Looking to replace my Larin MC jack (MAL-2C). The jack bottle died, second one to do that. (but must admit it does not get used often) Also, the balance with the Venture on it is very poor, actually downright scarry. Seems to be a toss up between the Pit Bull and the J&S. Want something sturdy, good balance with a Venture in the air, and good warranty. I do alerady have Carbon One's adapter. I may see what's at the IMS this weekend in Atlanta. Suggestions? Thanks, Mike G

Hello all, I was just wondering if there is anyone close to Akron Ohio that might be able to help change out my tires? I'm willing to take them off and all, but I don't have the tools to break them down and spin balance them. If someone's got their on little garage that is willing to help, I'd be more than willing to through a few bones their way for the effort. Please feel free to PM me. Like I said, I'll take the old tires off and on, I just need help getting the new tires on the wheel hub and balance them. Thanks

Noticed this weekend....the front end/handlebars have quite a bit of vibration on all but the smoothest roads. Is this another venture quirk? My guess is poor balance of front wheel or slop in steering head section...sound about right? Haven't checked either yet...but new tires coming Thursday. That and some dynamo beads should eliminate any balance issues. Looks like 9000 miles on original 404's

My wife had a platinum CapitalOne credit card, last year she paid of the balance and called on the same day to tell them to close the account. The woman she talked to, said that that was no problem, got all the security confirmation to close the account and told her to cut up the card and mail it in along with a written request confirming the phone conversation. You know where this is going, don't you? Lo and behold she gets a statement which she obviously ignored because the account is closed, right?! Apparently not, they went ahead and assessed their annual membership fee and then started charges late pay fees. By the thhe time we figure out wat is what, they are claiming she owes almost $150. So she calls and is told the account couldn't be closed because it should be in writing , we already did that I believe, but, i went ahead and wrote a nice letter requesting the account be closed, because she was told that would take care of it, the balance erased and the account would be closed. Wrong!!!!! :doh:We get a letter stating that the account needs to be closed by talking to a representative :confused07::confused07:. So I call Brenda, who is visiting her mother and tell her what they said, she calls them, explains the whole thing for the, what, fifth time and is told accounts can only be closed in writing :bang head::bang head: I think we've been there??? She talked to them again last night and was told she did not notify them to close the account in a timely manner (I guess the day you pay of the balance is not timely enough) and therefore acquired the annual fee, of course they won't close the account with an open balance either. I got three words: WTF?????

So Hinshaw in Auburn Wa had Honda Demo day. So a friend (85 Goldwing) and I (91 MKII) rode out and I test rode a 2012 Wing. The last time I was on a Wing was my 1980 (Bought New) then sold in 83 and went to raise a family. The 2012 Wing is all that I've read and heard about. Smooth, Smooth, Smooth. I had it in 5th and took it down to 5 mph and throttled it and it was stlll smooth. All Power, Power, Power. Wow lots of torque. Agle and nimble, nimble, nimble. Very responsive to curves and any little push of the handle bar. Balance, Balance, Balance. I couldn't believe that at a stop light, I was sitting on one of the heavest production touring if not the heavest and I was tossing the Wing left and right with easy. With a little more time on the Wing, I think I could make most complete stops without my foot ever leaving the foot pegs. Slow speed crawls are so effortless. When I first sat on the Wing. It seemed like I was sitting on top of the Wing and I'm only 5 ft 8 inchs. Everything seemed like I was looking down on it. But it took only a few miles before I quickly adjusted to the Wings sitting and gage position. It was something that I been wanting to do for many years. So now I can put it to rest. Would I trade my 91 MKII for it......no... The Wing is Smoother, but so is the MKII. I can ride my MKII 500 miles in a good day and do the vibration test. Which is to touch some stationary object with my hands and my hands does not zing. The Wing has more power. Well that is a given 1300 vs 1800. My VR MKII can get up and really go also. I think the Wing seems to responds quicker and could be more manuverable. But the question is how much more. Like I said I think, but not real sure. The Wing definately seems to have it hands down on balance at the stop light, but then the Wing had foot pegs and my VR had floor boards. Not a real big issue for I'm almost flat footed on my VR with Floor boards and as soon as I get my seat back from Rick Butler I should be flat footed for the seat will be lowered a little over 1 inch. I do miss the smooth ride that the stock OEM springs provided on my VR when on ruffer roads. I just installed Progressive. So I really can't compare the spring acton between my VR and the Wing, but the Wing sailed over the bumps. After getting back on my VR, I prefer the seat position of my VR for I feel like I sit in the VR rather sitting on top of the Wing. All the gages on my VR are out in front which I prefer for viewing. I also like the way the VR engine thumps at low speeds a bit more like a typical m/c then really smooths out as one gets going. I also like the sound of the VR more when I get on the engine, the VR has a really nice throaty sound. The Wing with all that plastic almost seems to be in a slightly different catagory than a motorcycle. I like to see more of the bikes engine and stuff. The VR MKII seems to have the right balance. I'm always looking back at my Shiny VR as I'm walking away from it. The other think is that as my 21 year old VR, just gets better with each aging year like a nice classic car. While any new 2012 bike after the 1st year new newess is over then its just a used m/c with years of payments to come. Its kind of like for me I'm getting ready in a couple of years for a brand new car. My plan is to buy a nicely reconditioned 65 GTO rather than buying a brand new car. So I'm kind of particial to an older vehicle reconditioned that a brand new vehicle. Well there you have it. I'm glad I got the test ride out of my system. My VR pass the test for I still prefer the VR.

I have been paying one local hospital monthly payments for services not covered by insurance. They sent me a letter with a 50 % discount offer off the balance due if I pay in full by march 31st. Nice offer but still the balance due would be a sacrifice with Ramona still not working. I think I will call them with a counter offer accepting the 50 % reduction if they will accept maybe a increase in monthly payment $$$'s until paid in full. Anybody had luck with hospital negotiations?

Mounted my new E lll last night. Aired it up left it sit and put it back on bike this morning. Bounced it and then forgot to check air. Rode a little and checked it and it was about 15 lbs low. Then happened to think I forgot to balance the blasted thing. So I thought I have a bottle of Ride-On. I could balance and fix leak at same time. Bright ain't I?? Took it home, let all air out put Ride-On in and aired it back up. Took it for ride to settle Ride-On in. Got about 1/2 mile and it started that dreaded wobble. Got stopped and tire was flat!! Had came completely broke loose from one side of rim. Limped it back home, aired it up and got it to seal. Took it for ride and ended up pushing it pretty hard just to check it. No problems at all and seems to be balanced pretty well. Have no idea how much of the Ride-On I lost. Some of it was splattered on bike but not much. Kind of hard to look in tire. Now I don't know if I can trust the thing or not. I pushed it thru some 30 mph turns this evening at 55 to 60. Hung right in there. (I was Mad and acting stupid) I said acting goo...aww nevermind!!! Think I should just ride it??

My good friend ordered the new E3s for his 09 Ultra Classic. The dealer won't balance them since they require 3.7 oz of weights. He called Jake Wilson and they will take them back and send a replacement set and no cost. It appears that the new tire for the HD line has had some problems. The dealer said that not only are they way out of balance but the front one is out of round. Just passing it on.

I know lots of members here seem to like the Dyna Beads for tire balance. In general, I am not a fan of adding ANYTHING to my tires except air, but I have never joined that discussion since I didn't have any real information or first hand experience with the product. Well, now I have some info that I thought I would share in the hopes of maybe helping a few members here not waste their money. I am a huge believer in Motorcycle Consumer News - I won't go into all the reasons why at this time, but I have great faith in their testing and opinions. The following comes from their answer to a letter asking about Dyna Beads in the February 2010 issue: " MCN evaluated the Dyna Beads on a reader's suggestion back in October of 2006. Although the tiny white ceramic beads have apparently found favor with long-haul truckers, we tested them in a Honda 599. Using a shop's spin balancer, we checked the bike's rear wheel, which had 1.6 oz. of balance weights in place. The balancer agreed with the amount and location of the weights. After installing the specified two ounces of beads in the rear tire and then removing the rim weights, the balancer found an out of balance condition. This test was repeated five times and the balancer continued to call for the replacement of the 1.6 oz. of rim weights in the same location. Over-the-road testing was next. Without the rim weights, the rear wheel produced noticeable vibration and the installation of the beads gave a barely perceptible improvement. Also, the weight of the beads added so close to the tire tread gave a noticeable increase in gyro stability, making the steering heavier. We also tried them on a car and were disappointed. Bottom line: Save your money for a proper spin balance." Goose

I mounted a new Dunlop E3 rear tire last week - carefully positioned the dot with the valve stem - only took 1/2 oz to perfectly balance the tire. That is the way it SHOULD be. But alas, on the way back from Don's carnival, with only 5 days and 3.000 miles on that tire, I picked up a big screw that damaged the sidewall and destroyed the tire. So with great sadness I ordered a new Dunlop E3 - came in this morning and I mounted it this afternoon. Same wheel, of course, and I carefully positioned the dot exactly with the valve stem, but did it take 1/2 oz???? Or even 1 oz or 2 oz?? Nooooooooo - How about FIVE oz of lead to pull this cruddy tire into balance? Yeah, you read that right - 5 oz! I ordinarily can't accept any tire that takes more than 3 oz of weight to balance, but this time I just wimped out. Shoulda broken the tire down and rotated it on the wheel to try and find a better balance spot, but it was dumping rain and I was just too danged lazy. And since I ordered the tire on the web, it wasn't easy to go demand a replacement, so I ended up just accepting the 5 oz balance.. But I still get to whine about it, don't I? Never had that kind of wild weight shift with Avons - just another reason I may go back to the Venom on this bike. Goose

I've always static balanced my bike tires and they've worked fine. However I need to know a good way to balance my 8 inch trailer tires. Any ideas?

Been meaning to post this but been tied up as of late. Last weekend I had tightened my steering head bearings and removed the bars to get better access to the nut. I believe in the process I may have pull the little tube on the balance kit a little and when I took it to work the next day, the tube on the right fork came loose. I noticed this because I had some fork oil running down the fork. I didn't notice any adverse handling, and I am assuming that this because when the tube came off, the forks "balanced" out to 0 PSI. However, what does concerns me is that I lost some of the fork oil. How much "loss" should I be concerned with? Doesn't look like I lost a whole lot, but it is kinda hard to tell as oil, as most of you know, seems to spread easily Also, do I absolutely need the little white thing that slips over the tube and the nipple, as it seems to have disappeared, and would a small zip tie work as a decent replacement, if needed? Thanks in advance

Quickstep got the C/T onto my wheel today. Took seven goes, and nearly 100psi. Just needs a balance and all is good.

Here's what I'm curious about... When running in the twisties does a heavier rider need to lean into the curve more than a light rider to maintain zero effect and balance at the same speed taking into consideration the static weight of the bike?? Hey it's raining...whadija expect...

I just removed my rear tire this afternoon and will be taking it to a dealer to install my new tire. Do I need to remove the rear brake disk for them to balance the tire? Oh yes, I do have pics on my rear tire removal...will be posting soon.

Just wondering what your experience is with the Progressive Suspension Air Fork Balance Kit. 1) How long have you had them? 2) Have you had any trouble with them leaking? 3) Would you buy them again? 4) If you are not using this kit how do you manage to balance your front fork air pressure or do you leave it at “0”?

I'm sure that I'm not the only one who lost a ton of money last year in the stock market. I was down about 30 thousand dollars. I've always heard that you should buy when stocks are low, so I kept buying when it looked like the bottom was just gonna keep getting lower. I just checked my balance today and was pleasantly surprised to learn that I'm back up to about where I was before. I'm sure I'm not the only one. I hope everyone else is making a comeback too.

Hey Folks, Need a little help. In May of 2009 I put new Avons on my 2000 RSV (with about 17,500 miles on it and 4000 on the tires) and tightened the bearing for the front fork (bike had a low speed wobble problem). It has since developed an out of balance feeling in the front end that creates a "thump" at low speed that can be felt in the handle bars - kinda what you would feel on a "washboard" gravel road – but I’m not on one at the time. Had the front tire checked for balance and normal wear and it was OK. Have tried different tire and front fork air pressures with no change. At highway speed I can't feel anything. The weird thing is that some days it doesn't do it - or at least as much - maybe it is temperature sensitive? Didn't go to Vogel because I'm not sure what this is - kinda bummed about that. Anyway, any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks,

Gee, waiting for an email and nothing forthcoming??? Just curious as to the balance I owe for a bracelet????

Hi Folks. I just got off the phone after talking with Pete (tessac2). He seems to being doing well considering. He has questions from stroke survivors. He was wondering if folks could put their experiances here and in particular interest to him is the bikers who are riding after having a stroke. His left hand is quit weak and at this time he says he could not close the clutch if his life depended on it. His left leg is weak and his foot wont listen too well yet. Not good enough to shift gears he figures. And lastly...balance...the folks in rehab are worried about balance for riding. He tries to peek in here every now and then...but I will print up everything just before we head out to see him next Saturday. Thanks
