A local riding buddy had a interesting nature call last weekend. While riding the backroads of WV natures call hit him with no rest stop available. He found a wide spot on one of those lonely highways and dropped the kickstand for a quick trip to the bushes. As he was getting off the bike bee's were everywhere. Thinking they were yellowjackets he took off running then turned around to find his bike covered in honey bee's. His riding buddy gave him a lift to the next gas station where he called a local bee keeper and paid him to come out and remove the swarm. I LMAO when he told me this story this morning.

I was down at the dock taking some measurements at the bottom of the steps when I heard a humming noise that got louder and louder. I thought it was an approaching aircraft as there has been a fair bit of air traffic as a result of an air-show over the weekend. It was getting rather loud and must have been fairly close because I could feel a vibration in the air... it was then that I looked up and realized I was amidst a swarm of bees! The bees made a cloud that was at least 25ft in diameter and were blocking my exit from the dock. After about twenty minutes the swarm was starting to thin as they were collecting in an adjacent tree, they didn’t seem too interested in me so I cautiously made my way past them and out in the clear. What a relief! Buzzing insects make me nervous and can be quite startling for me (especially when I’m riding along and catch one in the helmet... don’t ask me how I know!). I’ve never witnessed anything like this before so it was quite an experience. Here are some photos as they started collecting in the tree…

Received this in an e-mail this morning... found it kind of fascinating. So I'm using my BBQ this weekend... so I thought I'd clean it up.. I have noticed there are bees coming from under the cover so I thought I 'd kill them, obviously... So here's the BBQ in question. Now i know these bombs aren't for bees and that but i thought i'll suffocate/smoke them out. So here is the weapon of choice and delivery system. I thought I was pretty smart hehehe designed to be easily maneuvered under the cover of darkness... so then i release the weapon of buzz destruction.. OMG! the sound from under the cover was incredible!!! You could hear it 3m away easy... Then I ran like the clappers.... coming back few mins later to see the death toll... was at least 20mm deep mass grave I continued to remove the cover and to light the bbq to give it a clean when i noticed some fattly looking substance on the top of th side shelf thing.... Bit weird.. i clean it before i put it away for winter and no way was there fat there so i begun to wonder...... NO..... it can't be could it? I slowly removed the rest of the cover only to find the HQ..
