  1. I was at the Home Depot electrical dept. today and spotted these, and my first thought was they could be used as a replacement for the rubber straps that hold the side covers on the MkII Venture. It seems to be a small bungee cord with grommet, and about the perfect size for the application. -Pete, in Tacoma WA USA
  2. It is getting that time of year when we are going to start using bungee cords and I just wanted to warn everyone to be cautious. When being stretched, they can pack a wallop if they come loose. Also, it just seems natural to pull them toward you when hooking them. These things can very quickly take out an eye or cause other injury. RandyA
  3. The choke on my 84 works. The bike starts & runs ok BUT the control won't stay on choke. I have to manually hold the contol towards choke until the bike warms up. The previous owner had a tiny bungee on it, but again my neurosis can't accept the bungee there. Is there any way to fix or adjust the twist choke control?
  4. I want to remind everyone of the dangers of using bungee cords. My supervisor at work had a bungee cord come loose as he was trying to secure something and it popped him in the center of his left eye. At this point he will have to have a new lense put in to get any use out of that eye. I have also almost have this happen and it could have gotten me, but I was lucky. Year before last, Laura were coming to the campground at Vogal and she wanted some firewood to have a campfire(it did not matter that it was 80º outsire). We stopped at a little store and I bought a bundle of firewood and realized I had not pasked my good bungee cords. I went back into the store and bought some of theirs and as I was stapping the bundle of firewood on the trunk grill, one uncurled on the hook and came loose, just barely missing my face. So, I know how quickly this can happen. If you are going to use bungee cords, and they can be real handy, just make sure that if it did come loose when you are pulling on it that you are not in the line of fire. These things can pack a lot of punch. RandyA
  5. Well it's taken me a while, but I finally figures out how to get this digital camera to take reasonable pictures and resize them so I could post them on here. The first two are what it looked like while sitting in Harvey Rounce's (VR member rounce) garage before I bought it from him. The next three are of it in my storage shelter waiting for spring to get warm enough to start riding again. I still have a little more to add but its getting to be less noticable items. By the way the shelter is made by ShelterLogic in Watertown, CT. A wind about 40 - 45 mph caused the damage you see and more. The end wall is held on with light bungee cords and soft of flaps in the wind until tears out the eyelets or rips the bungee. The structure is set up where trees give it some protection from wind. They put a clause in the warranty stating they can't control the wind and thus wind damage is not covered.
