I'm having trouble deciding between the Bub slip-ons or the Barons slip-ons. I like the looks of the Barons more, but am afraid they might be too loud. Does anyone know which on is louder (baffles in) ? I've listened to the sound clips, but couldn't tell. Also, it seems to be quite the task to pull the Bub baffles, with cutting welds & drilling rivets, etc. How easy is it to pull the baffles on the Barons:confused24:? These are the two questions I need info. on. Thanks a bunch.

Hi All, Added a few new parts to my new (to me) 96 Royal. Cobra drag pipes, Corbin Solo Seat, Barons Star Bars, Kuryakyn Curved lighted licence plate holder, Barons Ultimate Light Bar and rear fender rack. I am happy with the new parts but as always there is more to do. Next is internally wiring the bars, blacking out and polished fins on the engine covers, tacho, braided lines all round, bigfoot mod and Dyna ignition. Ahh, so much to do....so little money.

Hi All, Received my Barons Ultimate Light Bar recently. Amazing quality, very happy. Just went to fit it only to find no wiring in the harness for driving lights! Barons spell it out in the instructions that there should be a blue wire for the left and right driving lights as well as the the two left and right turn signals. Turn signal cabling is fine. Nothing to be seen for the driving lights! I have checked the loom in case it just wasnt run into the original light bar and nothing! I can only assume its something to do with Australian compliance laws as I cannot imagine they would leave them out for any other reason. Not sure what people buying the Genuine Yamaha lightbar thought when they went to fit them also. Now i will have to run a feed directly from the battery via a relay. Its just extra hassle i didnt want. I just thought it was very bizzare. Any other Aussie riders out there who have found the same issue?

Does anyone have some pictures of the Barons tachometer mounted on the master cylinder cover of their bike? I'm going to be purchasing a tach and wanted to see what this set up looks like prior to purchasing. Also, what are you thoughts on it? Does it do everything you want it to? Does it look nice? Was the installation easy? Thoughts please? Thanks, Les

I see I got an email Friday for 15% off on Baron's or LA Choppers stuff, good through today only, 10/2/11. The promo code is "secret15". Pretty sure that's not a secret,, just for me. STAR Touring members also get free ship,, I think (may have to call the 800# on that). Just google for Baron's motorcycle or LA Choppers. Mike G

Hi Folks, First, let me say that this is definitely one of the best sites around and the folks here are always informative and if nothing else.. entertaining.. I have been on this site for about a year and a half and have found the tech sections and discussion very helpful and informative. Best $12 a year I have ever spent. The question I have for everyone is .. has anyone ever tried or is using the Baron's Longboard replacement for the stock floorboards? I have tried different style highway pegs and nothing seems to work for me but want a little more room to adjust my feet while out riding. Have seen the the longer floorboards on the Victory's and think they are a great idea. Have been looking for something similar and found the Baron's version but not sure how they would really work or how adjustable they are.. front to back.. side to side? Thought I would check here before I go and blow $300 on new floorboards and don't fit my needs either. Thanks Ah.. PS.. I am riding a 2004 RSV.. love the bike .. one of the best touring bikes I have ridden..

I know that it has been discussed a lot and I have been searching reading through past post to see what I can find as well. My bike(97 Royal Star Tour Classic with 35K miles) has the Barons Big Air Kit installed: http://www.baronscustom.com/catalog/display/254/ ,....along with Barons Nasty Boys Exhaust. It runs Strong, Sounds great, but I only get about 32-34 MPG with it,..No matter how I drive it. This seems very low compared to what I have been reading in past post's. I have new plugs, run synthetic oil, have had the carbs synced at an idle (they needed it), but still have no improvements. Would the bigger jets in the Barons Kit make for the poor fuel economy? I would consider different jets if it would bring me closer to the 40 MPG mark. I called Barons today and they were no help at all,.. Any input would be appreciated,. Its just a bummer to have to fuel up every 125 miles when the others that we ride with can go 200 miles on a tank with their v-twins.

Took the barons lowering links off today and went back to stock, thanks for the links BIG TOM. I left the rear caliper relocation bracket alone and just put the stock links back on as Hulign said quick and easy and if for some reason I want to go back I can. Thanks to Hulign for all his imput. I still have a Barons kit in the front may got back to stock there as well and slide the tubes up. Took the scoot out and it seems much better and coners better as well.

I haven't been able to find any specific info about the red lens covers that are on the aftermarket chrome trunk wraparound on this '86 I picked up. I'm not sure if they were made by Barons or not, but I think they are. Any of you 1st genners have some info on where to get some new red lenses?

Has anyone removed their rear Barons kit and put their RSV back to stock height. If so what kind of project is this and what needs to be done. Thanks
-
I guess this can really go for any 3" tach. Can you post pictures of how you have it mounted to your scoots? Anybody have a Baron's mini-tach for sale?
-
On my RSTD, I lowered the front and rear about 3/4". At my height, that makes it safer for two-up at stop. On the rear I have the Barons kit but got new links made half way between stock and their 1/1/2" size. I want to do the same on my 2009 Venture. But if I am only going about 3/4", I'm wondering if I need to go to the trouble of installing a rear calliper relocation kit (IE: Barons). So, does anyone know how far you can drop the rear before you need to move the calliper???? Thanks, Mike G in SC

I like the height of my bars, but would like them to come back towards me another couple of inches. I looked tonight & I already have a set of the Barons 1.5" extensions on there. Are there any risers out there that would bring them back even more but without raising them?

I am considering putting The barons star bars on my 2008 rsv. Does anybody near the Sacramento,Ca area have these on their venture. I would like to see them on a bike before I decided to do it. Can anybody help?

Anyone have one laying around they aren't using and might like to sell cheap? I have a really old Baron's tach mounted to the brake reseviour appx. 9-10 yrs old (goes up to 12k rpm which they no longer sell). I have talked to V7Goose and Bummer (thanks guys for your help and suggestions) and seems it has kicked the bucket. I really can't afford a new Baron's tach and am planning on doing one of Ponch's kit in the future, but in the meantime I would like to replace the one I have since it doesn't work properly anymore w/ another one.

I'm new to the forum here but I've been doing some reading on lowering the RSV and I think the route I want to take is to lower the back with the Baron's kit 1" and do the front forks the 1-1/2" with the Barons kit as well. I just wanted to ask if anyone has any feedback on the front kit? I see it has progressive springs, which I loved on my Shadow. The kit is HERE. It doesn't say RSV, but isn't the RS Tour Deluxe the same basic chassis?

I modified my Baron's Nasty Boys today so they are not so nasty. They sound good on the jack but I haven't put the rear wheel on yet to try them on the road. I welded a heavy washer with a 5/8 hole to the inlet of the baffle to reduce the flow a little and cause a little more back pressure, seems to have worked but time will tell. I am attempting a video of them. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9ryuwQjI4I]YouTube- Picture or Video 013.avi[/ame]

If you have the barons lowering kits front and rear can you remove the rear kit and go back to stock in the rear, leaving the front lowered with the barons kit? Would this react the same as leveling liknls would on a stock bike? Thanks

I have a 99 Venture that the rear is lowered with a Barons kit. I`m lowering the front with a Barons kit that come with springs ( progressive I believe) and Race tech gold emulators. Kit # BA-7503rs From what I understood in a conversatoin with Barons tech line the kit was sold for a Road Star least to begin with. My question is Might the gold emulators be adjusted a little tighter to account for the Ventures heavier front end. ( Fairing is the main thought) The other question is Would more spring pre load be a good idea in this. Thanks for your time WP50

I've read all the posts I could find and never did find a clear answer so here goes. I have a 2005 RSTD and for height reasons I'm getting a barons rear lowering kit put on in the next week or 2. I've read about the adverse effects but am going ahead with it. The bike already stands fairly straight up on the kickstand with the stock suspension and zero air in the rear shock. My concern is that by lowering the back, the bike will stand even more straight up on the kickstand. When I expressed my concern to the dealer he showed me the barons kit and said that a particular piece in the kit would compensate for this. I emailed barons and unfortunately the person either wasn't up on this subject or was just trying to get rid of me because he gave me a part number for a road star kickstand. So has anybody lowered their RSTD with a barons kit without altering the kickstand??? I know that I can buy a kickstand from an earlier royal star and it's 11 1/4" long which is about 2" shorter than mine but I'm not sure if it's needed. thanks for all your help Greg

Well I got the barons 424 mufflers on and I have the whine, but I'm having too much fun with the loud exhaust to care. The video does not do the mufflers justice, They are LOUD. I'll try to put the go pro on the saddlebags and see if it will demo the sound better. I'll post when done if anyone is interested. I know I like watching videos with the sound of the bike not music. Here's the link....[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axrKx0tG-L4]YouTube- Yamaha Royal star tour deluxe / with barons 424[/ame]

Just wanted to say thanks for the tip on the Barons bar extensions, installed mine this weekend( simple if you loosen brake control) and took my first ride with them on. Wow, total comfort! Bike fits me perfect now.

Does anyone happen to have stock mufflers lying around. More than willing to pay a price and shipping for them. Not quite sure if I want to get rid of the Baron's for good yet, but want to try stock again since it has been so long. Thanks for the help.

I am just trying to get a handle on how many users have had problems with their throttle cables either being too short or too tight after installing risers (Baron's or other). Yes, I know that Baron's says longer cables are not needed, but I have read through enough posts to see that there is some sort of problem. I plan on getting these risers from this eBay seller: Polished Risers I think I prefer these because they are polished, where the Baron's looked brushed. Anyway, I am trying to figure out if I should just go ahead and order a longer throttle cable... Thanks.
