Hello all, Well my 1999 RSV trunk has finally blown apart. A couple of years ago the plastic around the two rear screws shattered, used some JB weld and put it back together. Well, you guessed it, the JB weld only last so long. Does anyone have one they want to get rid of? Or, a good source for one? new they are about $575, found one on ebay for $120. Also, wasn't there a "recall" from Yamaha and they added a steel plate on the bottom of the inside of the trunk? Thanks ahead of time.

Hi all, I'm posting this question because I haven't been able to find a previous discussion on the matter, but can't believe there hasent been one. So redirect if such a discussion exists. I'm trying to find out, outside of color changes, what changes if any have occured for the Royal Venture from 1999 to the current 2012. I understand there was a seat change in 2001. Is there a tech bulletin that describes all the minor changes throught those years? Thanks!

I am going to go and look at a 1999 Road Star 1600 it looks to be in nice shape from the pics I have seen, one owner 52,000 miles what are some things that I should be sure to check out on it. And what would be a fair price to pay or offer. Thanks Orlin

What I would like to know (before I change it) is Ethanediol antifreeze the same as Ethylene Glycol and would it therefore be suitable to use on my second gen 1999 Venture?

Hello. I just bought a used ignitor from Pinwall and it has two plugs (4XY-01). Mine has three plugs (4XY-00). Their ad says it came from a "2006 Yamaha Royal Star Venture XVZ1300TF". My bike is a 1999 XVZ13TF. I just want to get my ducks lined up before calling Pinwall, so I have two questions. 1. Is the ignitor located just in front of the battery on the 1999 RSV? In other words, am I actually looking at the correct part? 2. Can anyone tell me if this ignitor may have come from a first generation venture? It has 2 plugs vs. 3. Thanks. Tommy Howard

I have a chance at a 1999 Venture with 12,000 miles at a good price. Do any of you know of any bad news of the 99's? Thanks.

I want to thank all of the posters here who gave so much good advise (not to mention their time) answering a lot of rookie questions. I found a 1999 RSV in immaculate condition. I picked it up on Friday evening, and rode it home the next day. I put just over 610 miles on it Saturday. The Avons are nearly new, it has had a 100 percent service and fluids change, the rear end and splines have been serviced, and it came with a bunch of extras like a 1300lb floor jack. My ride home showed only 1 fault - the original saddle. I had tried out a 2003 with a pillow-top, and my fat a** liked it a lot better. If any one knows of someone who has purchased a Corbin or Mustang, and has a pillow-top unit taking up space in the garage, let me know what you want for it. At the same time, I know of a perfect stock 1999 model RSV seat if anyone's looking!!!

Well, wow, how does one part with ten years of great rides and memories?! A bittersweet moment in my life is about to take place. I am selling my 1999 RSV. It is time for a change. The Mrs. is not too happy, but she knows sometimes you just have to make some changes and move forward. I am flying out to Belton, MO this week to pick up a 2009.... oh god I can't believe I am going to write this.... HD Ultra Classic. Yeah, I know - hard to believe, even for me it is hard to believe, and then ride it back home - 11 hours on the road. The thing is this, I have been waiting, and waiting, and waiting for Yammie to update this bike. I want the modern "stuff" that HD puts on their bikes. I rode one a week ago, it felt smaller than our RSV's, and not quite as "robust", but it was smooth, lighter for "me" (I am small guy), and I liked all the modern gadgetry. Now I did not just get whatever the local Dealer had... I read, researched and looked for what "I" wanted - features and colors scheme. I still think the bikes are a tad over priced. If you want to see The Soon-to-be new ride I still have my 2006 Yam Stratoliner for my tootin round town fun. So let the chastising begin! So if ya know anyone looking for a very loaded, clean, well kept, pristine, 1999 RSV - send em my way! I put an ad here on VROrg and it is listed on CraigsList

We just bought this one last week. Traded in our 1999 Suzuki VL1500 on it. This is also the seat I want to replace as I think the back rest part is to steep for me as I am a big man. But anyway here it is. http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j256/Shinufu/100_0713.jpghttp://www.venturerider.org/forum/http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j256/Shinufu/100_0713.jpg

I have an '83 venture that runs ok when fed gas by gravity. I have no clicking at fuel pump when moving run switch off and on. Just pulled the bike in so I have no history except the plate has a 1999 reg sticker on it. How would I check the pump function? and advice is welcome. (new here, not new to fixing bikes) Mikel

Guy says his paperwork and registration say this bike is a 2001. Correct me if I'm wrong but, isn't this a 1999 color scheme? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2001-Yamaha-Royal-Venture-1300cc-Nice-touring-bike_W0QQitemZ180403323679QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_motorcycles?hash=item2a00e0431f&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245 The colors and position of the colors on the tank and trunk (light on bottom, Dark on top) seem to say 1999

I am going to look at purchasing a 1999 gray silver Venture with 35k miles what kind of tech things should I be looking for? Is there anything during a test ride I should be listening and looking for. The only other bike I owned was a 03 Volusia 1500 that I bought new so I really don't know what to look for in a used bike. Thanks
