  1. This is the place to go for breakfast in NH. http://www.parkersmaplebarn.com/ My friends and I have gathered together more than once to eat breakfast here. Many riders meet and ride to this place. You will find scooters of all types there. even some classic old rides. It is worth the trip. your tummy will thank you
  2. Happy New Year Everyone: We were side lined more in 2012 than 2011 due to the death of both of my parents, but we did manage to make Sturgis for an entire week. Really enjoyed ourselves. The highlight of the trip was the suggestion to have a VR.org breakfast meet on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at the Sturgis Highschool FFA breakfast. We got to meet at least a 1/2 dozen more VR members in person. Thanks to Patrolman46 and TX2Sturgis for suggesting and planning the event. As far as 2013 goes, our wishlist is to make Kreg's MD and the International rally in Galena IL. We may not make Sturgis this year since it is right after the Galena trip? If anyone travels this way this season be sure to let us know.
  3. yesterday was a fantastic day in mo.. so i went out for breakfast on my stratoliner. 250 miles later i made it home. great ride. i could have made it another 200 miles but i had to get home for the honey dos. guess i'm in better shape than i thought. my butt never did get sore. the strat is the most comfortable ride i ever had with no mods. no back rest and oem seat.

  9. Took a good long ride yesteday out towards Waterloo/Kitchener area. Got hungry so I stopped and had a bite to eat at a little restuarant called Lee's, on HWY 7 between Guelph and Kitchener. Both the food and service were very good. I am thinking of going out for another ride later this morning and trying them out for breakfast. If their breakfast is as good they should be on our list of places to eat in Ontario, as should the American House in waterdown were I have eatin many times in the past. The American house makes most of their food from scratch and it is good.
  10. A few pictures from our weekend at Myrtle Beach, rode over with a couple of guys who work with George! Got to see midget wrestling, walking on the beach, having cool refreshments in the evening, breakfast at Tarbaby's and dinner at Dick's Last Resort! What fun we had!!! http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/venturerider/Sleeperhawks%20Mechanic/2011/Sleeperhawks%20Mechanics%202011%20Myrtle%20Beach/#!cpZZ1QQtppZZ20
  11. Breakfast - Me, the 16 yr old son, the 9 yr old son and the 9 yr old daughter. 19 yr old son is far too cool to get up for breakfast. 16 yr old looks out the window at the bright sunny morning and asks "Can you give me a ride to school on the bike this morning?" That started a chorus of 9 yr old "Me too!" Ok. 16 yr old first. 12 km round trip. Then the daughter. 8 km round trip. Then the other son. Another 8 km. Wake the 19 yr old so he'll get himself off to work on time, stow the kiddie helmet in the rack. Grab my tank bag (laptop and stuff for work) and off to the office. 18 km 1 way. Total 46 km. I'm 22 minutes late for work, but for some reason I can't stop smiling...
  12. Jack wakes up with a huge hangover after attending his company's Christmas Party. Jack is not normally a drinker, but the drinks didn't taste like alcohol at all. He didn't even remember how he got home from the party. As bad as he was feeling, he wondered if he did something wrong. Jack had to force himself to open his eyes, and the first thing he sees is a couple of aspirins next to a glass of water on the side table. And, next to them, a single red rose!! Jack sits up and sees his clothing in front of him, all clean and pressed. He looks around the room and sees that it is in perfect order, spotlessly clean. So is the rest of the house. He takes the aspirins, cringes when he sees a huge black eye staring back at him in the bathroom mirror. Then he notices a note hanging on the corner of the mirror written in red with little hearts on it and a kiss mark from his wife in lipstick: "Honey, breakfast is on the stove, I left early to get groceries to make you your favorite dinner tonight. I love you, darling! Love, Jillian" He stumbles to the kitchen and sure enough, there is hot breakfast, steaming hot coffee and the morning newspaper. His 16 year old son is also at the table, eating. Jack asks, "Son... what happened last night?" "Well, you came home after 3 a.m., drunk and out of your mind You fell over the coffee table and broke it, and then you puked in the hallway, and got that black eye when you ran into the door." Confused, he asked his son, "So, why is everything in such perfect order and so clean? I have a rose, and breakfast is on the table waiting for me??" His son replies, "Oh THAT... Mom dragged you to the bedroom, and when she tried to take your pants off, you screamed.... "Leave me alone, I'm married!!" Broken Coffee Table $239.99 Hot Breakfast $4.20 Two Aspirins $.38 Saying the right thing, at the right time PRICELESS
  13. A little boy comes down to breakfast. Since they live on a farm, his mother asks if he had done his chores. "Not yet," said the little boy. His mother tells him no breakfast until he does his chores. Well, he's a little pissed off, so he goes to feed the chickens, and he kicks a chicken. He goes to feed the cows, and he kicks a cow. He goes to feed the pigs, and he kicks a pig. He goes back in for breakfast and his mother gives him a bowl of dry cereal. "How come I don't get any eggs and bacon? Why don't I have any milk in my cereal?" he asks? "Well," his mother says, "I saw you kick a chicken, so you don't get any eggs for a week. I saw you kick the pig, so you don't get any bacon for a week either. I saw you kick the cow so for a week you aren't getting any milk." Just then, his father comes down for breakfast and kicks the cat halfway across the kitchen. The little boy looks up at his mother with a smile, and says, "You gonna tell him or should I?"

  22. Had breakfast with the Ambasador this morning , then headed home..It was great visiting with Lowell, always great to share stories and hear of his adVentures.. any way we made it back home around 1400hrs, Janet caught a bug while we where there and has pretty much lost her voice, so needless to say, all is quiet here at the homestead.. Brad & Lonna, we ate enough for the 2 of you also, so you wouldn`t feel left out.. Lowell, we really enjoyed the visit, just wish we would have been able to stay longer... but we will catch up with you down here in our neck of the woods one of these days, take care.. Kreg and Janet
  23. I am looking at meeting Laura Sat evening over in Cleveland, Tn on her way back from Gulf Shores/Birmingham, AL. I am thinking about leaving early in the morning(before 5am) and swinging thru Vogal for a visit. As part of this, I am wondering if there will be the usual get together in Blairsville for breakfast. If so, I might try to time it to meet up there first. I would appreciate any feedback. RandyA
  24. Well, we are 52 days away from the kick off of the 2009 Pork in the Pines Pig Roast, and except for the fact that we have a lower than anticipated pre-registration, everything is moving along smoothly. We have recruited a sponsor for breakfast Sunday morning. So, that means free breakfast on site Saturday and Sunday. As only 5 people responded to the question of having biscuits and gravy on the breakfast menu, the cook made an administrative decision and we will not be having biscuits and gravy. As much as I like biscuits and gravy I can't justify the effort or the expense. Nor could I see having biscuits and gravy available and having to tell folks that they were reserved for a select few. Big Bob has registered and we look forward to seeing him after his accident last year. Still no official word from Tessa (Tequila Pete), but we are keeping the faith and hoping he will be able to make it. Am checking to see if there is some way we can get a better handle on the flys this year. Will be checking with a local farm supply to see what they recommend. If all else fails, may have to recruit a few folks with shotguns.... Just another reminder that due to miserable economic conditions we are facing this year we have done away with a set registration fee and will be simply setting out a donation jar for those that feel they can make a small donation to help offset the expenses. So, if your Labor Day week-end, September 4 through 7 is still open, and you are looking for an economical way to meet old friends, make new ones, get some of the best food around, and are in the mood for a lot of laughs, check out www.porkinthepines.com and come join us for the 4th anual Pork in the Pines. You won't be disappointed, I guarantee it.
  25. Hopefully by now most members are aware that Minnesota will be once again hosting the Pork in the Pines Pig Roast over the 2009 Labor day week end (visit www.porkinthepines.com) The guest of honor has been invited, and I am currently working on some of the other mundane issues. One of those issues involves the menu for the free breakfast on Saturday morning. In another thread, Sarges46 mentioned that he "loved" biscuits. This got me to thinking. (I know... really dangerous.) Anyway, I was thinking, would it be possible to include biscuits and gavy on the menu. Would take a bit more work and require that I get up really early, but if enough folks were interested, I think we could do it. So, the question is... How many folks planning on being at the Pork in the Pines breakfast would like to have biscuits and gravy? Right now, breakfast will include Eggs cooked to order (as long as you order scrambled) Sausages Hot cakes (or pancakes) Fried taters Toast Coffee Remember, this years PIP is free for all attendees (A donation jar will be set up for those that would like to make a donation to help is cover the costs). As always, there will be plenty of free camping space... (B ut the choice sites are going quick) For that you will get: Chili social meet and greet Friday night Breakfast Saturday morning Rosted hog with all the fixins Saturday night Free cigars (Thanks to Juggler) at the bonfire Saturday night Breakfast Sunday morning (if I can get a sponsor) Pulled Pork Sandwiches Sunday evening We will also be doing a bike service workshop and Brandi (Crows Nest) has graciously volunteered her bike for a pipe tuning... So, let me know about the biscuits and gravy as the cook (who can get really obnoxious if he is caught short) will need some additional time to up the biscuits.... Thanks to all who have registered to date, and if you're considering coming up this year and have not registered, please do so now to give us a handle on how many to expect. Again, registration can be done at www.porkinthepines.com Or just give us a heads up here. Black owl
