Greetings and commiseratons to all you northern-hemisphere type people.
At 5:47pm my time today (less than 5 hours ago) I was still outside in the yard doing things around the house. Didn't come inside until 8pm (just over 2 hours ago) when it was still daylight.
Yep - today was the summer solstice for me.
Sunrise was at 5:55am and sunset was 8:11pm.
A whole 14 hours and 16 minutes of daylight.
So where does the 5:47pm become significant?
That's when old mother Earth went to the maximum on the old axis tilt and now she's heading back the other way.
(You know - I swear I felt that slight hesitation, right at that time!)
Now the days will be getting shorter for me, and getting longer for you.
We had a fairly cool day today. It only got to 32degC (90degF).
In six months time it'll be your turn for maximum daylight.
