Federal law enforcement spokesman used the term "The suspect was armed with a vehicle" to justify a shooting and killing of a woman in California. The use of the term "armed" is what caught my eye. http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/09/30/14161155-family-demands-answers-in-fatal-shooting-of-woman-in-car-by-border-patrol-agent?lite=obinsite

I read the old threads and have looked at Rivco's product, just can't part with the $300+. Anyone out there have a center stand they can part with or know of someone that is looking to get rid of one? Thanks Also Semper FI to all other military veterans out there. Happy Armed Forces Day. Mongo

I have an idea. I was at my father in-laws house and he has a car license plate from all 50 states hanging on a wall in his garage. I thought I would like a collection of license plates too, but of the more difficult to find motorcycle plates. So here is my thought, if people could send me a box of about 100 motorcycle license plates from their home state that they can find, I would re-box and send out a box with all 50 states, the district of Columbia, and one or more foreign country plates that I receive from those that don't live in the US. (If you live out of the US please try to include one bonus car plate for my Father in-law) IF and ONLY IF I were to receive all those plates from other members. You might get shorted a few plates... (you may not get all 50 states) I apologize in advance. So your goal should be to send me 100 or more plates........... Oh and everyone would have to include return postage and a few dollars for my time. I am NOT going to get rich on this but it does seem like a huge time consumer.... Now this would be restricted to the first person from each state, territory or country to sign up on this thread with their promise to collect up and send me the plates from their state/territory or country as applicable.... I looked up in the members list to see how many people we have in each state, and I could not find anyone who lives in Hawaii and sense I travel there for work from time to time I figured I would collect up some Hawaii plates. I currently have 17 Hawaii plates in fair to poor condition one of which would be mine. I learned that in Hawaii the plate stays with the vehicle for it's life no matter who owns it... so plates are harder to come by and there is only one salvage yard that deals with motorcycles in Hawaii, so I bought all the plates he could supply. He promised to save all the plates he can from bikes that he is scrapping out. Not everyone will get plates from all states, as I may not be able to get enough Hawaii plates and Alaska may be difficult to collect up....... DC might be difficult too. I would also have to impose some random time limit too.... but I will have to see how things pan out. I don't think I will have 51 Hawaiian plates in under one year from today so someone may get shortchanged. so if you participate, don't complain...... So what do you think??? I will update this post with participants........... I have times when I don't visit the forum so there may be some stretches when I don't update this list.......... Oh, and I get first pick of the plates and I will NOT entertain special requests for plates. Any excess plates will be disposed of in a manner yet to be determine of my choice. Maybe I'll have a random drawing or something, but that is way down the road. this post will contain all rules and they may change at my decision. Also sense they have put up with me, csogbk has first dibs at MD, and Riderduke has first dibs at VA..... IF they want to collect the plates. NO stolen plates. You should go to a salvage yard to buy plates or ask your local DMV to collect them for you. OR if it is legal, you might "dumpster dive" at the DMV for plates. Some plates may be damaged, broken, burnt, etc as they may come from a salvage yard, so don't complain if you get a damaged plate. All plates must be cleaned with soap and water before shipping to me. I don't want MrsSquid mad at me for bringing dirt into SquidAcres. Our forum administrator, IIRC is freebird, cannot participate in the swap as he gets a free set as he puts up with all of us. Here is a list of participants in state/territory/country order: ALABAMA ALASKA ARIZONA ARKANSAS CALIFORNIA COLORADO CONNECTICUT DELAWARE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA FLORIDA GEORGIA HAWAII KiteSquid IDAHO ILLINOIS INDIANA IOWA KANSAS KENTUCKY LOUISIANA MAINE MARYLAND MASSACHUSETTS MICHIGAN MINNESOTA MISSISSIPPI MISSOURI MONTANA NEBRASKA NEVADA NEW HAMPSHIRE NEW JERSEY NEW MEXICO NEW YORK NORTH CAROLINA NORTH DAKOTA OHIO OKLAHOMA OREGON PENNSYLVANIA RHODE ISLAND SOUTH CAROLINA SOUTH DAKOTA TENNESSEE TEXAS UTAH VERMONT VIRGINIA WASHINGTON WEST VIRGINIA WISCONSIN WYOMING US Territories (May not have plates but one can hope) VIRGIN ISLANDS PALAU GUAM NORTHERN MARIANA ISLANDS PUERTO RICO MARSHALL ISLANDS FEDERATED STATES OF MICRONESIA AMERICAN SAMOA Military areas (From the US Postal Service website) (may not have plates) Armed Forces Africa Armed Forces Americas (except Canada) Armed Forces Canada Armed Forces Europe Armed Forces Middle East Armed Forces Pacific Foreign Countries (List from the US Department of State Website) (Don't think we will get many but I do hope someone chimes in from at least 5% of them) and if we get participants from separate states/provinces that would be OK too. Afghanistan Albania Algeria Andorra Angola Antigua and Barbuda Argentina Armenia Australia Austria Azerbaijan Bahamas, The Bahrain Bangladesh Barbados Belarus Belgium Belize Benin Bhutan Bolivia Bosnia and Herzegovina Botswana Brazil Brunei Bulgaria Burkina Faso Burma Burundi Cambodia Cameroon Canada The ten provinces are Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Saskatchewan, while the three territories are Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and Yukon. Tomorrow we get to ride in honor in of the fallen soldiers. It is a wonderful way to remember those that are willing to place themselves (and their families) between us and those that wish to do us harm. Thank you to all who have or are now serving in the armed forces. Anyone local that would like to join us but didn't know about this event, please come out. http://www.rideforthefallen.us Dave
