Hey everyone, great forum as always. This is a cool place. Tomorrow I'm finally leaving for my 5th Annual Ben Kilik Memorial Ride. I'm going to do 30 of these total. Anyway, it's a killer journey every year spanning at least 2 weeks. I have a link to my friends website that has a rough outline of the route. It would be great to see any and all of you anywhere along the way. http://www.paulstocum.com I write an extensive blog about it which I as yet haven't started. I've been bowled over by the extent of ripping the bike and trailer to pieces to paint, repair, maintain, upgrade etc. Man what a job! So I wanted to publicly thank everybody for their awesome advice. I delinked the brakes. R1 calipers, ditched antidives (thanks Skydoc!), stainless lines, Vmax rotors, EBC rear rotor, HH pads, Dunlop E3's, final dirve off 09' with 10k (gorgeous), windshield, upgraded driving lights (w/parade mode, my personal favorite!) new trailer tires and completely disassembled and painted black. The bike rides great. Hate the progs but maybe they'll mellow. Stops like mother! I swear I could lock up both wheels and send myself hurling. Dunlops totally rock. I'll put a link up to my extensive blog (not nearly as good as Jack Reipe but I can dream!) for anyone that's interested and if anybody wants to tag along it'd be great to see you! We tend to camp 2/3 of the time. Give a text or call. Thanks for all the invaluable advice. I'd be totally screwed otherwise! Cheers, John K

Guys- I know some of you may have interest in this. I NEVER intended to ride in snow...but we got stuck in a once per 20 year phenomena. We had an inch on our tent at 9AM. Don's battery failed- we had to charge it, but the Texas State Park let us use their charger, and by 3 we were on the road. The pavement was freezing, but by days end the snow stopped. We had Walmart chemical warmers but it was miserable. I am now in a nice cozy Motel 6 in Victoria, Texas. It will be in the 20's when we leave tomorrow. I'm just glad we got out of Houston before this crap hit us! I started a new blog, an since I like theatrics, am going by the blog name of Skeeter Speaks. You can find it here: http://skeeterspeaks.blogspot.com/2009/12/motorcycling-in-snow.html Please take a look if you want. I'll be posting more when we get south of the border. Thanks to all that have helped me in the past!!!!

Well got everything done on the bike. Now all I have to do is pack the clothes and we will be ready. We are really excited about the ride and can hardly wait to get going. I have created a blog space for this trip for anyone that would like to follow along. When we can we will be updating it in the evenings when we have internet access. We will provide commentary about what we saw and the people we met. We will also include pics. The blog site is www.pirateriders.blogspot.com We hope you will join us on our trip.
