First we were hit with TS Beryl and we lost our cat, Dragon, in it. Now, here comes Debby and the B**** dropped 12" of rain on the area so far. My little neck of the woods is doing good so far but most of the town is a mess with downed trees and major flooding. Parts of I-10 are closed. Last night there were at least 3 hydroplaning accidents on I-10 alone, all within a 3 mile space. So far we still have power.....what, you thought I was pedaling a stationary bike to power up the computer?????

A 60 year old man from Louisiana on a Honda ran off a right turn and plunged to his death. Thats all the info I could find besides his name. Fatal accidents on the road are surprisingly rare, here a map that shows the history of fatalities http://www.tailofthedragon.com/maps/...ths.pdf:frown:

It seems most states are considering medical pot and a few legalization. I am not a future customer because I have enough trouble remembering where my keys are and I never want to listen to the Beatles White album again. I have been in public safety for 30+ years and honestly, after going to 1000's of medical calls, I cannot remember a single call as a result of marijuana usage. Although I have gone to vehicle accidents with pot involved, trust me though... nothing causes as many accidents as cell phones and texting. We go to calls every day for all other sorts of drugs including alcohol. We have a very big prison here and I would estimate 20% of the inmates were incarcerated for a 2nd or more pot offense. It seems to me not all these people need to be in prison. What do you think http://shellgames.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/old_hippie_very_old_hippies_1.jpg

Lots of scoots out in Ontario yesterday. I talked to a nurse at the local hospital last night. She said there seemed to be a constant flow of motorcycle accidents yesterday. One common denominator was sliding on sand left on the streets and intersections from winter. It's warm, but it's not normal riding conditions yet. Rip

Well I guess I have some thinking to do. Especially this year we have had so many accidents and lost so many that my will to ride has been kind ot shot right now. Ive rode once in the last 10 weeks and the last time was a month ago. Ive already started clearing the garage. The 1007 Honda shadow 1100 ACE that I customized will be on Ebay starting tomorrow and honestly im really thinking of putting the RSV up and selling it. Jebbles has spoken a few times of wanting to find a 1960s Mustang to restore or just get one ready to ride. Really been on my mind. Besides Ive been filling the time that I used to ride with fishing and playing with my 21" Mako. How can you get enthuiastic about riding if all you see are friends getting hurt. Now with GaryN and Leslie we have another seriously hurt and One gone to be with the Father. Makes me wonder how long before its me. With all the unlicensed Illegals and people who are in so much of hurry they just dont care how long before its mu turn? I live in an area that once was a small farm area and now every weekend we get the Cityiots (N Y City idiots) come out here to practice driving and I alone have had may close calls this summer alone. Im no really sure what to do yet but Ill let you know. Any interest in the RSV?

...take the winter and buy some good protective riding gear! Those of you who ride in jeans, T-shirt and a half helmet may want to rethink your riding attire. The amount of accidents posted here is disturbing. I'm not saying gear would have helped prevent any of them but proper gear may have lessened injuries. Some are spending a lot of time blaming others for accidents and are looking to devices to add, petitions to sign but are we doing everything WE can do to minimize our injuries? Just cause it isn't a race bike doesn't mean we shouldn't wear good protective clothing & gear. New Enough has some good stuff or visit your local dealer and support his efforts.
