As most Know, I decided to sell the 86 VR to buy a bike that had a lower seat height. I found a 00 Royal Star in good shape in Austin and went to pick it up yesterday. (missed the Maint Day in Houston). It has plenty of power and is in excellent shape. BUT. I can feel every ridge and bump in the freeway. Maybe I was spoiled with the CLAS on the VR, But I can seen why this guy said he had back problems. It has Avon tires on it, so that may be part of it. I noticed very little rear suspension travel and felt like it may have bottomed out a time or two. Now the prior owner was 6' 3" and about 250, but I am only 190, so what's up>

OK folks, I have place the order for the domed decals. They will be the same size as the small patches, approximately 2.75" tall x 3.5" wide. They have already sent me a digital proof of the design and I have approved it. They have been shipped to me so I should have them soon and then be able to get them out to you pretty quickly. These are NOT just regular flat decals. They printed on a metallic silver vinyl so that the silver text and scroll work will have a metallic, somewhat chrome look. They are then domed with a clear poly that gives them somewhat of a 3D look. They will look great on the trunk of the bikes, your auto window, wherever you wish to use them. I'll post pictures as soon as I get them but I'm taking orders now to try and recoup some of my upfront costs. They are designed for outdoor use. I ordered 250 decals this time. If we end up needing more than that, I can order more later. I think these are going to be really sharp looking. I don't know WHEN I will be able to order more though. The price break came at 250 so if we are only 50, 100, etc. short...I will not order again until I think that there is demand for at least a couple of hundred. So...you can start ordering whenever you like. They will be $4.00 each and that includes shipping within in the USA or $4.50 each shipped to Canada. Payable via PayPal to dk_nelson@verizon.net NOTE there is an underscore between the dk and nelson. PLEASE make sure that you include your mailing address in your PayPal payment.

Does anyone have or have knowledge of the Royal Enfield line. I had a thumper (Meguro made by Kawasaki) in the 60s that I bought from a serviceman. It was a 250 and really could climb a hill. Also I had a 441 BSA that was a screamer for torque. I have been thinking of another.

This weekend was two years since my son, wife and I took the motorcycle safety coarse and getting hooked on riding. We all started right away after buying a virago 250 to gain practice. Then I moved up to a vstar 1100 custom and my son an R6. The wife stayed with the 250 till this last xmas when I found a good deal on my 05 RSV. She now rides the 1100 or rides two up. I met up with her today at her job and we rode home, beautiful day here in Texas. I have enjoyed joining this group after I got the Venture and have learned a great deal from everyone. Looking forward to many more years of VENTURERIDERS events. Just wanted to say that learning to ride and buying my Venture and has been the best. See you down the rode. THANKS

My youngest son is 16 so we bought a ninja 250. It is a 2001 with 2500 miles on it owned by an old guy who'd bought it for his wife but she didn't ride it. I figured it would be a good learner bike for him. I test rode it yesterday and will pick it up on Wd. After putting miles on the Venture, a 250 makes me giggle. I am thinking that a 16 year old that has only moped experience but doesn't know how to shift yet, it will be just what we want. It is cute and hopefully he can't get into too much trouble. And WOW, love that green color. Iowa Guy

Hey All, Has any one used the Nuvi 250 on there bike? A couple local box stores have the Nuvi 250 & 250W on sale for the same price ($179) I know it is not a waterproof GPS but figured I may use it on the Venture occasionally. My question is would the 250W be too big for the windscreen? or should I just get the regular Nuvi250? The Garmin Zumo 550 is quite a bit out of my $$ range.

RSV 2002 but with 2007 seats. My problem is I am too short and cannot see over or around my husband. Does anyone have any ideas to raise the passenger seat? Most of the advise I get is ride my own. I have been a passenger for over 30 years and just got my license this year. My little Honda 250 is just a get around. Maybe next year I will get my big bike. In the mean time, any ideas for raising the seat? This is my first post, so hope put it in the right forum!!! jj

I've got a friend who just bought a 1995 Virago 250. She didn't get an owners manual and, on her way home, someone rolled down their window and said that her chain was loose. Actually they said "Hey buddy, your chains loose" (thought that was cute). Does anyone know where I could download an owners manual or service manual for this bike or does anyone know the proper tightness for the chain?
