I have been playing around with the carb set-up on my VentureMax (1300 engine with Vmax cams and springs). The latest experiment is Vmax needles and .5mm spacers. I have not rode it much with this set-up yet; Needs a little choke for cold starting Idle appears to be lean (surges slightly at idle and pops during deceleration) Pulls smooth and strong from 1500 rpm in second Pulled a little "crisper" from 1500 rpm with stock needles Pulls strong from 3,000 rpm (any gear) Ran it up to 9,000 rpm in second and it wanted to keep going!

Hi all I rode a 1800 wing to Big Toms rally last weekend. What a nice ride. I see there is a 1990 1500 wing localy with about 30000 miles on it. Just woundering anything I should look for and is the power from a 1800 to a 1500 a lot? Also is the ride about the same as far as leg room and comfort? Thanks Bull463

Hey, I got a question I'm hoping someone knows the answer to. My 1998 Gold Wing 1500 has an annoying electrical tendency. The last two time I went for a ride it all was right with the world then suddenly it acted like the battery was dead. The motor lost all power and I coasted to the shoulder and stopped. There wasn't enough juice in the battery to crank the engine. Karl, ic23b, came by with his van and jumper cables. We had to jump it 3 times to make it 6 miles home. All my gauges were wacko, with either no readouts or ridiculous readouts. I cleaned the battery terminals and cables and put the battery on the charger BUT the charger said it was ALREADY fully charged !!?? A couple days later it happened again and I ended up walking home to get the car and trailer. When I got back to the bike it cranked over just like 'downtown' and fired right up. Is there a relay or solenoid in the main circuit that could fail and interrupt the current flow? Any ideas?? Quirk

A few weeks ago I started a thread asking everyone to keep and eye out for an low mileage fair priced RSV Midnight. Well Jack aka jblue1555 came through. He sent me a PM about his bike and after a few phone calls, a few emails and 1500 mile trip my wife and I are now the proud owners of one very chromed out Midnight with only 18,000 miles on it. Jack told me he had alot of chrome installed and sent me a few pics. I thought it looked pretty good and he offered it to me at a price that was more then fair. When I got to he house he had it parked in the drive "shining in the sun" I could not believe all the stuff he had put on this bike. I'd make a list, but I'll still be typing tomorrow. He even installed a hitch, something I always wanted on a touring bike for those long trips along with the drivers back rest Jack put on. It sounds great I guess thats because of the chrome work pipes. I'll add some pics if I can figure out how to. Thanks again for the great deal Jack. Stacy and I'll will get a lot of smiles/miles on it. I'll let you post what you sold it to me for if you want.

i happened to stop at my kawasaki dealer yesterday to look at the new victories again. when i was leaving , there happened to be a new kaw jet ski by the front door. i asked my salesman what size motor it had, just out of curiosty. he said 260 horsepower supercharged 1500 cc with 1500 pounds of thrust. blew my mind. any one ever ride one of these things? it must be awesome. where does it end?

I found a pretty neat motorcycle oil filter cross reference for most bikes. I find it interesting that the Honda 1500 & 1800 use the same filter as our Ventures. It coincides with my latest acquisition of 8 factory Honda 1500 filters. I shouldn't have to buy any oil filters for at least 8 years - http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/FilterXRef.html

Folks...I'm in Cannon Falls, MN this week at our semi-annual sales meeting. LONG days this time. Then they took my laptop for the past two days to do some upgrades with the software so I've been unable to even get online until tonight since early Wednesday morning. Sorry if I have missed any questions here or via email. I'm working through about 1500 emails right now but if you have emailed me and I don't answer within the next day or two, please try again. Headed back home tomorrow night and am READY.

My dad just bought a 1500. Its an 88 and silver, and me, being the persnickity young tyke wanted to take it out for a ride. Well, its less torquey than my 1200 VR. It does ride smoother though, but mine takes bumbs better What's your take?

I know some of you ride Wings but I think you "came" from a Venture so I know you aren't like this but it seems lately the Wing riders I come across seem to have a bit of a "chip on their shoulder". For instance, one of the security guards in the building where I work (a very nice lady but...) rides on her hubby's wing with him and have been riding a wing for many years ... anyway, she sure seems to get "snobbish" whenever I start talking motorcycles with her. "Oh, we tried a Yamaha once...it was terrible!" .. "We never ride in groups!" (yet she showed me pics of a few folks they ride with a lot) ... "oh no...we won't do the Ride for Dad charity run... we already gave to charity and there's too many Harley riders there" ... and so on, and so on... Maybe I'm reading it wrong but her tone, body language, and words are sure giving me those "snobby" vibes (btw, she's older 'n me and is about to celebrate her 45th wedding anniv ... good for them!) On top of that, she can't tell the difference between the 1500 style of Wing and the 1800 style. Showed me a pic of their "old" bike that they traded for a "new" one (pic of that too) and according to her, they traded an 1800 for a 1500 but you couldn't tell her that. (she was adamant that the old one is the new one...geeesh now I'm confused LOL) Well, I'm bored, tired, too warm, and anxious to see the work day end coz starting June 1st, I am off work for an entire month! yyeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh .... (maybe all the above is just my "chit")

I am going to look at purchasing a 1999 gray silver Venture with 35k miles what kind of tech things should I be looking for? Is there anything during a test ride I should be listening and looking for. The only other bike I owned was a 03 Volusia 1500 that I bought new so I really don't know what to look for in a used bike. Thanks

I found this little homemade trailer on E-bay, but don't want to bid on it if it is too heavy to pull. It was designed to be pulled by a goldwing 1500, so I feel fairly safe. Item # 320355058863

OMG, #1 of 1500 RSV 2000MM on Ebay, only 7,100 miles!
FutureVentures posted a topic in Watering Hole
Oh man, I'm soooo jealous. Now I wish I had waited to buy my 2K MM, #515 model. This bike is mint, has only 7,141 miles and is the 1st of only 1500 of these beauties made! Ironically, it's in the same neighborhood where I bought and rode mine home from, Baton Rouge LA. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110308501978&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3ASS%3AUS%3A1123&viewitem= -
I have an 07 Venture that is Blue / Black. It is ready for tires and I am thinking about putting Wide Whitewalls on her. Do any of you have them on your Venture, (preferably same colors) and could post a pic or two? This way I can see how mine would look ahead of time. I am familiar with Metzler from my last Kaw 1500 Classic, but other than those I'm not sure which to choose. My dealer tells me that Metzler doesnt make them for the Venture in Whitewalls. So I thought would search a couple of forums to see which is most liked. craigr

Hey guys (and Gals if applicable), I am going to pick up my new to me '99 RSV in a couple of weeks. I am buying it from a friend that let me use it one summer when he was busy. The question I have is this: I have a set each of the saddlebag liners from my Ultra Classic AND from my old 1500 Goldwing. Does anybody know if either of these bags will work acceptably in the RSV bags? Thanks very much – I enjoy the site and appreciate the willingness of others to share the wealth of their knowledge.

I've got a buddy here who wants to change from his cruiser to a touring bike. Right now he is looking at a gorgeous 2000 goldwing 1500 se and an '05 RSV (also mint). Both bikes have low mileage and are priced the same. He needs a nudge in one direction or the other so I told him I'd get on this board and ask those of you who have owned a 1500 to give your honest opinions in your comparison of these 2 bikes. It would be much appreciated. Thanks!
