Found the proverbial oil puddle under the shock. This will be the second shock I have replaced on this bike and haven't even hit 50,000 miles. Anyway, has anyone ever used a shock off a RSTD pre 1999? I see that these are not air shocks. Or, does anyone have one that came off an RSV and is in good working order that they would want to sell? Can't afford a new one or a Works shock. I have been watching ebay and the only one so far that comes up is used for $399. You can get a new one for another $60 including shipping. Thanks in advance for any help. Charles

Illinois, east bound I-74 mile markers 154, 155. About 2:35 P.M. dark blue 1st Gen MK II. We were in the cage, on our way home from Omaha to Indy. Had to drive the car because of a tight schelule, could not afford weather delays, etc. The fog for about 100 miles leaving Omaha was terrible, was actually glad to be in the car. If this mystery rider is a member here, let us know.

Back in my yoot I used to work part time in a discount membership store in the sporting goods dept. Kinda like White Front.. K-Mart.. Fedco.. etc. Anyway we used to sell firearms and one of the rifles we stocked was a Mannlicher Schonauer. I fell in love with that rifle. Just married, kid on the way, and working two jobs 80 hours a week to make ends meet, and I just couldn't afford one. Slow forward 50 years... In the last few years I'd run into one or two at auction, but they went for big bucks. Finally nailed one down last week. She's a beauty and I can't wait to get'r home.... It's in DOJ limbo for another 7 days. Next monday..

All, gas prices being what they are, I am riding to work every day I possibly can. Problem is I have to wear business attire at my job. Any advice on how to pack a days worth of dress clothes so it wont look like it came out of the hamper when I get to work? My ride is 30 mins or so. I can't afford a custom riding suit so thats not an option. I ride in chaps and can only imagine what my slacks would look like after a ride in those. Thanks for any advice or experiences!

Went for a 10 mile ride today. Was nice to get out and do a little, not much but some riding. Found out I need some fork oil. Or get some progressive springs when i can afford it. Hope everyone else got out for a few miles.

I've been casually interested in the Stratoliners for a while now. Once in a while I'll do a search on Ebay. This morning this show'd up STRATOLINER. It's located about a mile away so I went over to look at it. It's clean..flawless.., but when I looked at the ignition key area it was grubbier than all get out. Touched it with my finger and it came back black with oil... or road grime?? But that was it for the whole bike. Otherwise with 17K on it, it's still like new, and so far the bidding on the big E is at $7100, which is about trade-in value. I really don't know what to do. Do I say screw it, and if I'm going to buy anything, make it an early 2-Venture which comes with a lot more accessories?? I'll never be able to afford a new RSV. I do like the Strat's styling..and for me it sits good. One thing that bothers me is of the strats I've seen for sale... 2006's mostly... are all low milers. A bunch at 3-4,000 miles. Some a little more, and some a little less. Is the bike that bad of a road machine that they're all garage queens??? I donno, I'd hate to buy a pig in a poke. Yeah I know... I'm a wuss...

Anybody ever use one of these. Boss took my Nuvi 350 so I thought I'd go ahead and try the upgrade. It's a little larger and has blue tooth capabilities. It also looks like you can use way points to choose your route, something I couldn't do on the other. I can't afford the motorcycle version.

I would like your opinions on this. Our local riding group is having a 20th anniversary rally the first week in Aug. They have arranged for food and lodging at a Junior College and have set the registration at $199.00 per person ($398.00 for me and the wife). I asked what the cost would be without the lodging as we have a cabin nearby. The response I received was that the rally price is all inclusive and "the entire cost of the event is minimal, to the extreme, which permits just about anyone who can afford to ride a motorcycle, afford this event" Maybe I should sell the bike?

I had one just like her. I bought it new off the showroom floor for $1995 in 79. Sold it when I found mamamo in 81. I couldn't afford them both so had to let one go. A man does some strange things at times.I bought my 84 venture 24 years later.
