Okay, I like to get out of dodge on memorial day weekend. I am in east central Illinois. Looking at a destination 500 to 600 miles out for a $100 hamburger, yes I am a pilot to. Was thinking about ft rucker Alabama to take in the army air museum, anybody know of anything better. Other thing to cross my mind is riding part of natchez trace. So Sing Along. US Coast Guard: We're always ready for the call, We place our trust in Thee. Through surf and storm and howling gale, High shall our purpose be. "Semper Paratus" is our guide, Our fame, our glory, too. To fight to save or fight and die, Aye! Coast Guard we are for you! US Air Force: Off we go into the wild blue yonder, Climbing high into the sun; Here they come zooming to meet our thunder, At 'em boys, Give 'er the gun! (Give 'er the gun now!) Down we dive, spouting our flame from under, Off with one helluva roar! We live in fame or go down in flame. Hey! Nothing'll stop the U.S. Air Force! US Navy: Anchors Aweigh, my boys, Anchors Aweigh. Farewell to college joys, we sail at break of day-ay-ay-ay. Through our last night on shore, drink to the foam, Until we meet once more. Here's wishing you a happy voyage home. US Marines: From the Halls of Montezuma To the shores of Tripoli We fight our country's battles On the land as on the sea. First to fight for right and freedom And to keep our honor clean; We are proud to claim the title Of United States Marines. US Army: First to fight for the right, And to build the Nation’s might, And The Army Goes Rolling Along. Proud of all we have done, Fighting till the battle’s won, And the Army Goes Rolling Along. Then it’s hi hi, hey! The Army’s on its way. Count off the cadence loud and strong For where’er we go, You will always know That The Army Goes Rolling Along.

When riding in the rain, it seems that on the 1st Gen, it was mostly the crotch of the jeans that got soaked. On a second gen without the wind blockers, the knee is the wettest. The Army has a saying, "If it ain't raining, then it ain't training." If we accept that and it's corollary as being true, then this four day bike ride has been an intense field training exercise. The Army has a neat system that allows you to track friendly vehicles in your area. The GPS on a motorcycle works the same way. That icon represents the friendly unit. Everybody else is out to get you. When it is raining and you stop at a hotel for the night, junk from the vending machine is almost as good as a fine meal you would have to ride to.

Boy this is the toughest thing I have ever went through, my baby went to the Army a couple weeks ago. I am missing him so badly. How do those of you who have went through this get through it?? I am a mess thinking about him. He is in Ft Benning Army Airborn Infantry. He had been in the junior soldier program and worked to obtain E3 before leaving for bootcamp. I went from having my baby, my son at home to having an empty room. I have had custody of my boys since they were 1 and 2 without a Mother in the picture. When my oldest graduated, entered the workforce and moved on it was tough, but he is still here in town which makes it easier. With my youngest it was like one day here, next day gone. I am sure he is fine. But I have always been there to make sure they were ok. Now I have to trust in my heart things are ok. Nights seem to be the hardest to get through still. I know it wil get easier as time goes by. Prolly just was wanting to vent a little. Thanks for listening to lonely Dad..... Back to your regularly scheduled programming

Last week I was doing a job at Ft Knox, Kentucky. I was shocked to see visible proof of a Canadian plot to undermine the US Army. Not sure which traitor has allowed them to sell Tim Horton's on a US base instead of Dunkin Donuts like we all know God intended.

The following is a news article from the Hinesville Ga coastal courier. The incident happened Wednesday night about 9;30. The Army hasn't released any more info at this time, and are being very tight lipped about the whole investigation. Here's the link to the paper, but it doesn't have any other info at this time. http://www.coastalcourier.com/ div#widgetid_8491 { display: none; } A 3rd Infantry Division soldier died Wednesday night from an apparent stabbing just hours after redeploying from Iraq. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin. Army criminal investigators believe the stabbing may have resulted from a “domestic incident,” according to an e-mail from Fort Stewart Public Affairs. “The soldier was seen bleeding and in distress near his barracks building around 9:30 p.m. (Wednesday) by a commercial delivery person who immediately called Fort Stewart police,” Fort Stewart spokesman Kevin Larson said. “Fort Stewart Emergency Medical Services responded quickly and took the soldier to Winn Army Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.” The soldier had returned to Fort Stewart from a year-long deployment about 18 hours before the stabbing, Larson said. The U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command is investigating the death, he said. “The soldier’s name will be released as soon as next of kin notification is complete,” Larson said. Groups ranging from 145-350 soldiers from the 1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team were welcomed home on Fort Stewart’s Cottrell Field earlier this week and more are expected to redeploy here this weekend. We never had a chance to say thank you to this gentleman. Please think about him for a moment during the holidays. I'll keep y'all posted as they release info.

Well i guess i will start with some good news some of you may have read a few weeks ago my better half had fallen on some ice and broke her ankle. after i posted this story on here about the accident and her not having insureance you guys gave me some great advice and after alot of red tape and paper work we found the right program for us to resolve this problem.. 2 weeks ago during some intence training for the national guard getting ready for my up-coming deployment i tore my rotator cuff so now we are both kinda leaning on each other just to make diner (not that i mind) i love being close to her. but the bad news is im 3 years from retireing from the army... this may make it sooner if i cant get this fixed to "army standard" and im getting those feelings of letting my soldiers down i dont think im going to be able to deploy with them due to this injury. My doc says the recovery time and theropy is about a 9 month progress but as of now im non-deployable... so thats how my year has started off hope everyone else's is going better. Ron P.S. Yammer Dan I told Kelli what you said about doing what the doctor said or YOU would be coming after her.. she said ok and sat on the couch and propped up her ankle lol she dont listen to me like that?????

In 1919 the Army sent a convoy from Washington D.C. to California. There is a group retracing the route. More information can be found here: http://www.army.mil/convoy/. I wish I was close enough to see this and that I had found out about it sooner.

What a joy to wake up and see snow pouring down and actually sticking to the ground this morning. We had several inches across southern Louisiana and Mississippi. School was called off because people don't know how to drive in it here. A friend was driving to Florida today and had to turn back because the interstate was closed down about 40 miles from here due to the snow and then an ice storm. I have lived in Louisiana all of my life (55 this month) except 3 years in the army and probably have not seen snow here 10 times. It did snow a lot the year I was sweating in Viet Nam. My wife made me a snowman and froze it in the freezer until I got home. It was ice then. Glad it doesn't happen often but it is fun once in a while. About half of it has melted now. It is supposed to be back in the 70's by Sunday. What weather we have here. Lyle
