How many of you live in the Tampa Bay FL. area ?
-
Hi Venture riders; just thought I'd throw this out there. Was getting work done on my Venture and decided to look at the new bikes on the floor while waiting. In the Bay Area at East Bay Motorsports, they still have 2 brand new 2011's - 2 tone blue that at the time retailed for $21,650 and have lowered the price in order to get them off the floor to $16,900, that's a saving of $4,750. If my bike with 112k on it was in any sort of bad shape, I might jump on it, but I'm good to go for now; so just in case your interested, the place is in Hayward, Ca. and their phone is 510-889-7900. All it takes is a little bit of :rotf:.

I am sitting home recuperating from another injection into my spine for the lower back pain that has me up and down. The last injection lasted me over 6 months, the Dr. thought that was amazing. I hope this one last just as long, you normally have to get at least 2 or 3 before you get some relief, but I got a good Dr. and he hit it right the first time, not like the Dr. Charlene used 6 times and never got any relief, that why she went the surgical route. On another note wanted to let ya'll know I have posted the V Star 1300 Tour I have had for the last 5 years on E Bay. Got to make room for the Trike I have yet to find, but not in a big hurry, at least Charlene isn't. If anyone is interested in it from the site, I would be willing to sell it for the reserve price I have listed on Ebay. If you want to check it out here is the lilnk. http://www.ebay.com/itm/130754333785?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

I am going to share a story with you about something that happened to me last week. That I only found out today what happened. That still scares the hell out of me. Last week I was out on the ocean fishing when I happened to look north and saw a storm heading my way. I headed toward Barneget Lighthouse inlet as fast as I could so I would be at least in the bay. Well unfortunately the storm caught up to me. I got to the bay and was still quite a way from home when out of nowhere a bolt of lightning went across the sky and the clap of thunder immediately followed. This scared me. Then two seconds later another bolt of lightning with the loudest noise I have heard in all my life. It sounded like it hit something directly behind me. This now terrified me which I thought I was literally going to sh** my pants. I didn't know what to do. I had to get off the bay NOW. I was almost going to head to land and just beach the boat till the storm passed. Well I decided to get the hell home ASAP full throttle toward home. I made it to my lagoon and jumped out of that boat the fastest I have ever did it. I MADE IT. HOME. YAY Well now we go ahead a few days. I was doing some pre-checks on the boat as I was going fishing again the next morning. Well the boat started like it always did but for some reason my GPS, Fish finder and gauges were not working. So I checked my wires and fuses but couldn't find anything wrong. I talked to my mechanic and he gave me a few things to check. I went home and started to inspect the boat again when lo and behold I found my problem. That last bolt of lightning HIT MY ANTENNA just above my head. Thank you God for watching over me. I still get the willies thinking about it let alone looking at the pictures. Check them out. WOW.

Sadly, my mother-in-law recently passed way due to lung cancer. She wanted to donate her body to science, but she was rejected, due to the cancer. It came to me to do the final arrangements and did I ever get an awakening into this business. She wanted a cremation with no service, as inexpensive as possible. When contacting funeral homes I was quoted in the $3600 to $4000 range. But there are "burial services" out there that do the same job for $1300 to $1600. We go with an outfit called Tranquility that had NO pressure sales, nice to deal with and just over $1300 for everything. In the meantime, I receive a letter from Bay Gardens, stating that although my mother did pay for the "group package" when my father died,($5000 back in '94) which included everything for my father and then my mother when she passes, one part was omitted and if we wish to save $$ on the future HST tax, we can pay now. I call and ask about this "missing part" and it is the transporting of the body from the nursing home (her current residence) to Bay Gardens for cleaning, and then across the street to the crematorium. For this they want $2000!! I was stunned, told them wait we already paid for the package but I was assured that this was STRICTLY for the transporting of the body. When I asked about Tranquility doing the whole thing for $1300 his answer was they treat the body with dignity .... WTF??? So, I go to pick up my mother-in-laws remains and the guy at Tranquility hands me the box, on top is a receipt of the contents from ...... BAY GARDENS. Seems they contract out the jobs to Tranquility anyway!! Talk about a scam .... And everybodies make a profit here too. Then I start telling the guy at Tranquility about my mum and what a scam these crooks are pulling, when he suggests that since I have paid for the cremation, opening and closing of the niche already with Bay Gardens, I can use their services and instead of $1300 it will only be $800. Versus $2000 with BG! Boy, did I enjoy that call to the smarmy crook at Bay Gardens telling him about the "change of plans". When we originally looked into donating the mother-in-law to science, there is a charge, the transporting of the body ..... the REAL fee $170! Whoa eh? And one last note: Every look through the obits and see those crooks advertising their funeral home right in the persons obit? Thats because the low lifes have said they'll write the obit for the family, plunk in their logo and stick the family with the bill for their advertising. Bottom feeders - IMO:mad: Thanks for letting me rant .... feels better already. I already told the wife when I die to put me on an ice floe and send me out. If I happen to go in the summer, throw me in the freezer for a week, ice should be back by then!

I know that we have many active and retired military personnel on this site and I thought that this might be a piece of history that may intereset you. Ian http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=vcnH_kF1zXc&feature=player_embedded This is the official film made of the surrender ceremony of the Japanese to McArthur in Tokyo Bay Sept 1945, with the actual voice of the General. Apparently this has never been shown to the general public before.

E Bay, that is! C'mon guys, I've had this '84 Royale lying around my garage in pieces for...holy crap!...five years now! I need to get rid of this stuff! Everything listed in My Ads is still here. I would so much rather have one of you get this stuff than to pawn it on eBay...people I don't know.....but it's coming down to that or the junk man. Most of the body work is either gone or trashed. I pitched the windshield in the trash can last night because even though it's whole, it has scratches and the film is peeling off. The rest of this thing will follow suit quickly. I want it gone by Christmas. Here's the big stuff of value; Frame Forks and triple trees with anti-dive valves front and rear wheels (bare) complete rear brake system engine parts-cases, crank balancer, pistons, rods, tranny, oil pump, clutch, heads/cams, etc. fuel tank w/pump plus lots more! Make me an offer.....let's get 'r done!

I canceled my XM subscription when I got my Zumo 550 and now just use the MP3 player. I finally got around to taking the mounts off the bike and out of my Jeep. I use to move it back and forth so I have a Roady XT, two mounts, two docking stations, two antennae, and two power cords. I also have the front brake mount and adapter washers and screws if anybody wants the whole set up. Cheapest I see them on E bay new is $65, plus shipping, with one power supply and one antenna.. I don't remember what I paid for the brake reservoir mount. I'll take $50 shipped , in the US, for everything.

Just this evening I discovered that the problem I have had with hard shifting is due to defective linkage. The adjustment arm had been strippped and simply glued into the threaded part and of course it is out of adjustment. Of course, the PO failed to mention this as well. So, now I am on a hunt for the shift linkage for a 1st edition. If anyone has this linkage assembly and is willing to part with it, please either post your cost or IM me with the amount. I can pay however you want. Looked on flea bay but nothing there.

Went Halibut fishing on San Francisco Bay all day yesterday. Unlike the previous trip where we slayed the Butt's, this time we didn't land one. But all was not lost. One our first drift I landed a 53" 50# White Sea Bass. My first WSB, and the biggest on the Bay this year.

And not on 2 wheels... Went fishin'. We fished San Francisco Bay for Halibut. My first time on what we call a 6pak charter. Not as roomy as one of the bigger 'cattle' boats, but more successfull. WE were also treated to the arrival of the Mexican Naval academy's Cuauhtemoc. From the other side of the bay it was a little washed out and hazy, but still impressive. http://www.latitude38.com/lectronic/img_lectronic_800/2009-07-13_4753_CUAU-1.jpg And attached are the pics of the trip. Fish'n'Chips for dinner tonight.

tonight after i turned onto my street I noticed that my directional didnt stop blinking after 100 yards or so liek normal so i took another trip around the block and that when i noticed why as my speedo wasnt working I parked in the garage and checked the cable when i took it off the wheel fitting I saw that the end was a twisted mess. I tried to turn it by hand and it was not spinning at all. so i tore into the dash and removed the cable off the speedo and the cable snins freely. stuck it back on and it dosnt turn at all connected to the speedometer? could somthning have come loose in the guage or is it probly shot? can the speedometer be changed out of the dash pod or is a new pod required? thanks for any help. oh ya would a dealor still be able to get one or is it a E Bay only deal now? I was hopeing to go to Thunder by the bay in a couple weeks and it would bve nice to know how fast im going.:headache: ps I read in another thread about a bearing in the speedometer, could this freeze up and be repaired? just looking for where to start looking when i tear into the guage/

Just wondering if there are any members from North Bay Ontario here. I am going to be riding up to the Bay Thurs to Sat this week. I know it is short notice, but was hoping to meet anyone in the area. I am going to meet up with some friends up there, and do some riding on Friday. I am also meeting with the guy who is going to paint my bike over the winter, so he can get some pics and take any measurements he might need. It is the same guy who painted the helmet in my profile, and in some of my gallery pics that you have commented on, so the bike will be amazing when it is done. Anyways, if anyone is in the area, let me know if you are interested in meeting up, and riding of course. Or even suggestions for nice rides in the area would be awesome too. Sonny
