The purpose of this ride was to test the 1stgen and the 2ndgen towing my bunkhouse camper.Here are the results. A.Standing start,bike 1 very noticable a trailer was behind me Standing start,bike2 less noticable a trailer was behind me B.Acceleration.bike 1sufficient power up the mountains. bike 2.about same as bike 1. C.Braking..bike 1,few scary moments going downhill bike 2 much more stable downhill D.Left turn at intersection.bike 1.Felt like trailer was trying to push the bike straight ahead. bike 2.felt like the bike was actually pulling the trailer through the turn. In conclusion Bike 1 will never tow the bunkhouse trailer again. Bike 1.1986 Venture Royale Bike 2.1999 RSV with sidecar. The above is "MY" opinions and "MY" observations.OH,by the way,the 1stgen got 31 MPG and the 2ndgen got 30MPG.

If you think you might be interested in a Fork Brace for your 1stGen, add your post to this thread. I just checked out the Superbrace site and was blown away by the retail price of their 1stGen braces. $143.95. WOW!! I just want to let 1stGen'rs know that I still have group buy fork braces left for $60 bucks. The price just keeps getting better as long as SB keeps raising theirs..... Is it too early to get the scoot ready for spring???

I realy enjoy reading and following 1stGen tech problems because I find them interesting. But..... it seems like this board is getting overwhelmed with 2ndGen tech posts. Have we.. 1stGens.. solved everything there is to solve?? Are the older 2ndGen's just getting started? Or are the 1stGens just built better? Being a pure 1stGen owner it's really getting boring around here lately....

Who in their right mind would spent this much money for a 1stGen tool kit. I keep seeing these things being listed on Ebay and it never ceases to amaze me what they sell for. Especially since you could probably build one with nicer tools for less.... TOOL KIT
