Hmmmm..Hate for my first question to be a "stupid" one, but they SAY there's no such thing as a stupid question..I guess you'll have to be the judge..! Anyway; I just purchased a 1986 Yamaha Venture, and got my new plate. Went to change it out, and used the proper tool for removing the retaining screws/bolts, but all they do is turn, i.e. they don't come out. So; my problem is figuring out how to get to the backside so I can hold the nut or whatever is there while I unscrew from the front. I've tried removing luggage, etc., for access, but just can't figure it out..Perhaps the tail light has to be removed? Thanks for any assistance here!

Will a 1986 back rest fit on a 85 ?
-
Good morning all. My first post. I have purchased a 1986 venture royale that was sitting for years. It came complete with mouse nest and chewed wires. It had so much dirt and grime on it that I decided to strip it to the bones. I have every piece of plastic, faring, luggage, crome and electronic off it now and it is all cleaned up quite nicely. I am about to take care of the known issues which are spongy front brakes, almost no clutch pressure and a rear brake rotor replacement. I think I should check the valve clearances and will replace all the oils, spark plugs coolant ect. Is there any other specific things I should do or check while it is stripped. Head bearings, swing arm bearings feel good. Front fork seals are not leaking. Thanks in advance T

I just purchased a 1986 Venture Royale and it didn't come with headsets. Is there any out there still on the market? Or ideas to make something work?
-
Ok guys and gals thanks for the information on the intercom system, the problem was the headsets were not wired for Venture. While out riding today found a 1986 Venture Royale with everything but the kitchen sink. The bike has only 26000 miles on it has been sitting for about two years. Owner is asking $1100 is this a deal or what, I have a 1983 that I have to use for parts:mytruck1:

Hey guys, I broke my headlight while I was fitting new driving lamps and an HID unit. Does anyone have a spare headlight for a 1986 Venture Royale? Thanks

Here's something that might interest you. 1986 Royale for $2000. Obviously needs some work, but if your handy, why not. http://www.autotrader.ca/a/Yamaha/1300+ROYAL+VENTURE/LONDON/Ontario/5_10141503_ON20071122100019686/?ms=motorcycles_atvs Thomas

I recently purchased a 1986 Yamaha Venture, and am looking for a couple of things that it lacks from my previous Wing. Driver floorboards for one (with the heel / toe shifter) and a set of arm rests (folding if available) for the wife's seat. I've seen pics of bikes that have the boards, but am unable to locate any information on them. Granted, 25 years is too long for folks like Markland to keep stuff on their shelves, but if anyone has ANY information on MFG.'s or where to look, I'd appreciate it. A couple of other things I want to ask but hesitate since they will make me look REAL stupid. the cover on the left side of the fairing, over the radio, is that supposed to slide? Also, the previous owner has a baggie full of "intercom" equipment that is to be placed in our helmets. He never used them, and has no clue on how they work. Owners manual is also wrecked (ALL the pages are stuck together!) and I'm having no luck finding one on the web either. Any help will be appreciated! Tom Plaska

Go to Youtube - type in 1986 venture carbs. It's the video by jamkitful 1986 VR carburation problem REDUX Ok. Here's a link to the video of the problem with my bike... Dont know if anyone can glean anything from it but ??? I did all the previous tasks that everyone mentioned - tightened the airbox down, made sure there are no leaks, etc. etc. Still the bike runs extremely bad (almost like three cylinders). It wont take throttle (barely). It runs a little better on choke than off choke but still bogs down and eventually dies. I'm starting to think the guy that cleaned the carbs just missed or messed something up?? Either that or maybe it just needs synchronized (though I doubt that would make it runs this bad)? If anyone has any further ideas I can check before I sdend this thing to the scrap heap - I would be appreciative. Thanks again.

Does anyone know how many Venture Royales 1300's were built during the entire run from 1986 - 1993? Just curious!

Hello all, I have decided after some looking around... ok A LOT of looking around that I like this venture bike quite a bit. I am a technician by trade and understand most issues when encountered but I also know that every machine has it's own little quirks that can only be understood by owning and riding. I need to know what (if any) major issues to look for on the 1986 Royale 1300cc (2nd generation?)... at least that is how it's advertised... and am about to drive a long way to check it out! I'm ready to buy, and to own my first full blown touring bike... a bit excited, yet weary at the same time. Any help here? Thanks, Kelly kjp40.05@gmail.com

I had a 1981 and 1986 Goldwings, a 1999 Valkryie and now own a 1986 and 1989 Venture Royales. I really like the "looks" of the 2nd Gen. and wonder how they compare, feel. run. race, against the Valk. Anybody have any direct experiences??? Comments???

I was honored this morning to attend the retirement ceremony for Sargeant First Class Wilkinson, known to us here as SapperMedic. He leaves the U.S. Army after 25 years of service as a Combat Medic. Wilkie- thanks for your years of service and I hope you enjoy your riding season this year. I miss seeing your 1986 parked around the corner. Mocha is going to feel lonely when I get back to riding. Well, I have found a 1986 Royal Star with a tarp over it under a lean-to. Has not been run in close to 10 years. Rubber is shot that I can see, a couple of bee nests.... Paint job is ok considering the tarp has blown a bit..... But the amazing thing is this: IT HAS A BIT OVER 1000 MILES!!!! The guy wants to sell it. What do you think it is worth???? It will need some work sitting like that, but what a great find!! I am thinking of getting it for my wife. She rides the 1100 v-star right now but has been looking at the roadstars. I would like her on this bike. Anyone that wants to can email me with info on that year bike. barrowfamily@bresnan.net Dennis

Well, went over to SapperMedic's house this afternoon. Seems Mocha has a new ebony friend! A 1986 Venture Royale. Only has 18K miles and everything is intact w/out cracks. Has brand new Dunlop 404s on and had an E1 until I jiggled the wiring. (We'll get that and its buddy very soon) The pinstriping is tastefull and it has a nice set of grips. The intercom functions fairly well. Needs a wire or two chased. He got all the books including a service manual. A bag of spare gaskets and parts, and 2 DOT certified half helmets. The old girl needs SEA FOAM. She came from san Antonio over a year ago and hasn't been run even 200 miles since then. I figure 2 cans and some sporty running. Then fresh plugs, wires and a carbtune. So, look out world - got a bit of 1986 thunder coming out of S.A. And it has a VentureRider bell hung next to the clutch lever. Figured when it got full, a little flick at speed and out go the nasty little critters. JB

I have to replace the forks on my 85 and I found a set tonight for the full set with triple tree but they are from a 1986. Will the 86's work on the 85?
