Cancelled!!

Got off work a little early to get ready for tomorrow. We have had so much rain you can watch my grass grow. Since I am not supposed to do any yard work for at least three weeks, I mowed again this afternoon. Got some other pressing things done and then went for a beautiful ride. It was about 72º and very clear. The mountains are soooo green. I am so anxious about getting this over with. The cataract in my left eye was not noticable until a couple of months ago. Now it is like looking thru Saran wrap, just like I have a thick film over that eye. I was originally scheduled for June 24th, which was a bit close to the Asheville event, but I lucked out when someone cancelled and I was able to move it up. I am so looking forward to being able to have clear vision again. And it will make it so much better riding at night as now any headlights amost blind me. RandyA

The motorcycle safety classes, put on by the MSF and Illinois State University, have started filling slots for this years courses. I'm a little late on this one, as a lot of them have been filled (the beginner ones anyways). I signed up for the experienced one in Springfield on the 24th of March with my dad and 3 others, so it should be a good time. If anyone is interested, you can find more info here.

If you have a house full of kids and grandkids over for christmas. You might want to step outside late at night or just before dawn. The red planet Mars is quite a sight this month and should peak on the 24th. It should be quite viewable through early January. I wish I had got into astronomy as a kid but my 9 year old son gives me a second chance.
