the rectifer/regulator worked just great for 2 weeks, now volt meter is down in the yellow zone again. Manual indicates that it may be the starter coil [where do I find the starter coil?] & have I burned out another rectifier? I enjoy wrenching, dont understand electrical :confused24::confused24:at all so walk me through slowly. Thanks in advance Stewart :canada:
