I experienced electrical gremlins last fall on my 1990 Royale. Strange behaviors. Too intermittent to diagnose specifically, but there seemed to be some relationship to the ignition switch and/or the "IGNITION" fused circuit. I know that ignition switch problems are not very frequent on First Generation Ventures, unlike the Second Gens, never the less I felt I may be having an issue with mine. So to cure possible problems with IGNITION fuse and the ignition switch, I replaced the OEM fuse block with a new fuse block that accepts ATC fuses and I added an "ACCESSORIES" auxiliary block. This auxiliary accessories fuse block is only energized when ignition switch is at ACC or ON. To prevent excessive current draw through the ignition switch, I fed the auxiliary accessories block via a 30Amp relay and 10GAuge wire. When the OEM ACC circuit is energized by the ignition switch, the relay is energized, closing the circuit from the battery to the positive lug post on the auxiliary accessories fuse block. To avoid grounding issues for added accessories, I created a common grounding terminal strip. This terminal strip is connected to the negative post of the battery with a short length of 10GA wire. The terminals on the terminal strip are electrically connected to each other with a heavy brass buss. The fuse blocks and terminal strip are mounted to the unvented maintenance free battery with double face foam "Gorilla" tape. The battery top presented a smooth surface for mounting via tape. This method probably wouldn't work for conventional batteries. I relocated the MAIN fuse to just in front of the Positive battery post. I relocated the CLASS fuse holder to under the other OEM fuse block that contains the AUDIO, BACKUP,etc. fuses for now, but I intend to utilize the remaining fuse position on the new "main fuse block" for the CLASS. Thank you, Earl for the fuse block.

Does anyone know of a touch up paint or spray that matches the gold color in the 1 inch square emblem that is on many accessories items like on the chrome calipar covers or on the rear trunk rack. It will also have 1200 or 1300 on it also.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a site or forum that tells which parts and accessories are interchangable between motorcycle models? Such as what Harley parts fit the RSTD or Venture. I know some parts/ accessories in the Yamaha line fit each other. It would be a big help if this info were in one place. If anyone has mixed or matched parts please let us know. Thanks

I currently own an 89 VR and am very happy with it. I really thought this VR would take me into the sunset for it only has 26,500 miles on it. Then I found a 91 VR with only 6700 miles from the origional owner. I just couldn't pass it up. So I purchased it and plan on transfering all my accessories from the 89 to the 91 and plan on selling the 89 probably spring of 2012 for it will take some time to move all the accessories over. But for the right reasons I could keep both VRs but then that would mean 2 licenses fee, 2 insurance, that is if I plan on riding both. But I do not see why for the 2 are the same bike. I do see many of you have multi MKIs or multi MKIIs, and so I'm courious as to the following questions: 1) Why do you have two of the same make and model and sometimes the same year. 2) What made you initially decide to pick up the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and so on VR. 3) Does all of your VRs acturally run Some answers could be the following 1) Have too much money 2) Picked up the other VR as a parts bike then decided to fix it up. 3) Because they are old and consider Collectables. 4) Only one of my VR runs all the others are parts bike. Please do not limit to the above reasons. Thanks

Click on this link from Competition Accessories (news review) http://blog.compacc.com/2011/08/michelin-commander-2-tires-preview/ Competition accessories is starting to sell the Michelin Commander 2 (I think). But not our size yet. The link above is an article that has pictures and describes the new tread design and extended mileage claims. Michelin is pretty happy but I like the old design. Says they will come in 15 sizes. For the front, it does not include our stock size (150/80/16) but does carry the "small front", 130/90/16. Rear, they do have our 150/90/15. This link is the sales page on what they do have now (not our size): http://www.compacc.com/Michelin-Commander-2-Motorcycle-Tires http://blog.compacc.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/IMG00184-20110810-15161.jpg

We just got our RSV last weekend and I was getting a tad frustrated at the lack of accessories for the bike compared to others. I searched and searched and searched on here, asked some questions and, lo and behold, I had answers to just about anything and everything I wanted to know!! I'm still a tad frustrated at the lack of accessories for this bike compared to, say, a Harley , which everyone seems to make accessories for, but that's just the way it is and I love our new bike. So This board is wonderful!!!! Thank you to every single one of your for sharing your help, your experiences, your knowledge and your time with me and everyone else!!

Hey there VentureWingers. I've got two different types of risers for passenger floorboards for the wing for sale. We tried a number of combinations before we found what worked best for my wife. Both items are in "as new" condition and are considerably less than new cost. They are listed in the "Accessories for all bikes" category (Maybe we need a GW accessories section?). Anyway, if you're looking for something to help make your better half more comfortable, here's a couple options for you! If nobody here is interested in a few days I'll post 'em on a GW site, but thought I'd give my Venturerider buddies first shot. Dwayne

I have an 89 VR and there is a little round, dome, red light on my faring, just to the right of the Cassette cover near the open vents that are around the handlebar. Can someone tell me what it is for. It is the size of maybe the diameter of a 10 gage wire. The Venture is a standard VR so there are no add on accessories. I checked the manuel with no luck.

Hey All, for a bit I have had my RSV listed and paying attention to the ones that has sold. I just looked today at the four second generations that have not sold, and all have at least 40k + in miles. All four are a very good price, lots of accessories, too me, they all should have sold already. Which leads me to this question: You guys feel that a RSV with 40k+ miles really scares someone to buy ? Just Wondering, Later-

I've added a Jake Wilson banner into the rotation at the top right of the page. I kept hearing this place pop up in the forum here and finally placed an order through them myself a while back. They seem to be a great company to deal with and their prices on tires and other accessories appear to be about as good as any. The site will make a small percentage if you use that link when going to their site to make your purchases. I know that several of you use them already and this makes it easy for folks to find them.
