Not sure what category this should be in, but.....HERE it is! My wife said she felt a couple of "lurches" under her while doing about 40MPH in 4th gear on her 1100 V-Star this morning. She glided to a stop at the side of the road, and sure enough, when I got off my Venture and onto her bike to see what was wrong, I released the clutch slowly in first gear.....only to see that the bike moved forward, ever so slightly, then stayed exactly where it was, with the clutch FULLY engaged. DOH!!! Do you suppose the clutch is "fried", "broken" or ......"otherwise"? Any and all suggestions greatly appreciate. P.S. And if you've had this same experience.....did you replace, repair, use aftermarket, genuine Yamamama etc, etc, etc. Thanks a lot for any help guys. Really appreciate your help on this one.....cause, as you know, "Happy wife.....happy life!!" :-) Michael

It is that time again. This Saturday (Aug 26) is the annual Saltspring Island Santa Toy Run. Registration (free) 0900 to 1100 at the institute. Ride starts at 1100 sharp. Lasts about one hour then biker games at the institute, beer garden, food, vendors, etc. Dinner (1700-1900) slow roasted beef and lamb on a spit, dance 1930-????? Dance only $20.00. I will be the fat guy in the red suit. Info at ssitoyrun@gmail.com

My wife would like to install a set of risers on her 2006 vstar1100 custom. Barrons has a set that gives 2" pull back without a rise that might work. It looks like all the control lines will still be usable. Anybody have any other suggestions. I put a set of Motorcycle Larry riser/triple clamps on my fjr and they worked great but can't seem to see anything for the 1100 there. If you have a riser in mind but it might need longer cables please let me know about them as well just warn me I will need longer cables. I think 2 inchs back and an inch or so up would be about right. Al

I have a friend that has an 1100 V Star Classic that wants to change his exhaust to get a little better sound. What will he have to do with his fuel system to make this change? I do not know anything about this bike but would like to provide him with some suggestions...

Hello Everyone: Weather here in W. Nebraska was very nice today. Sunny and warm, temps in the 40's. I got called out on a service call this afternoon. I mentioned to my customer that it was almost nice enough to ride my bike. That started the conversation, I soon learned my customer and his wife just enjoyed their first season on a Yamaha VStar 1100. I mentioned this wonderful site to them. They wrote the website address down and hopefully we will see another member on here soon. I love my job and the fact that I meet new people everyday.

HI all. A buddy i ride with has an 07 V Star Classic 1100 and is having a problem. After about 90 - 100 miles of riding or when it gets to about a half tank of fuel the bike loses power like its starving for fuel. If he stops and fuels up the problem goes away that is until the fuel runs down to about half tank. So what do you think?? I had him try seafoam because seafoam cures all but with no luck. Thanks. Bill

I returned to riding after 40 years absence and bought an '04 VStar 1100 with 1,500 actual miles. Starts and runs fine except for a miss at very light load --- almost coasting. I've run 3 tanks with Seafoam and it's a little worse. I started out running mid-grade gas and then switched to low grade 78 octane when advised by a friend. Local dealer does not have a great reputation for repairs --- at least by some opinions. I am moderately good at mechanics and have good tools but no experience with motorcycles. Don't mind doing it myself and can follow instructions but they need to be in plain/idiot language. It looks like some may have replied to my earlier posts --- I could not find them --- I may know less about these "thread things" then about my bike. THANKS FOR YOU HELP & PATIENCE. Tompa3

I am sooooooooooooo excited!!!! I'll try and make this short....our oldest son bought a 2004 1100 V Star Classic about 5 years ago. I've always told him, if he ever wants to sell that bike that I wanted first crack at it......Well, I finally got my chance. He was at the dealers buying a new bike and I got the call! I had 5 minutes to make up my mind! I ride an 1100 Virago that I just love. I was worried I might not be able to handle the V Star with it being so much heavier....anyway...he brought it home to me Sunday and I put 65 miles on it. The hubby followed me the with Venture....and so far so good. It's going to take me a while to get used to the width of the bike, wider handlebars, floor boards and the braking, but I think I'll be able to do it!!! I will never sell my Virago because she has been the best bike I could have ever had, but I'm so tickled to get the VStar!! The only thing I want to add is a windshield. Called J & P cycle...shield was $157.00 but I about fell over that the quick disconnect mounting hardware was $147.00 in addition!!!! I didn't order it because I was in sticker shock. Anyone know where I can find it cheaper? I tried uploading a pix of it but I'm getting the message upload failed! Don't know what I'm doing wrong....Can anyone help me out?

Will it hurt anything to take the carb heater fuses out? Something is draining my new (6 months old) battery. A friend who had a YAMAHA 1100 said his was doing the same thing and he traced it to the carb heaters. He took the fuses out and all was well afterwards.

Over the weekend, Lori and I rode our bikes down near to Johnson City, TN, where my brother lives. It's about a twelve hour ride from home. Lori rode her own bike there too. One of our activities for the weekend was riding The Snake, also known as Hwy 421 or Shady Valley. It is fully the equal of the Dragon, but not quite so widely known. My brother and his wife on the left are riding a '95 Kaw GPZ 1100, my beaming wife is riding her '02 V Star 1100, and almost completely hidden from view is my bike. We put on over 1200 miles by the time we were back home, all without incident. A good weekend. http://www.shadyvalleycountrystore.com/

A friend of mine just bought a hypercharger for his 1100 V-star. He hasn't found a mechanic to install it yet, but has some questions about perormance improvements. Does anyone know how much of a seat of the pants improvement this will make? If rejetting is necessary? How much this affects milage?(milage! you don't put a hypercharger on for milage?!) Also does anyone know of a good mechanic that he can trust this fix to, near Holly,Mi. Thanks in advance, Big Mike

Had someone pull out in front of me again yesterday; I had my 3x5 foot flag in the wind but the man upstairs helped me out when I needed it. Sure glad I didn't have my "stuff" on board. Now for the rest of the story; I installed a bar and spotlights with switch on my Vstar 1100 (which has been traded in). I have not been able to find something similar for my 2004 royal star venture. I went to the website for cobra and even talked to them; they could not help me. I have confidence in venturerider.org; someone can point me in the right direction.

Happy to have found the site. Here's my story: I have ridden VStars for years. I am looking to trade up from my 00 1100 Vstar to a Venture. I have my eyes on an 03 Midnight Venture locally. 4600 miles, asking ~$10K. Questions I hope to figure out: - That appears to be a good price, yes? - Ride height adjustable? Major increase from my Vstar! - Are there any bizarre factory design issues to be aware of? - for example, the 1100 Vstar needed the exhaust and floor boards removed to do a simple oil change unless you bought an aftermarket kit. Anything weird about these bikes like that? - Anything I should look for on thie used bike, issues unique to this bike? - I cant seem to locate a site for standard specs for this year/model. Anywhere? Thanks in advance. I;m an active participant on the Vstar forums, I hope to move up to the Venture and get busy here!

I have a friend who wants to sell his 1100 Goldwing and I need a value for it. Is there a site I can compare this model price at? It is very clean and he has ridden it sparingly.

I check my oil about once a week when I am just riding around locally and daily when I'm on a long trip. I've never had to add oil on either of my RSVs or my Vstar 1100. It never moves off the mark. I was just wondering if anyone ever has to add oil between oil changes? DT

What I'm looking for is something so my wife and I can chat if we so desire. The problems is that we ride on two different bikes. Are there any options out there that will allow us to talk to each other. She rides a Honda Shadow 1100 so the cb is not even an option. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance David

If any of you know anyone who has an 1100 Vstar Custom that wants to put the 1100 Classic Silverado bags on it, I have a bracket that I make to make this happen. They are not listed to fit the bike, but I ran them on my custom for 10,000 miles. They really looked great. If you know anyone, I have a set of the bags for sale with the bracket. I also have the template to make the bracket if anyone just needs the bracket. Safe riding to all!

I just bought my RSTD last wednesday and I really enjoy it. Had an 1100 Vstar for 9 years had to upgrade. Anyway was wondering if anyone knows if they make a chrome cover for the black plastic section around the lock on the saddlebags. Also if any of you know someone that has an 1100 Vstar Custom, I removed all my accessories before trading in and am looking to sale. It was a '99 model.

I'll try to keep this as short as possible, but it's something I've wanted say for a long time. I joined this wonderful forum in '06 (forget how I even found it) CRS ya know . I have a V-Star 1100, so most of the help info doesn't pertain to my bike, BUT it's the members here that keeps me logging in. I did find a V-Star 1100 forum for the kind of help and info I might need from time to time, but believe me, VR. org's members are truly family, and I know you know what I'm talking about. Mostly I just log in to catch up on all that's happening, and am content to "lurk" and still feel that I'm very much a part of this group. Our hearts go out for those in need or who have lost loved one's, even tho chances are we've never personally met them, and help is always offered. My close friends could never imagine what a bond there is on this forum, and I'll just keep that "our" secret. So......I just want to thank ALL of you that make this the best motorcycle forum, and a special thanks to Don and the moderators for their devotion to this forum. My best to all Jerry
