I attached 2 American Flags onto the rack on the top of the trunk. The masts of the flags fold forward to put the bike cover on. The problem is that apparently because of the large windshield and my body, we create a vacuum and the flags fly backwards! This causes the masts to fold down onto the trumk. I'll try tightening the hinge bolts a little more, but has anyone else here ever experienced this problem? A real Bummer! Owen.

I was on the hunt to find how to raise the rear of the bike for better handling and more clearance in the twisties. I was lead to this post about making links. The leveling links spoke of in this forum lower the bike and they dont work for the earl RS. Pegscraper was doing a bunch of calculations and figured out that if we were to diconnect the linkage and replace them backwards. Facing the opposite direction the bike would raise very close to an inch. This post died in 2007 and there has been no update on how well this has worked out. I PMed pegscraper with no response so maybe someone else who has done this can chime in. I did this to my royal star this afternoon but due to a cold I cannot ride it yet. Maybe tommorow and see what difference there is. I only fear the strength of the links as installing them backwards allows a weaker, thinner side of the metal link to be in place of the fatter beefier side. I wonde rif this causes any malfuntion in the future.

A little boy got on the bus, sat next to a man reading a book, and noticed he had his collar on backwards. The little boy asked why he wore his collar backwards. The man, who was a priest, said, 'I am a Father..' The little boy replied, 'My Daddy doesn't wear his collar like that.' The priest looked up from his book and answered, ''I am the Father of many.' The boy said, ''My Dad has 4 boys, 4 girls and two grandchildren and he doesn't wear his collar that way!' The priest, getting impatient, said. 'I am the Father of hundreds', and went back to reading his book. The little boy sat quietly thinking for a while, then leaned over and said, "Maybe you should wear a condom, and put your pants on backwards instead of your collar."

Been dealing with the local dealer for a number of years with sleds and bikes! Lost a lot of faith in them today! Did an oil change on the bike and checking everything over lights etc. What the H.ll turn signal on left the front blinks right and visa versa other way! The dealer installed passing lihhts for me about 5000km ago and hooked the sinals up BACKWARDS! As I walk into dealer this am the salesman says how are you I said glad I did not get smoked you guys hooked up the signal lights backwards. Response from service guy was no way we would have done that! I put the keys on the desk and said I will be back later this morning for the bike!. At the front door I spopped and told him YOU installed the passing lights and YOU assembled the bike!! When I picked up the bike they were very sheepish and appologetic! How fortunate I did not get smoked at an intersection!!! Lawsuit would have been underway for sure! Lesson learned check over everything YOURSELF!!!! Sorry this was such a book! Ken!

Has anyone come up with a reverse gear yet for the RSV? I have see one that was made for HD. It looks like just an extra gear that runs the tranny backwards. http://www.dauntlessmotors.com/Mountinghardware/reverse.htm

I purchased a new set of tires for my 06 Midnight Venture yesterday afternoon. We went riding today with a group of friends. Put about 240 miles on the new tires. I noticed that the bike was not handling well. It also had vibration in the handlebars and floorboards, which I have never had before. The longer we rode, the worse it got. When we stopped for a coffee break this afternoon, I got to looking and discovered that the front tire is mounted backwards! The arrow on the sidewall is pointed backwards, as is the tread design! WHAT THE CRAP?!! Now I have to wait til Tuesday (dealer is closed on Mondays), call them, and they will have to order me a new tire. Won't be surprised if I have to argue with them because they will probably want to remount this same tire correctly, but I don't want that. I have been told that the tires are directional and if run backwards it degrades the tire's integrity and can be unsafe. Anyone have any knowledge about this?
