I have used them on the two VTX's I have owned and beyond the ability to remove, clean and recharge them, I didn't find any real benefit. I didn't do any testing of fuel savings due to it's insignificance. So does anyone have any real reason to use them with the exception of never having to replace them? I have found them on ebay for $65, has anyone found them cheaper? BTW I posted this in the RSTD tech form because I have an 07 RSTD, I say this because I don't know if the Venture is different.

I got this from a facebook friend. BTW, you will need one of those plastic bucket side car.

If anyone is in the Western NY area, Bongobobny and I and our wives are going out to dinner at the Hearth Restaurant on April 16th (Saturday). If you would like to attend, go to the calendar and sign up. Dinner is at 6:00 PM. The restaurant is located in Chaffee, NY on Rt 16 opposite Pioneer Motorsports (one of our sponsors who will be at Freebird's MD) BTW...do you have your order for parts and safety chrome, sent to Chad yet, so he can bring them to the MD?

I'm looking for options to add heating elements inside my 2nd gen bars so I can keep my existing Kury grips. For those cold weather riders that have them, what did you go with? BTW, they don't need to work on days like today where the temp is -17...-45 wind chill in ND!

The thing I hate about a 1st gen is the throttle , it is a long way to get to wot . with my big hands to go full throttle I have to break my wrest , anybody know if there is a shorter throw one that will work on our bikes ? BTW it Snaggaltooth fault ! He was talking about a 1/4 turn throttle on a over powered dirt bike:stickpoke:

Just did my first carb synch on my bike and I have a quick question. While taking off the rubber hose from one of the carbs I noticed it had a cut/split, does it have to be replaced or is it just a minor thing? BTW: 1st time doing it by myself = 20 minutes. Saved $250 and 8 hours because that's what the shop wants.

I scanned this in and yall can now see it for yourself. The guy who answers the tech question never mentions the 'I' basket....hmmm.... BTW the scan is from the April 2010 issue of Rider magazine.

I'm going to try to change the front tire myself on my 86VR....40 years ago I used to work part time at Sears changing tires so I'm no stranger to the process.. Has anyone used a "C" clamp to break the bead and large screwdrivers to remove the tire from the rim?..It seems easy at face value but I'd like to hear from people that have actually done it... BTW: I figured diluted liquid soap and a paint brush ought to work when replacing the tire to get the bead slippery enough to fit the tire, with a little persuasion, over the rim...

Hi y'all, I'm back on the board after a few months' absence. I got laid off and even the $12 membership was a stretch to me, but I'm happy to report that I'm working again! Did anyone miss me? (BTW, my bike is for sale and can be found in the Classified section).

I have acquired a huge amount of 14 gauge thhn wire and rather than scrap it out, if anybody is going to do some lighting or whatever on their bike I'd be happy to mail 15 or 20 foot lengths of it just for the cost of the envelope and postage. btw - what I have now is black, I just got rid of 30 lbs of red. It's all used wire but the insulation is intact

Hey Duke, now where did you say the tail light bulb was? LOL I have over 40K on my 99 and there was very little grease left. BTW, anything special about fork oil? Might as well change that while I'm here. Thanks, Spotsy

I searched and couldn't find much info on a rebuild kit. I'm still having problems with fuel coming out of the carb vent tube. I looked and it is #3 carb that is "overflowing". Any help would be appreciated. BTW, I have run a little seafoam thru, but didn't want to ride if fuel is dripping out.

Can anyone out there tell me what is the number of the bulb behind the right or tachometer section on the early first gen? It seems mine burned out and can only see half of my dash insruments at night now. I can get it when I pull it apart but would like to buy it first. BTW can that area be accessed by just removing the wind screen or do I need to remove the entire fairing? (again)

What is the reason that I can't use a 55w (H3) in my driving lights? I did wire the driving lights using a relay and fuse. It is on an 05 RSTD, nothing but lights. BTW, I've read all of the threads regarding this, seems like they mostly concern a venture. Steve

A couple of days ago Black Owl just sent me a pair of fork protectors that a member won at Ft Collins, and instructed Russ to send to me. It been a while since July and he can't remember who the member was...old age thing..., but that he thinks?? he came from Winnipeg...? Anyway I'd sure like to know who it is so I can thank him personally. Any Ideas. BTW Russ makes these things and I really like them.

All, I'm thinking about trading my 06 RSTD for a 07 RSV(blue & Black)..I'm question is does anyone feel that the RSV is "TOP HEAVY" due to the fairing? Is there a BIG diff in the handling ? Any feed back would be appciated....BTW, It's hard to get a dealer to let me test ride one here in Chicago Illinois THanks All Deacon

Summer is just around the corner and I have been giving some consideration to removing the front cowling. The only hesitation I have is what to do with the air filters. My question to all you much more intelligent wrenches is, can I remove the cowling without damage to the engine and what to do with the air intake? Can I modify this somehow? I have been unable to find any type of velocity stack or hyper charger to put in its place. Any thoughts or ideas, even if you all say it can not be done, is appreciated. BTW, I have the air defectors on the bike already. Works great when the temps are around 80 to 90. When we hit the triple digits, especially on the new asphalt roads, they don't seem as effective.
