Here is what a Volusia 800 sounds like through the various stages of being DeBaffled and then putting in Diamond Jim's Fibrosleeve Mod. I think it's a great sound for about $15.00 worth of material. Thank you SaltyDawg for making my ride sound so much better!! I just bought my new 2007 Venture on June 3rd. I have only 800 miles on it and love it! I previously had a 1998 Harley Electra Glide I put 87,000 miles on it before I sold it, the only problem I EVER had was a bad starter clutch at 15,000 miles. I'm starting to get a little concerned as I read about the multitude of problems posted in the forum and I'm hoping that I didn't make a mistake buying the Venture. I have always liked Yamaha products i.e. atv's, dirt bikes. My first bike was a 1000 Virago. I liked the way the Venture looked and I couldn't bring myself to pay $20,000 for a new Harley. Now at only 800 miles my Venture is in for the dreaded "rear end clicking" and head gasket leak(not leaking yet, want to have the head bolts tightened). I have been dealing with the same dealership (Pete's Cycle Co. in Baltimore) for over 20years now and they have never let me down so I'm not concerned about their ability, but you can't blame them if a bike is poorly engineered. When I walked in the service department and started describing my 2 problems I didn't even get to finish, the service manager said "we know about the problems". He even showed me copies of the technical service bullitens. I don't mean to sound needy but can someone convince me, honestly, that I made the right choice? Keeping my fingers crossed, but it's hard to ride like that.

So the big question is how far have you ridden in one day? In my youth (almost 30 years ago) I did a cross country ride averaging 500 miles a day on a Kawasaki 400. Crazy I know but I was just a kid of 19. Saturday I did my personal best with 800 miles in a single day on an 83 Venture. The weather man warned that Saturday would be nice but Sunday we would have our first Snow of the season in Denver, CO so I planned to ride on Saturday. When I woke at 4:00am I decided to get an early start and ended up at Mt Rushmore by about noon then back home. Great ride on a very comfortable bike. 800 miles three states and four dead presidents all in one day while staying just hours ahead of a snow storm, now that is a great day.

seat suggestions,please...
f6ryder posted a topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I got rid of my '02 wing just to try something different,my wife rides a '02 silverado so I bought a '06 RSTD.I could ride 800 miles on my wing with no problems,it had the stock seat with a Utopia back rest.I ride 10 miles on the RSTD and when I get off my tailbone hurts,I mean HURTS.After 800 miles in 6 weeks I had to take 3 weeks off of riding 'cause my back hurt so bad.Yes,I dont have the best back in the world, but I could ride my wing forever and I was OK.I'm 6'3 weigh 235,will a Utopia or other seat help,or am I wasting my time and should I go back to a Wing?I'm trying to like this thing, but I feel like I got out of a 2006 caddy and got into a 1965 VW beetle.Advice is appreciated, would a Road Star be more comfortable? Thanks...
