Got my 86 back from the shop today with a new-to-her motor, an 89 that incidently is in perfect condition. All four cylinders test to stock compression and better yet, this is one heck of a quiet running motor. Got her home and assembled all the other stuff and took it on a good long ride. Whoa, I am impressed; runs like new, smooth, lots of power, and clean. Love it. I've heard these motors are bullet proof. Well they aren't. The original motor developed either a piston slap or a wrist pin knock and rather that fix a motor that had well over 100k, even though the PO said 24K, I picked up this one from hessforless. I replaced a motor in an 83 by myself about 3 years back and I'll never take that on again. Anyway, I just wanted to share this great experience with all. Now I again have two great running, great looking sleds in the garage.
