Yamaha are looking at taking on the Kawasaki 1400GTR in a big way by launching an updated FJR – the FJR1400 – towards the end of this year. Apart from its 1400cc inline-four, the new FJR is expected to get bits like the latest-generation anti-lock brakes, traction control and a semi-automatic gearbox that offers clutchless gear shifts.

While fiddling with my carbs - and with a battery that is getting low, it feels as if my starter motor clutch is giving up. It could be that as the battery is low and the starter motor has always struggled, it's just not gripping tightly enough , so changing the battery and servicing the starter motor just MIGHT sort things out, otherwise I might have to invest in the starter clutch modification. While searching for bits, though I came across this chap on the US ebay site: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Starter-KIT-Yamaha-M-C-XVZ1200-Venture-XVZ-1200-1198cc-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem414ce55e63QQitemZ280462974563QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories He is selling the bits to refurbish the starter motor, but also sells aftermarket starters. He says that all models are available, so I have asked if he can match the later Royal Star starter which I'm told will fit (awaiting an answer) and wondered if anybody had experience of these.

So I, Mrs Kitty Hubert, Have now a 1987 Royal Venture!!! I'm so happy to have her home from North Carolina. Needs a good bit of work but I've got it under control right now. She is beautiful. Only problems we know of so far are: One of the front brake calipers wasn't working ( OutKast bleed it for me so it's good now ), No clutch?( goes into gear but doesn't move. Got the cover off and looks like small bits of metal and smells burnt:whistling:.), And it has some cosmetic needs. Can't wait to get it on the road. Going to really beat all those second gens now.

Well I thought I had sold someone a sidecar chassis - quite happy to make space in the garage, although I do hate seeing my sidecar fittings go - although I realised that I would be left with even more sidecar chassis-es (? plural?) than I thought I had. Ah well - he rings me up and says that someone has made him a better offer and would I come and look at it with him ! As I'm not ever going to make much money in business I obviously said yes and went over with the outfit and the trailer (which was for sale on Ebay but didn't.. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEUSX:IT&item=180306957313 ) It was a 1960s (?) Watsonian Ascot with most of the fittings, just not the ones for the bike. I'm going to give him a week or two to see how he gets on and then help with the bits he can't do. He seemed to think it would take about an hour ..... The guy selling it had had it for years and was involved with the London Sidecar Club, but dropped out about the time I joined ten or twelve years ago. Anyway, I know how people love slightly odd pictures, so here they are. http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh10/greg_in_london/sidecar/DSCF0080.jpg http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh10/greg_in_london/sidecar/DSCF0081.jpg http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh10/greg_in_london/sidecar/DSCF0083.jpg

Anybody have a good way to get those factory warning stickers off the fuel tank lid? I tried Goof Off and only got bits and peices of them off. Now it really looks like crap!
