So I finally got my class fixed(thank you to everyone for your help), and my front forks still dive and bottom out when I hit the brakes. I can see the forks raise and lower when I use the compressor. I rode it at 21 lbs and over little bumps and when I brake it dives down and clunks, what I assume is bottoming out. Anyone know what I should check? I just bought the bike and don't know any history of it, so I can only assume that everything is original. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know how many of you cruise Craig's List but have you noticed all the Harleys for sale. No this is not ment to bash Harleys, it is just an observation I made. They are still asking an arm and a leg for them too. Everthing from Ultras to the old Toppers from the 50's. I assume that they all bought them and found out they couldn't afford them or they really don't ride and the fad is over. A 5 year old bike with 5K for miles... whats wrong with that picture? I'll stick with my Midnight thank you!

The boat I got last year has a set of air horns in it. I don't think I need them on the boat as much as on my '83 vr! I haven't dug into it yet so I don't even know what parts need to be moved...I assume there has to be some sort of compressor as well as the horns themselves. I've read about needing relays when adding just about any electrical stuff to our bikes. Is there a concern of how much power they draw? what relay do I need? (if any) Does the relay used depend on the draw? I assume it goes on the hot wire between the battery and load? I wouldn't think so, but just to be sure, should it be close to the battery or close to the load or does it matter? And lastly....what the heck does a relay DO anyway?

With all the foul weather, the old girl is taking a cold weather nap. Started her today and noticed that oil is coming from the shifter stem. I assume there is a bushing of some type???? I have never had a drip from there before. How do I stop the drip??? joe:starz:

a lot of the threads were pretty old, and I could never really gather a consensus. Does anyone have the Kuryakn Grips (Part Number: KY-6235) installed right now on their bike and how do you like them? Also...unless you do some sort of modificiations, I assume we have to LOSE the weights...correct? So if you have these grips...can you comment on them...good, bad, or indifferent. Thanks, Wally

OK...so I got my Motorcycle Larry Ram Mount Resevoir Cover today. I put it on the LEFT side and liked the way it sat above the Audio Controller, but it also exposed 1/3 of the back of the GPS (which is where the external speaker is located), so I decided to move it to the right. The left cover came off very easily and I noticed a plastic cover that I assume prevents spillage...so anyway, I decide to move it to the RIGHT side to see if it fits better and when I take the screws out...you guessed it...the white plastic cover came off and CLUTCH FLUID spilled out of the reservoir onto the garage floor. LUCKILY I had the steering column straight instead of cocked and the fluid fell straight to the floor. I assume if any gets on paint it will strip it correct? Again, although DUMB...I was lucky that none got on anything except a drop or two on the VERY bottom of the chrome kickstand (wiped off with wet cloth and then dried). What I need to know is...since I have never messed with the brakes on ANY bike I have ever owned...what kind of CLUTCH FLUID do I use (do I need to go to the Yamaha place)...and HOW MUCH do I put in... Thanks for helping the DUMBA$$ out. Wally

I just got a used voyager kit. It has everything with it I guess. The have a couple of question: 1 - Where the belly plate connects to the floor board. I have been trying to remove the bolt but it just won't let go. How should I go about removing this stubborn bolt? 2 - That same bolt at the floor board will require to be longer I assume (not included with the used kit). What should the replacement bolt be? Since I can't take off I can't verify the size. I would assume it is metric. Anyone has a size for that? Thanks

I need the size of the 2 bolts that hold the back seat on. Tore the bike down to trailer it for our camping trip and forgot to put them in the bag with the other screws/parts etc (Stupid..Stupid..Stupid). Anyway I have gone to Home Depot here twice to find an appropriate bolt and both times I was wrong. I assume it is a metric size thread and it is not 7mm which I tried. Help would be GREATLY appreciated.... Yours truly The Idiot... :bang head:

Seriously, I actually have a dead bug in my speedo. (See pic) Have no idea how it got there and I am not quite sure how to remove it. I assume I have to take the windshield off and the black cover off the gauges but now I get lost.

Quick Question, maybe
matt73ander posted a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I just got an 83 venture yesterday. so far after buring up the gas that was in and filling with 91 octane i got about 115 miles on this tank and the fuel is at the last bar. Its been missing and backfiring a little so i'm assume the carbs need a good cleaning and make sure they are all in sync. real question is about how far should you be able to get on a tank.- 16 replies
