Well, Squidly and Lonna stopped yesterday with an empty bike trailer behind their suv so we loaded Dragonrider's '93' Trike on it. They left around 3:30 and was headed South. I suspeck that sometime this afternoon we should all hear a loud whooping and hollaring coming out of the Atlanta Ga. area - That'll be Lewis screaming as he tries to get all of the ratchet ties off his trike so he can ride it.

Here is a few pics of how I got two motorcycles to Georgia. I did have a fatality on the way that made for a very long trip at about the 4 hour mark of a 11 hour ride my cigarett lighter decided to eject from the handlebar but the trip went on.I made it to Atlanta without a ticket or other problem so I consider myself lucky. And Yes I will do the same thing again if the need arises. I decided over the past week to make it to Don's maintenance day this year and have made arrangements to get the time off work. The plan so far is to take the 87 VR if I get this years redo re-done by then. That would allow me to drag the camping trailer and camp out at Don's. If not i'll be taking the 2007 Midnight Venture loaner that we require getting a room since it does not have a trailer hitch. I plan on riding up on Thursday and back on Sunday and was wondering who might be coming through Atlanta on the way that might want to hook up to ride up together.

Its been a long cold winter and I'm ready for a road trip and motorcycle adventure. Due time schedule, responsibilities and resources I'm not planning to do the whole week thing. But' I think I can pull off the following. Leaving Atlanta area after work on Wednesday 5:00 to 7:00PM-ish, Doing a night ride to Moonshiner's Campground at Ormand Beach, next door to Destination Daytona. Pitching a tent and then spending Thursday, Friday and Saturday doing the bike rally thing. Then leaving Daytona around Noon on Sunday heading back to Atlanta. That would put me back in Atlanta around 8:00 to 9:00 PM-ish. In time to rest and make work Monday morning. I tentalively have one buddy talking about riding with me. But, because he rides a Hardley, just in case, he is having his wife follow in the truck with a trailer. I guess back up is never a bad thing. With that scenario it allows the opportunity to throw the camping gear and luggage in the back of the truck for shipment to and from the event. Those of you that know me, know it's a done deal if I've thought it out this far. All are welcome to ride with me, hook up on the way, or in Daytona. Let your conscience and courage be your guide. If interested send a PM or e-mail before it's too late.

I'm not saying, I'm just saying.... Terry, Blackjack has busted his arze to keep us together for the past three years... and somebody needs to step up to the plate and and pick up the ball and run with it.... so I'm guess I'll try,,,,,, Here in Atlanta the riding conditions have sucked for the past few weeks even though I have been riding on a daily basis to get to work and back. But, this weekend on Saturday it looks like we might have a fairly decent riding day and the Great American Motorcycle show will be in town. All I'm saying is that this might be a good day and opportunity to get together in a spirit of mutual friendship, comraderie and fellowship to get together for the purpose of a ride opportunity, Viewing the show, a meal together and talking about how we will keep the North Georgia monthly meet and eat together. I'm willing to provide an after show meeting place at the Atlanta chapter of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 714 near Spaggetti Junction for food, adult libations and entertainment to discuss the future of the North Georgia Venture riders participation in monthly meet and eats. ALL WITHIN THE SOUND OF MY VOICE ARE WELCOME. What I'm suggesting is maybe picking a meeting spot for breakfast, going to the show and getting together afterwards for a group social activity to discuss how we might honor Blackjacks efforts by keeping the North Georgia Monthly meet and eats alive. Speaking for myself, I know that many of the memories and valued friendships that I have realized on this forum have been a direct result of the Terry's selfless commitment to trying to bring us together and I for one would hate to see that end. Please E-mail, PM, post or call me directly with interest in making this happen. Love you guys, Bob, The Atlanta Dragonslayer

He's 30 and single and makes good money so doesn't need anything big, but has no Idea what are the better areas in or around Atlanta. I have a web site that gives me a lot of stats for any area but would be faster if I had some idea where to start looking. I don't know yet what part of Atlanta their headquarters are. Any locations would help..Thanks.

Well he finally made it back to his base. We dropped him off at the airport on sunday. Actually we pretty much threw him out of the truck said a quick goodbye and left. It was a bit of a mad house at the Atlanta airport. So he got to Dubai then had to fly to Kuwait. Some new policy after I made his reservations that said they have to go and come from Kuwait. I figured out why after he got there. You have to pay 15 for a visa and then some more for a few other things. Seems they have a racket going. Anyway then he had to get to Kandahar. That took a bit of time then he got stuck in Kandahar. Finally got to shindand yesterday, but I heard from him today which is their tomorrow. Anyway, he finally made it there. He has 54 days to go. 50 till he leaves Afghanistan then 4 in Kuwait or something like that. Then he heads to Atlanta again and takes their transport back to Benning. After he gets done with that he's mine again. Hopefully the last bit of time will go fast. I guess I should figure out where to get a clock to countdown the days and add it to my signature. Margaret

I have a big trip planned to ride from Atlanta GA to Vancouver Island, I need to arrive there on May 8th.. I am sure some of the roads I would like to travel will be good and I am planning to try to do as much back roads as possible. I am a little concerned about the mountain passes primarily due to snow but I can avoid most places if I have to.. I was kind of planning on camping a couple of nights then hosteling/hotelling it the other nights.. I was thinking I would need to leave about April 30th to May 1st to get there by the 9th.. My plan is to Ride from Atlanta to Seattle WA then take a Ferry to Vancouver Island Never done a solo trip like this before so I appreciate any good advise from my fellow riders.. I have new tires, Heated riding gear, a good saddle and my bikes been serviced so I have all the gear I think I need just need some good routes going North West that I can ride that will keep me covering the country in an efficient time frame Thanks for your help and tips Stewart (Twowheelsonly) UPDATED INFO TO ORIGINAL MESSAGE Proposed Ride Route I have ridden 500 to 700 miles per day with not too much problems.. I usually need a 3rd day to rest up so I can probably knock off a couple of hundred miles on that day, I plan to ride the super slab if I need to catch up on my time, subject to weather or other delays, I have tentatively picked back roads that travel through or by the following cities: Atlanta to Nashville TN, to St. Louis, to Kansas City MO, to Denver CO, to Cheyenne, to Jackson WY to Idaho Falls ID, to Spokane WA to Seattle to Victoria BC I have traveled the CA and coast routes in a cage many times.. I think I will plan a southern trip next year to see the southern states.. I appreciate the input and advise! Stewart (Twowheelsonly)

Hey folks...I finally got part 3 edited and uploaded to the podcast site. This is the episode where Bob, Atlanta Dragonslayer finds a body in New Mexico, and reports it to the State Police. He has a problem with a rear tire, and manages to find one in Tucumcari NM. Next, he rides into Amarillo where I met him and we ran around taking in some scenery and meeting some locals. Then he heads off to Atlanta on a 1000 mile Iron Butt Run! http://www.venturepodcasting.com Click on 'Podcasts'

On an earlier thread I posted that I had bought an 84 VR off Ebay from a fellow member. Now I'm weighing options on how to get the bike from Central PA to Atl, Ga. And I was wondering if any members from that area were planning a trip south by cage and would consider picking the bike up and towing it south. Of course I would offset thier travel expenses by paying them for thier time and trouble. I would also be glad to meet them down south closer to Atlanta if they were not planning to come to or through Atlanta. Any takers?

This weekend finds the return of the Cycle World International Motorcycle Show to the World Congress Center in Atlanta. This show is huge! All the major manufacturers will have their full line of cycles displayed and it's also a great opportunity to see an endless variety of after-market accessories as well as helmets, gloves, tires and all sorts of other gear. There's a discount available if you buy your ticket in advance online and there's also a list available of local shops that can provide you with a discount coupon, if that's easier. Janis and I have found that going early on Sunday provides the least amount of hassle and the most enjoyment, since the large crowds usually show up on Saturday and there's significantly less Atlanta traffic to contend with! http://www.motorcycleshows.com/motorcycleshows/static/staticHtml.jsp?id=359197 If you do happen to be there on Sunday, let's meet at the Yamaha display at 2PM!
