Today when I fired up the bike it started acting funny it idles fine if i rev it the tach and engine will rise to about 2500 rpm just past 2500 the tachometer drops to 0 and it starts to hesitate. when I ride it it does the same thing it gets to 2500 the tach drops and it will still accel but isnt all there "here is where it gets wierd" if you hold throttle and keep accelerating once the engine gets to about 4500 rpm the tach comes back to life and holy sh*t you better be holding on, because its just runs like a champ till get back into that range. Has anyone ever had this issue before. I am almost certain it is an electric issue. -
getting miss narrowed down

I've got my low speed miss narrowed down to this; idles good, slowly take the throttle up and miss gets real noticeable at about 2000 rpm and at 2500 [by the tach] it clears right up and is gone. By pulling plug wires one at a time and grounding an old plug in the wire I found that cyls.. #1 and #3 both lost spark at 2000 and came back at 2500. Any ideas on this? -
I've got an '83 that seems to run great when cold, but once it warms up it seems to drop a cyl.until you hit about 2500, then runs good, it seems to idle fine too. I've replaced the plugs and diaphragms. years ago I had a similar problem [i think] and it had a bad diaphragm. stumped now,think it might be valve adj? or electrical? If I just rev it up it sounds good, but on the road it doesn't matter how much I wash it, it looks like dung under 2500

I am using Amsol Synthetic oil. What is the max miles I should travel between oil changes. I have put on 2000 miles since the last change, but I am heading out on a 2500 mile trip in a couple of weeks. Should I change the oil before my trip?

Stopped at a local dealer today and was asking about the new Max. Salesman said only 2500 will be made, and if you want one it has to be ordered with a deposit. Said there will be none sitting on the showroom floor. Aslo, they, this dealer, are putting a fairing and hard bags on the new Road Stars. Said they are the only ones doing that that they know of. Sure gives it a different look. Bags don't look like they will hold much, kinda narrow. Fairing kinda looks like a Harley bat-wing type, except the light is real low in the fairing. BTW, wife and I actually rode about 30 miles yesterday!!!! Don H.

went by my dealer the other day and he is going to get one new vmax with my name on it. no wait. he wanted to put my name on it. think i'm going to have to pass on that one. did get a brochure with all the specs. only going to make 2500. thats the plan so far. think it's strictly a test bed for the new venture motor. the max has possibilities, but it won't hold a candle to my zx14 for looks or performance. not to mention over $18,000 dollars. won't be any aftermarket stuff available for just 2500 bikes. the exaust would have to go. it's butt ugly.almost tops my warriors stock exaust. looks heavy, and for performance shaft drive is'nt the ticket.

I was thinking of getting a trailer to store my 85 VR in and trailer it down to Morro Bay ca this summer. Has anyone had any experience with the continental Cargo enclosed trailer? I was looking at the 6 ft by 10 ft model with the extra 6 inches of height. and a guy is town has one about a year old for about 2500 cdn I think these were about 4000 new around here. Is anyone aware of any issues with these trailers? Thanks for any input anyone may have, Brian :cool10:

The 87 idles good till it gets up to operating temp. Then in traffic the idle climbs to 2000, 2500, even up to 3 grand if I'm in traffic long! Any ideas?
